Kody 💯 was more upset about losing Christine’s house than about losing Christine, Truely moving away, or Ysbelles invasive spinal surgery. You could see the mourning he felt as he made the final walkthrough trying to convince Janelle to buy it. His confidence utterly dependent on outward possessions (including collecting wives and kids) to prove to world he is more competent than he is. It’s all a grand facade…just like his spiral permed, nearly bald hairline.
For so long Kody felt confident in his ability to manipulate the OG3 into doing what he wanted on big issues, in spite of his claims to the contrary. He was also confident that he held all the leverage in the family. So in a short period of time he lost his tenuous “super power.” He lost the property. He lost the respect of his family. He lost his claim to fame of having 4 wives. He lost the family pot of money. And you are right, all of that was the foundation of his ego.
What he is calling “his confidence,” I call his over inflated ego. I hope when he speaks about his confidence coming back that he doesn’t mean that he is returning to his usual asshole self.
I remember during the early days of covid that someone in flag reported that Kodys car had been permanently at Robyn’s house. Someone familiar with their culture responded that him not being involved in the other families day-to-day lives was going to backfire on him because that was how he kept control over the family. Dropping in their lives from time to time gave him control over many of their decisions/discussions and that in his absence, they would start to make their own choices.
He didn’t lose control over the family, he willing gave it up.
i disagree a little with your last point. i do not think kody thought parking his shit long term at robyn's was going to be an issue at all. his ego is so large, he assumed they would stick with him in spite of any behavior because that's how great he thinks he is.
he had previously abandoned meri with zero consequences to their spiritual marriage and he assumed it would be the same with the other wives. he essentially thought he could live monogamously with robyn, swing by to the other houses every now and then, and they would remain in the fold because of his experience with meri.
Oh no, I don’t think he willingly gave it up. I agree, I think he assumed he could slide in and out as he chose. What I’m saying is he chose to stay away and that forced the others to figure life out on their own.
totally agreed!
Agreed, he abandoned them but expected them to honor their “sacred loneliness” while still contributing their funds to the “family pot” (aka the “Bank of Kody” since he was the one who controlled and distributed the money in it). He spent 24/7 with R, who had made it known she didn’t let him out or her sight. On the rare occasion he was needed by the OG3, he showed up for to help move something or do quick fixes on things for them when they asked for help but then sprinted right back to his loyal wife at the she-rah chateau.
Edit: spelling
I agree for the most part. But I still think he didn't want to lose Jenelle... she was the laid back easy wife.. he needed her conversations to feel like a smart and educated man. She wasn't a weak, sad, dependent little flower like Robyn. She gave him the best bunch of kids in his mind( mostly boys and submissive easy girls) ...
He just couldn't stand losing his sons respect and therefore they needed to go. He wanted to win this powerstruggle with Jenelle to see how submissive she would be, and he lost.
I think Robyn has always known Jenelle was her only competition because she was everything she is not. That's why she hated on her kids from the start.
Robyns only competition for time with Kody was Jenelle because he actually wanted to be there... He went to a lot of wrestling matches and practiced with the boys. Maddie was an obvious favourite daughter. I think Kody could actually be himself. When that fell away the only way for his ego to stay alive, was to be the hero for someone, the savior. And Robyn played that roll well.
I think he read a lot of bullshit during that time which solidified his reasoning, and Robyn whsipering in his ear to stroke his ego, worked.
Also Robyn saw a weak link with Mykelti and jumped in with her manipulation to create more divide with Christine. She could also keep tabs on Christine and Kody this way. She tries the same with Maddie, but she is a lot smarter than Mykelti.
From what we saw on the show, he has always disliked Christine, and Meri was already on the outs, she just got a little of extra Kody because of welcoming Robyn like she did.
He tried to crawl back to Jenelle, but she was done. (I think Christine and all the kids banding together helped with that).
