There is a bad smell all over everything in my room from my cats, but I can't pinpoint what is. Its all over everywhere the cats are, and it's on every cat too. It's not pee or poop, I know what those smell like and this isn't it. Do cats just naturally have a musty smell? Would giving them bathes help? It's not them tracking litter either,I don't think, cuz I have track mats as well. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Should I be worried? This smell has persisted for over a year now
that sounds so foul i really hope not ðŸ˜Â how would i even go about checking that?
No, that isn't the case. Maybe not that, then?
Fishy smell
Are your cats unneutered males? If so, that's how they smell dude. Get them fixed.
No, all my cats are fixed except one due to some medical issues, and only one (not the unneutered one) is male. As far as I have ever been able to tell, none of them spray now, if they ever did. It's a like, sort of earthy smell. I can't really find anything online about it
Their glands can smell in general in they're unneutered males. It could also be an anal gland blockage. I would check their butts and you could try a warm soak and wash to loosen any blocked glands.
I only have one male and he's neutered, I'm pretty sure it was a flea allergy. They've received medicine for it since and I think it's going away
Oh good! I didn't know that could happen. Good to know!
Are they itchy or dandruffy? Skin allergies can cause a really gross smell. Ear infections can also stink.
Yes,they have been quite itchy recently, but I don't think it's skin allergies. They got fleas from my moms dog , I'm getting medicine for them next week
Might be a flea allergy then.
Dental decay maybe?
It’s usually the litter. I have severe smell sensitivity, hence I can’t tolerate even the faintest foul scent. Lavender scented litters usually works the best. The cats love lavender/ basil kinda smell so it’s a win-win. Get some scented pet-friendly wet wipes handy and wipe them whenever you think the musty smell is overpowering. I do did have a cat deodorant but I rarely ever use it.
I'm not sure that's it, but I'll have to give it a try. Thank you!
