Dahil sa kanila na hoarders sa mga ukayan nauubusan yung mga legit na bumibili sa ukay for daily use or makamura.

Dati I enjoy Ukay for my office attires. Tapos, maya't-maya din kasi laging fresh ng items. Quality long sleeves na pang lalaki hinahanap ko kasi di pa masyadong laspag. Ngayon, super laspag na, mahal pa.

Yung ibang "selected ukay" na sinasabi ng mga online sellers minsan shoppee item lang naman and they're pricing it higher and sinasabing unique items pa daw yun like whatttttt😂

I used to thrift din tapos napapansin ko napapabili ako ng marami and to the point na nag aalarm pa ako for bidding. Lalo na pag mine-steal-grab tas may increment na 10-20 pesos per item like may umabot pa na almost 1k na bidding nun sa suki ko. Then I realized kung ganun din lang i’d rather spend it sa uniqlo, i can buy a piece or two quality shirts or pants. Inunfollow ko na si suki ahahahaha then sa uniqlo nalang ako bumibili pang okasyon lang.

Same. I stopped thrifting na rin kasi may nabili akong ₱200 t-shirt na ang pangit pala pag dating ko sa bahay. Hindi worth it. Kaya ngayon nag iinvest na rin ako sa damit. Pinag-iiponan ko na talaga uniqlo shirts ko. 😅

Used to get 3 shirts for 100 php in my town. Good quality, clothes did not look worn out tapos branded pa. Ngayon 80 php per shirt na kahit panget quali. Lalo na known brands like uniqlo, zarah, h&m, etc. huhu, miss the days when people were not familiar with uniqlo yet. Nakakabili pa ako non ng dresses for 50 php na mukang brand new 😢

Hayyyys I miss ukay ukays way back 10 years ago! Budget mo lang 300 tapos may pang get up ka na sa office at beach. Tapos super proud pa ako when I score tops at 20 to 50 pesos tapos sasabihin sa office, ang ganda naman ng shirt mo.

buti nalang here sa province there are still a lot of thrift shops that sell good qual clothes below 100. Bought a ton of cute skirts and tops sa mga ukay-ukayan dito samin for 50 or less! Sometimes I even get my hands on some gold finds for less than 20 php. Pero yung mga ig sellers talaga I've seen them sell a worn out shirt for like 750?? and 'mine' price palang yun hindi grab or steal achuchu. And one time an fb friend of mine sold a supposedly "Dior" pair of pants for 4k php??!? like it's not even confirmed if legit ba yun or not 😭

Agree! As a person who was able to find good clothes sa thrift shops worth 100 pesos and below before, I UTTERLY DESPISE IG (Or whatever socmed they reside in) RESELLERS TO THE VERY CORE OF MY BEING!! Took the joy out of thrifting..

Simula na mauso yung mga bale - bale na yan, online thrift stores, tumaas na lahat ng ukay. Maski yung mga ukayan before na may 10, 20, 50s lang, sumasabay na rin sa pagtaas ng price.

Simula na mag-Pandemic, dumami na yung mga overpriced kahit na yung item na for sale / for bid is hindi naman ganun kagandahan. Given na nag-effort yung iba sa kanila na labhan at plantsa, pero hindi pa rin worth it.

I understand na meron talagang mga collectors nung vintage styles / brands na umaabot ng 5 digits, pero yung iba kasi talaga, makasabay lang.

2016 nung natuto ako mag Ukay. I could buy 3 for 100 dress/tops na branded with tag pa. Yung ibang shoes hindi pa gamit nasa 500 lang and yung boots with tag din 650. Denim Jacket for 100 in good condition. Parang di pa gamit, nalabahan lang ganun. Ngayon mas mahal pa sila sa Mall Price shirts and dresses. Fashion Clothes I'd buy it nalang sa SHEIN. Basic shirts and denim pants sa Mall.

Pre-pandemic I enjoyed this a lot. I was used to buying stuff at their regular price so imagine my shock when I first stepped into an actual ukay ukay store. People have always admired my sense of fashion and style so I make sure I track my outfits whenever I meet different cliques so that I hardly repeat. I haven't been to an ukay since Covid happened, but judging from the complaints against resellers, I'm not sure if it's still worth visiting nowadays.

Some of my fav clothes are from thrift, totoo mark up nila, dati nakakabili ako ng ₱100 dress, ngayon nasa ₱300 na pag new arrival.

