So I played nioh 2 but haven't gotten to play wo long yet, I know it's likely great but how is it compared to nioh 2?

Haha yep. And this is not a hot take from me at all.
Best in the genre are always Bloodborne/Sekiro when you ask hardcore souls fans.
Casuals would say Elden Ring.
And some people would say Nioh 2, but the is a really small portion.
well, since the genre doesn't get decided by "hardcore" fans, but rather the totality of the fanbase, and since there's more of these "casuals"... it's safe to say that Elden Ring is the winner here.
and for me, Nioh is about as close to a souls game as Sekiro is, they're just different in alot of ways.
Hardcore fans opinions matter more than casual ones when it comes to rating a game IMHO. Like.... WAY MORE.
Elden Ring is a great game, but it's made for casuals way more than the other souls games, making it easier and therefore more boring (to me). The DLC is a bit better on that, as they increased the difficulty by a large margin.
CAREFUL, SPOILER AHEAD : The only bosses that stood out in ER for me were Malenia, Maliketh, Messmer & Radahn (Consort).