Kody was a different man with each of his wives. And all his wives played different roles in his life... The covid devide made them all see how much easier it was to actually be yourself. It made Kody realise he could never be that perfect person he likes himself to be with all the wives. He felt like a failure and instead of working to better himself, he avoided the people who made him feel like that. And only went where he was worshipped.
It's all ego baby.
I agree with all of this. I've always felt Kody and Janelle had the better relationship. She wasn't emotional. If there was an issue, she just stated it calmly and he was ready to deal with it. They had good conversations, an apparently healthy sex life. It seemed like best friends with benefits. With Meri, I think it was that confusion over first love and hormones. Once the novelty of having sex wore off, I think he realized he didn't like her much as a person and that started things going south. Christine he didn't care for much at all, but appreciated her being a buffer between Meri and Janelle. He said as much even when he was saying terrible things about her. Robyn is his soul mate because I think she calms him down and makes him feel valued while not being a nag or too independent. I think the only wife he's going to miss is Janelle strictly for the conversations and the laughs.
And they did stick around way to long
When it's all said and done, Kody is just another sad middle aged cliché. He allowed the wrong part of his body to make his decisions. Add greed on top of that, and he lost sight of a lot of things. He's laughable. It's just unfortunate that he hurt so many people in the process.
God gave man two heads and here we are watching one use the smaller, less educated of the two and with as anticipated, stupid results. (Sorry, brother husbands out there, I know this doesn’t apply to all men.
That’s what Robyn was trying to tell him too when she said go stay on the couch. She knew he was messing up their gravy train
That’s exactly how I took it. It was about him controlling them and not about fighting for his marriage.
It’s also why she insisted none of the wives be allowed to hang out together during covid. Kody made sure none of the wives would ever be friends, but in his absence, Robyn was smart enough to know that it was dangerous to let Christine and Janelle hang together without Kody dictating their relationship.
But what bothered him the most was aurora staying away for 10 days while he had covid.
Yeah…that’s just gives off vibes I don’t want to even comment on.
Meanwhile his daughter was away for like 2 or 3 weeks in another state having very intense spinal surgery. SMH. He is such an absolute asshat!
Agreed. He’s beyond empty and superficial. He’ll never even get that.
Oh he is totally wounded that Christine walked away with her house. He really thought he had her wrapped around his finger but he wasn’t paying attention- she was so totally done with him and working on leaving for at least a year. I rather enjoyed that
😂 Remember when he suggested she sell the house and pay off coyote pass? In what world would she even consider that? What a tool. 😂
Legally the house wasn’t his, oh well.
Yes; totally agree. At one point he even says to Christine that she can just stay on the property or rent it out and have her new boyfriend or whatever stay with her if she wants. It’s clear he didn’t even mind that she would be leaving him or even having a relationship with someone new as long as the funds kept coming in.
Robyn said she could have a boyfriend too lol. They just wanted her to stay and keep the money coming in so that whole wanting the sister wives was bs
I'm at the part where Meri wants to buy her grandparents house and Kodys like, this is not a money maker. No way. I realized just then he's all about the money.
Everything is his. To him, they were on his train and since they got off, they shouldn’t get anything. You know that’s how he feels! Like snatching the extra land. And Meri asked for her share. Christine told him how it was going to be. I thought Jenelle was surprisingly passive in all of it too, but I read today, she might be fighting for what’s hers. Man, I hope she walks with something, especially since it was her working all those years and her 401k they drained for family reasons. All the house money from Vegas went to Robyn’s chateau. It’s terribly unfair.
Yes! Also filing a void with material items!!
Except it’s a bottomless void that can never be filled. Look at how much crap him and Goblyn have in that big house and they’re still the most miserable looking couple.
I think he wanted it as a rental. I mean, he and Robyn gave her the down payment, out of the goodness and kindness of their hearts. It's totally unfair that he doesn't get to hold on the the house after he made like every payment. Gosh, can't anyone see the sacrifices he's made?! ////ssssss
I dislike Kody as much as everyone here, but I can't help but think ihe is a product of the BS that fundamentalist mormonism teaches.. That men are the "Priesthood" of the family and in polygamy, they are like the God of the family. How ridiculous is that! But he got into it as a very young man and believed every word. Then, like a toddler he tantrums when his vision is squashed.
