Been thinking about joining, but this is stopping me.
Never been able to hold a job for long will the military accept me
DiscussionCan confirm... I resigned two years ago and still in
Really depends on the reasons as you’ve given literally nothing to go on.
- Are you a raging alcoholic? ❌
- Can’t stay awake without meth? ❌
- Enjoy beating your wife AND/OR your dog?❌
None of these. I’ve had a rough childhood and have ADHD. Never went to school and I’ve never liked working jobs where you have to work really hard and make 10 dollars an hour. I also struggle with self esteem.
What about working really hard for $6/hr? But free medical/dental and three meals a day.
I think there are waivers for no high school diploma, but a recruiter will have more up to date info.
That sounds great to me. The only thing I don’t like about not getting paid enough is fear of living paycheck to paycheck/not being able to afford rent I’m not a very materialistic person and I did finish high school with the full diploma just never went to college or a trade school.
The only enlisted that are in fear of paycheck to paycheck are teenagers with a 29% APR Mustang, or a family they can’t afford (in my opinion).
Facts. Being an lower enlisted you get meals at the dfac and a barracks room you don’t have to pay utilities for. You don’t even really need to be paid but they do anyway.
Attitude is everything, if you can't hold a regular civilian job what makes you think getting ordered around and told to do stuff that may be horrible would be anything easier. Please don't join, I saw many a young person pass through my unit and their problems in the civilian world followed them into the military, eventually getting kicked out for poor conduct, awol, etc.
Because some structure and some consequences along with a little tough love and some life skills is exactly what the op needs.
Are you diagnosed with ADHD?
No not formally, but I’m almost certain I have it
Good, then you don’t have it. Because adhd disqualifies you for military service.
Dont join if you suspect you have ADHD and havent ruled it out. I was in a non-US military with undiagnosed ADHD and it sucked big time.
Start studying for the asvab and do it. Not the first that turned to the military because they couldn't find something that stuck.
I was going to say this. Alot of people without direction have found it in the military.
Yes, and I say that from personal experience.
Unless you are a total dickwad, then I don’t see any reason they’d deny you outside of being too fat, medical issues or piss hot at meps.
Just be ready for the culture shock in basic and get comfortable being uncomfortable. Even more so for combat jobs. If you have that combat arms craze, get it out of the way early and reenlist into a pog job that’ll translate well into civilian life.
You’ll be ight. Take it a day at a time if you go through with it and don’t get too in your feelings when your in the shit at basic. It’s not the real military.
Don’t even try. You are not military material. They will eat you alive even if you manage to graduate basic.
Are you on meds?
No
Military life will not help your self-esteem. But you may turn a corner after Basic and gain more confidence, nay even discipline and goal setting!
Hard pass.
Probably not if you can't keep your shit together as a civilian, the military won't be any easier
Do not pass go
When I went in you basically needed a pulse. Brain activity was passible with a waiver.
Fear not! In the military, you don't have to hold the job. The JOB will hold YOU!
