I've got a 55 gallon in need of fish.
What one species of fish looks really good in a big school(10+)?
TankI would do Congo tetra (longfin if you can find them) if you have a 55, always wanted a school but they are a bit bigger
Beware congos are vegetarians. I had a large school of adult condos and as adults they started eating all my plants. I could only keep Swords and anubias with then.
Oh wow I was not aware of this! That’s a bummer. Do they not eat meat based foods at all then?
According to every care guide I found, Congos are omnivores. I currently have 6 in my 75g community tank and they eat everything I feed the tank, including insect and shrimp based foods.
I do agree that they would be one of my top choices for a large school. Probably my favorite tetra. I do enjoy my Gold Barbs a little more if I had to choose just one species to fill a 55g with.
Do they bother plants for you if you keep them well fed?
They eat insects too.
But if plants are there they will eat them.
