I know generally people say "Oh everyone can do this!" but let's be real some people are obviously naturally talented and gifted. The few mediums that I personally consider authentic (and not cold reading) all said they basically were just born like that or woke up one day, without training or asking for it.
But then there's people like me who since childhood are super into the paranormal but never developed any kind of gift or talent. Do I just have to accept that I'm a "muggle" (lol) basically? Others randomly lucid dream, astral travel, sense energy or are able to contact the deceased inherently but I can't do that even when I practice. Am I alone with this?
I think there are a lot of good answers here but we don't go further enough to challenge what truly should be considered a 'gift'. I also find that our fear of spirit or the paranormal can often block certain connections with spirit/source.
The more I get deeper into channeling, the more I see how many people channel source, or higher intelligences and do so unknowingly. The artist, the scientist, the writer, the therapist, the athlete. They are tapping into something higher and bringing that information forward. How they translate it to the larger public is up to them. These connections are often called talents and are welcomed, sought after, and easily teachable or trainable. Some with stronger abilities than others, but is that nature or nurture? Others who can tap in and connect in ways that are not as mainstream (medium, psychic, etc) are sectioned off, and these connections are called gifts and are thought of by many as being hereditary (or imaginary). Again, nature or nurture? But deep down I believe they are the same.
I truly believe that everyone can connect and tap into spirit in many different ways. Once you find where that connection is for you, it will be easier to find other ways to plug in and connect.
