As someone who cries easily, I usually don’t like it when my books bring on tears. But I have to make an exception for this beautiful story.

Still plenty of comedy and small town shenanigans to enjoy, plus the requisite HEA, but there’s a thread of loss running through the book that keeps the emotional stakes high. I absolutely bawled my way through some parts.

You know how Cate C. Wells sometimes writes poverty and struggle a little too well, and the escapism of the genre can therefore get a bit wobbly? (Said as someone who loves her books precisely because they get heavy.) Somehow, Savor It manages to avoid that, despite the presence of a lot of big emotions like grief and burnout. It might be the geese and the excellent puns.

Highly, highly recommend.
