So I have bought some mushroom “seeds” and want to grow them in my back woods. This all started a few days ago when I found some decent size morels in the woods but had just got to them a little late.
I bought chanterelle and morel seeds/spores and wondered if anyone else had done this before and might able to offer advice. I have about a 1/2 acre of woods with tons of downed trees and compost on the ground.
Also with my old morels is blending them into a slurry and pouring them out a good idea to try and grow more?
You can try, but Morels are extremely difficult to cultivate from what I understand. Which is why they are so expensive and most of us find our own. I think recently the Dutch Morel Project or something had a lot of success with mixing ash into the soil, and that would make sense since after burns is an AMAZING time to find them. I'll have to go back to brush up on the current state of morel cultivation, but off hand I'm going to say you won't find a lot of luck.
edit: and if anyone does do their own outdoor morels I'd have to hear all about that!
