This got a chuckle out of me 🐺
North Carson City here. There is a yotey in my area that is MASSIVE. 100% on steroids. The first time I saw him I was alone in my car and out loud to myself I went “holy shit, that’s a unit”.
Surprised it wasn’t just some runaway huskies
I have the ring doorbell app, and I swear to God that someone is always losing their damn husky or finding one.
Speaking as a husky owner, they are quite the escape artists.
Huskies gotta Husky 🏃🏽
I can attest to this.
Can confirm. Regarding the husky my wife adopted, I'm less an owner and more a feeder, chaser, fence repairer, neighbor apologist. Dude is like Hogan and I'm Col Klink. People around here got Animal Ctrl on speed dial, and the dog catcher has never got him.
I thought of the idiot in Montana who killed a pet huskie😢
Funny you should mention Huskies…https://www.ksby.com/atascadero/atascadero-couple-loses-11-sheep-to-dog-attack-and-are-still-waiting-for-answers
Out in Fallon and probably other rural areas, hunters give certain coyotes names. They do this because those coyotes are so smart that they know somewhat how guns work and will either sit just out of range or somewhere, like a ditch, where they know they can't be shot.
They should have just checked the local Nextdoor.
They’ve been spotted outside of Loyalton,CA and in the hills surrounding the Sierra Valley for several years. Pretty sure they don’t pay any attention to state lines.
Probably just a matter of time before some actual wolves set up housekeeping in Nevada. My bet would be on the Jarbidge area, or maybe up around Orovada for the first pack to return to the state.
Up in The Bloody Runs, def
A spokesman for the coyotes said, "What are we? Chopped liver?"
I recommend a book called Coyote America by Dan Flores. It describes how a century of extermination efforts has eliminated wolves and caused the spread of coyotes all over the continent.

"Legends don't come close to capturing the incredible story of the coyote. In the face of centuries of campaigns of annihilation employing gases, helicopters, and engineered epidemics, coyotes didn't just survive, they thrived, expanding across the continent from Alaska to New York. In the war between humans and coyotes, coyotes have won, hands-down. Coyote America is the illuminating five-million-year biography of this extraordinary animal, from its origins to its apotheosis. It is one of the great epics of our time."
I spotted two gravy stained walruses in handcuffs at Walmart, then loss prevention confirmed they were wildebeests.
Is that the picture in question? That’s very obviously a coyote…
The pictures in question can be seen here:
I saw one of the Lassen pack wolves near Doyle CA at the state line. This was after the beckwourth and Dixie fires that burned their territory. They certainly ventured into northern Washoe county.
Are these the same people who say it’s cool to shoot 40 bears?
Anyone that think there’s wolves in Nevada is an idiot, thank the past generations for their narrowed minded ways of taking life.
I ran into a pack of some massively in-shape coyotes a couple of weeks ago in my neighborhood (Virginia foothills). I can see why there was confusion. These coyotes have a gym membership somewhere in town.
