Didn't sounded for me (non native english speaker) like that. I got "he's just like me for real (I'm dumb and lazy)" what I interpretated as you calling yourself and him dumb and lazy. Though he is lazy lol
The parenthesis is meant to be ironic and self deprecating, not relating to the other part of the sentence. Eg. “You betas need to get out of your house and get some pussy!! (Haven’t talked to a woman in 4 years)”
That's literally what he said lmao he's tryna double down for some reason but he certainly meant him and shikamaru were alike, by both being "dumb and lazy". Literally anyone who can read at a 3rd grade level would've caught that. You're spot on
Orochimaru, he's way more complex than people give him credit for. From his hatred of his own humanity and how he always desperately tries to run away from it to how being consistently surrounded by death affected him in a way that made him so scared of feeling the pain of someone he cared for unexpectedly dying (and yes orochimaru did care for people he isnt COMPLETELY heartless) that much like sasuke he was willing to pretend he could cut off his emotions.
Aight imma glaze orochimaru a bit more and point out that when he suggests killing konan yahiko and nagato as an act of mercy, that orochimaru is also a war orphan which just might mean that deep down orochimaru wishes someone would have killed him as a child to avoid the sadness he would encounter in his life. Things like that are just so interesting to me.
Then everyone in the arena literally freezes in incredulation at the sheer weight that he drops, except for Kakashi who merely remarks "guy you are too much"
I like him because he was part of one the most powerful ninja outlets in Naruto, but didn't really have any special abilities other than chakra strings and his intellect for poisons and engineering puppets and their weapons. He was super powerful, but not an OP wizard god like the other great ninja in the world.
Maito mf Guy wins me over with his positivity, beast power level and comedy. I love his relationship with Rock Lee. His rivalry/friendship with Kakashi is beautiful (the race episode is one of my faves😍😍😍), and his match up with Kisame was so good. I love Kisame too. Such a dope character design.
This guy had a pretty interesting life, being a skilled elite who was sent on a suicide mission to fight Hashirama, and lived to tell the tale. Considering the timeframe, he probably had to deal with Madara and Tobirama too since they were around as well, so just making it out alive is a testament to how skilled he was as a shinobi. He went back to his village and was branded as a failure, and honestly, I can’t blame him for becoming vengeful after the whole ordeal. He’s basically someone like Kakashi if Kakashi got screwed over by the village.
He was also no BS, and was straight to the point. I would even argue that aside from being ninja Mr. Krabs, he was actually a pretty decent guy. You could see this by how he patiently waits for Hidan to end his ritual (whilst trading banters with each other), and he even picked up Hidan’s forehead protector after their battle against Asuma. Kakuzu prior to being sent to kill the first Hokage was probably a really cool dude who cared for his comrades and friends, and that makes me feel bad for him, and that any character could’ve gone down his path. I would kill to see him as a protagonist for a spin-off where he’s a bounty hunter, and a hired arm who trusts nobody but money and himself.
Totally agree! I really wish we got to see more of the Zombie Duo in general, the end of the season felt rushed and Kakuzu's death felt really unfair. You're telling me a guy with this much experience fell for shadow clones shenanigans ..?
Amongst the Akatsuki I feel like he's criminally underrated; his backstory is super interesting. People kinda just dismiss him as the guy who really liked money lol but there's a lot more there that could have been explored if the story just took a minute to breathe. I would pay good money to have a spin off exploring the Akatsuki member's backstories, and not just Itachi's lol (as much as I love him too).
Kakashi easily. Been my fave since I was a kid. He has been through hell and back and while he struggled a bit as a kid he never was consumed by it. Didn’t go down a dark path. He was consistently my fave.
Shikamaru is a close second, especially with the arc with Hidan and Kakuzu. Dudes had a great arc and development since the og days.
I've always liked Anko. It feels like her character is criminally under used, especially since it feels like she has and would have such good chemistry with Naruto, but every time she is on screen it is either funny, badass, or just interesting and captivating. Realistically though... It's Kakashi.
For me it's a tie between Naruto and Shikamaru. I feel like Naruto is my life coach, always positive and optimistic. I need that energy in my life lol while Shikamaru resonates with me because he uses logic and strategy and I just love that
Sasuke! I guess I just really like rebel with a cause type of characters who challenge the status quo and aren't passive and accept things the way it is. I love how he challenged the main character not only in terms of power but also in terms of ideologies, he was more than just a stepping stone for Naruto's character development, he was a main character in his own right and that's what makes him such a unique rival imo