Dahil kasi sa mga online sellers ng mga "hand-picked" ukay tumaas na rin ang mga presyo ng mga ukay sellers. Syempre unfair naman yun laki ng mga dagdag nila sa prices nila, kaya yan nalang ang ginawa nila. Kahit sino namang may bumili sayo tas may mga tao palang willing pang bilhin yun in a higher price they will certainly feel na unfair yun.

Agree! Also ung may bidding lol nakakainis minsan kasi akala ko thrift/ukay finds ang binebenta nila pero bakit ung bidding/lock umaabot ng 1K. Kahit ung mga nabibili sa mga tiangge/divi na items na used to be mura lang din biglang naging mall price na 🙃😆

Same sentiments. Nung 2018 nakabili ako ng orig na pair of Chucks sa ukay for 50 pesos and I wore it hanggang 2022. Ngayon parang ang pinakamura na nathrift ko is 200 pesos for a t-shirt.

Tingin ko dahil din sa mga overpriced sellers na yan kaya nag taas yung mga mismong ukay store. Nag ukay ako last time may nakita ako na uniqlo crew neck shirt taena worth 300. Eh pag nagsasale yan sa mismong uniqlo store 390 nalang taena sana bumili ka nalang ng bago.

i feel like yung mga 200%+ markup sa mga thrift items na nagbebenta sa ig are either people who never really thrifted or just plain greedy. 1k+ for a "thrift" isn't really a "thrift" to begin with 🤷🏻‍♀️ ang irereason out lang nila eh at least lower than mall price and called it as "thrift"

This is so true. When I was in college (6+ years ago), wala kaming uniform, so I would thrift some pieces to add a twist to my outfits. Plus, we were asked to watch The True Cost back in uni, which really influenced me to thrift clothes. Everyone was wearing the same brands (uniqlo university hahaha), and ayokong ayoko yung may nakakasalubong ako na kapareho ko ng damit. Dati mura lang talaga as in, I remember thrifting with my blockmates at Harrison Plaza (gone but not forgotten) and paying only 200 pesos for three versatile pieces that I was able to use until senior year. Back then, 300-400 pesos per piece was already considered expensive in ukay, even for branded items. If you have a good eye, you can definitely find luxury pieces. I can't recall exactly if it was Georgina Wilson, but there was a personality who got featured in a magazine and proudly shared that she bought an authentic scarf/twilly for 20 pesos sa ukay. I think it was Hermès or Gucci. Basta she got it authenticated. Those were the days!

Ukay ukay online seller here 🙋‍♀️ I get my supplies directly from bale suppliers. For me, isa sa factors ko when pricing my items are yung presyo ng bale, tapos kung ilang items ang bentable at high quality doon, bayad sa Ads, packaging materials, tapos yung pa-sweldo ko sa laba at steam ng mom at brother ko, then effort ko sa pag photoshoot ng items, on top of that, dahil ito yung livelihood ko, dito ko din kinukuha ang pambayad ko ng bills tapos may business debts pa ako na pina-pay off. Price range ko ay nasa ₱199-₱450 per item. Hindi ko na mababaan ang presyo gawa ng factors na nabanggit ko. May tumal days din talaga, kaya no choice ako minsan kelangan ko talaga taasan yung pricing para kahit konti ang benta, makabayad pa din ako ng bills at maka-restock.

On top of that, inflation din. Mataas ang bilihin, mahal na din ang bales, at dahil ito livelihood ko kailangan ko din mag-keep up.

Honestly, kahit ako, nagugulat ako sa ibang sellers na nakakabenta sila ng ₱1k-₱5k+ sa mga items nila lalo na yung mga vintage na clothes ganern. Pero siguro ang target market kasi nila talaga ay yung mga middle to high class people kaya may bumibili pa din sakanila kasi those people can afford to buy their items.

Ayun lang, share ko lang para may POV din yung mga customers sa sellers. 🫶

My mother loves to comment "mine" in this one particular facebook live seller. Then yung isa sa na-"mine" niya na clothe costs 80 pesos. One time in a physical thrift shop, may nakita siyang shirt na kamukhang kamukha ng nabili niya sa live selling. The funny thing is 15 pesos lang yung shirt na 'yon sa store.

