So we have two more role players that are good at defense than we did to start last year. 3 if we still bring back Pat bev.
Seems good to me.
I doubt the Pat Bev signing is coming after these 2 vet minimums. Prince is a wing/big guard, the backcourt is kinda full, it’d be a waste of a vet minimum on another guard especially with limited frontcourt depth.
Disagree. If Dame is hurt, we only have Delon Wright to run the point. Need another ball handler yet so that there is no chance of point Pat this year. Thought Monte Morris would have been a good fit (basically use him when matchups dictated or dame is hurt). Jordan McLaughlin is that your music?
Disagree. Delon’s signing to me is the replacement for PBev, unless the Bucks plan on Tyler Smith playing 10-12 minutes a game they’re still stuck with the current 3 man frontcourt and have no depth. Signing a 36 year old PBev to bring the ball up is a waste, especially when KMid can split that up or even AJG did it last season as well.
So you think the plan should be the same as last year, with Wright instead of Beverly? That plan had Pat Connaughton playing PG in the playoffs which is a disaster. Frontcourt can be supplemented by Khris and Taurean Prince getting minutes at the 4. Ideally we get another ball handler and big (Theiss?) off the bench
They have one roster spot left unless they dump Connaughton which wouldn’t shock me given it looks like Prince does a lot of the same stuff as him. But yes to your question. They’d have AJ, Khris, or even Giannis to bring the ball up whenever as well, Khris did it a lot in playoffs. If Dame and Giannis are both hurt again in the playoffs there’s no point to this convo bc it really won’t matter in the end. Khris cannot play the 4 anymore with his injuries, he shades more to a 2 than a 4.
Khris didn’t do it like old. Pat did it poorly. They need more depth there.
Dame, Delon, AJ, Khris, Marjon, Pat, AJax, AJJ, there’s 8 guard players. Giannis, Brook, Bobby, Tyler are their bigs. Prince, Livingston are wings maybe play the 4. I’d say they’re lacking big depth not guards.
Khris played 94% of his minutes last season at forward. Hes played far more 4 than 2 and does not have lateral quickness to guard quick players. Hes not a “guard player”. Pat C and MarJon have also played the majority of his minutes at F for his career. You can go to pro-basketball-reference and scroll to play by play rather than randomly assigning players as “guards” when they don’t actually play there.
Taurean Prince has been a 3/4 through his career and is listed at PF.
Other than Dame, the only player on the roster who has played meaningful PG minutes in the NBA is Delon Wright, at 55% of his minutes. There’s a clear need for another ball handler.
I’m sorry but I wouldn’t take basketball-reference’s position timings as black and white. There’s no official lineup cards turned in during the games so idk how accurate they can assign who’s playing what. Marjon was considered a 2-guard for them last season when he was fighting for a starting spot with Malik. I should’ve said ball handlers instead of guards I guess bc people wanna complain about Pat bringing the ball up but don’t wanna call him a guard I guess. Thanks for the input though.