I disagree. I think the multiple houses has always been a huge pain for him and he always wanted to go back to one big house. I think he suggested Janelle buy it honestly because it was the easiest option. She couldn’t find another house, dropped 100k on a trailer, and then bounced around in tiny apartments. I get why Janelle wouldn’t want his other wife’s house, but pragmatically speaking, it did make sense.
Kody wanted his name included on the deed
Because he and the rest of the family chipped in for it originally. Edit: they talked about on the show how the family contributed to Christine’s house which is why she signed over her and on coyote pass as a trade to be able to keep the profits from selling her house.
They did not contribute a dime
They did, that was why Christine signed over her land on coyote pass in exchange for her being able to sell her house since the family contributed to it. They decided to make it an even trade to avoid a financial mess. They talked about it on the show and in interviews, idk why I’d be downvoted.
Remember, Christine stated, she made all her mortgage payments on her own.. no dipping in the family pot for that. So for Kody to reap those benefits.nuh uh.
She made the payments but the family provided the initial down payments, that’s why she signed over her land so she could keep the house profits. This was all said on the show. No idea why I’m being downvoted. It makes no sense other wise.
Janelle & Meri paid a huge chunk/most of the down-payment for Robyn's house with the proceeds of the sale of their homes in Las Vegas. R & K claimed the family gave Christine the down-payment for hers in Arizona but once her house in Las Vegas was sold she repaid the $ to the family pot. They had absolutely no financial interest in her home in Flagstaff by that point. She essentially could have argued for a share of that wretched land & wasn't obliged to hand it over for nothing but she wanted to get rid of Kody as quickly as possible. Kody & the family had no financial interest left in her home.
The family did not contribute to the inn for Meri.
That was a blessing for Meri..or they'd all want a piece of her sweet sweet retreat money.
Absolutely
Oh they still did! And when Meri made it clear that she wasn’t making it a family business they were all mad. Hence, the “Meri doesn’t share resources” comment
Janelle couldn’t afford it and didn’t have the credit to use on it since she had contributed so much to coyotes pass. her family inheritance was used to buy the lehi house and her 401k was used for sobyns debt. the proceeds of her vegas house went to sobyns downpayment.
on what planet is janelle buying this house she didn’t want an easy option. it wasn’t an option at all. if grody wanted the house, he could have overextended himself financially the way he expected everyone else to.
Janelle had 100k to drop on that trailer, she even said on the show it could have been wiser to put that into a house instead.
but if she applied for a mortgage she wouldn’t be able to finance the land to build even the casita. which she also said, emphatically, was her reasoning.
edited to add, i’m genuinely curious why you would think it was on janelle to overextend herself financially to buy a house she didn’t want, that we all know grody would not have contributed to. she would have had to wait years to qualify for another loan to build and said she would be stuck in that house. i don’t remember how much that house sold for but it was a hell of a lot more than $100k.
if grody wanted the house, why is that her problem??
My point was she wasted so much time and money on that trailer and it was extremely unfair to Savannah when she could have just taken a less than ideal situation with Christine’s house for a short term solution and since the family did contribute to it but let Christine keep the profits in exchange for her signing over the land. Obviously they would have worked out something else if Janelle wanted it since Janelle already had contributed to it when Christine bought it. That was one of the things Janelle complained about with how the family had money for everyone’s housing but hers it seemed, even though she threw away a large portion of hers on that trailer.
The travel trailer experience was to force Kody to make a decision on Coyote pass.
I think you are right. And Robyn is the exact same way!
I don’t know. He’s been throwing a tantrum for two years over more than a house.
I hope the OG’s get all the money they are due !!!!
I wish TLC would fire him and Robyn . I just can’t stand them .
I still don’t understand why Janelle didn’t buy it? Like girl you were living in a camper this was your out.