Hay nako. Nag-ukay ako after a long time last year. Namiss ko na kasi. I saw this good place with good prices tapos new arrival din. Tapos may nakita ako sako sakong damit sa may cashier akala ko mga hindi pa nalalabas yun pala sa isang customer. Napaisip ako bakit ang dami?!! And then narealize ko baka i-resell nila tapos patong malala haaaaaayyy!

I remember the Ukay ukay sa night market in Baguio when I was little. I remember my mom buying cute shorts for me and my sister which cost around 20php lang. When I came back last year, the cheapest clothing they sell are amounting to 50php na, and that's for a bonnet. 🙃🙃

Dati may mga "Vintage "shops akong finafollow sa FB, inunfollow ko na din kasi iba din yung nasusukat ko yung item tas feeling ko kapqg may pabidding, mas mapapamahal pa ako.

May kakilala ako na bantay sa ukayan, yung mga sinasabit nila is napagpilian na nila then yung mga branded or mga magagandang napupull nila, eh binebenta nila sa ig nila na mas mataas yung price, then if weeks na then unsold pa rin, tsaka nila isasabit pero mataas pa rin ang price.

buti where I live, if you know where to go you can find thrift stores that sell items below 100. I recently found 2 stores malapit samin na ang presyuhan is 20 and 35 for all items, at may 20 pesos racksssssss.

I can’t stand ‘yung mga IG sellers na nagsesell ng “vintage finds” “curated” “coquette “ (whatever terms they use) with the model posed with the lifted shoulders to emphasize the clavicles… plus they are always overpriced like 400-800 pesos, like hello??? Mas gustuhin ko pa mag-ukay sa labas if that price range will give me 5-10 great pieces.

kaya mas maganda talaga bumili sa physical stores kasi mas diverse ang selection of clothes. lalo na ako, mahilig ako sa weird clothes tapos iniistyle ko lang para magmukhang wearable in public. for example, yung mga thrifted lingerie top na sa physical stores mo lang usually mabibili ginagawa kong mini dress then pair with bootcut jeans, mga ganyan ba. karamihan din kasi ng online thrift puro estetik and normal clothes lang din talaga tas ang mamahal pa kaya i prefer yung physical stores talaga

Yung dating 5 to 10 pesos shorts and shirts na binibilan ko eh naging 50 to 100++ na. Sakit lang at puro magaganda pa naman mga binebenta nila. That's why the new goal is to be skinny. Ang mumura ng brand new na damit kapag payat at maliit ka. Sana all.

I used to go this chain of ukayans in GMA Cavite. Prices are so freaking cheap to the point na nalilibre ko pa yung friends ko ng damit pag nagpapasama ako mag ukay. Branded pieces like Carhartt, Nike, Adidas, Stussy and other brands na pwede pang streetwear costs around 50-200 pesos. Mahal na yung 300. Makakakuha ka ng mga skirts na pwede mo ipa repair to your own liking around 10-50 pesos each. Mom jeans is around 50-150. That was back in 2019 nung di pa hype ang mga thrift stores. I remember getting a legit huarache for 500 pesos don - steal na to kasi legit sya. Windbreakers costs 200 pesos lang. Mga bucket hats na stussy etc. around 100 lang. Ngayon kasi alam na rin nung mga bantay sa ukay yung mga branded sa hindi kaya sila na din mismo yung nagttaas ng presyo.

Ngayon tangina sobrang over priced. Feels like parang exclusive nalang yung thrifted finds sa may afford. Hindi na siya for everyone kasi hindi ka na ata makakahanap ng ukayan na nagppresyo ng 10 pesos .Ngayon, halos ka presyo na yung brand new sa sobrang taas ng patong. Simula non, hindi na ako masyadong nagtthrift. Parang nakakawalang gana na. I have a friend who do the same thing for a business. May contact na sya sa mga ukay owners kaya bago idisplay sa store yung mga bale, napagpipilian na nila/niya kasi sinasabihan na sila na may bagong dating. Kaya yung displays ang papanget na minsan. Nawalan na ako ng gana kasi ano pang pipiliin ko eh inubos niyo na? HAHA.

Totoo huhu! Ang dami ngang ganyan na ang mahal mahal na😔 althoug I have a go-to IG seller na magaganda yung clothes niya pero mura lang! Around 219 to 349. Mas mura pa when she does live selling. Sobrang underrated ng store niya. Plus super bait oa ng seller to the point na naging friends na kami😁 You guys might want to check out her store sa IG. Department of Hangers yung name ng store.
