I've been applying to Canadian Tire credit card and keep getting declined for no apparent reason. Good income, good credit score, no late payments. The first time they gave me a congratulations, you're approved email, then made me run around to get my ID verified, then more security questions over the phone, and then just nothing - no communication whatsoever. Turned out it was declined.

Over the years my partner and I have applied and re-applied (not immediately of course), with the same results. Every time they don't inform they declined (just ghost us), then when we call they are unable to tell us the reason. They're currently doing a May signups promotion, so I just applied and got declined (ghosted) again and the phone rep just told me that I should call Transunion/Equifax and ask them, because CT themselves are unable to tell me why.

I'm like why would *they* know? But I just called Transunion and downloaded my consumer disclosure report. No inaccuracies...

I have other CCs, no issues - Scotiabank, Tangerine, Amex, and TD.

So Canadian Tire just hates us I guess?? Any advice (or commiseration) is appreciated.

Edit: It seems I'm not missing anything or doing anything wrong, thanks the ideas and input!
