This for sure. He is just a happy guy with a sense of humour like when JC said to him “you’ve changed since being here” and his response was “yes I’ve got fatter”
TBH it’s classic country person deflecting from emotions/ praise because your not sure how to deal with it
Honestly, he’s just one contestant. Just like Sav is one contestant.
I’m not a fan of either but I just mentally tune out when either of them are taking up screen time..
That said, I’m not as offended by both of them as I was by that Hibachi Guy winning last year..

Whaaaat? Declan was so lovable!
Yeah, I was rooting for Declan last year (and just rewatched the season).
Edit: spelling
Your post has been removed as it was in violation of rule 1 - be civil. Please remember the human and be excellent to eachother.
I really like the guy - he's a product of his environment and I don't find anything wrong with the words he uses. Just a country fella. Assuming if his wife referred to him as "the husband" you'd be equally displeased OP...?
It's not him calling her "the wife", I don't think anybody has a problem with that. It's the 'jokes' about needing to get some time away from his nagging wife or how you wouldn't feed that to your mother in law. It's all just very casual misogynism.
And how do we know it isn't reciprocated by his wife? We see what he says a lot, and just assume she doesn't give back in the form of casual misandty? Just seems like thicker skin is needed here imo.
I mean, if your argument is sexism and misogyny is ok if someone else is also sexist that's not a great argument. Would you say it's ok for him to make racist jokes about his wife as long as she also made racist jokes about him?
Nah, I just think we know one side of a relationship where a guy thinks the world of his wife and people are reading far too much in to it. Joking about sexism and bring sexist are two very different things. I personally find what he says funny and if for a moment a thought he was actually degrading his wife then I'd absolutely agree with the topic of this thread. People are just reading far too much into this imo. Have a great day 😊.
I'll agree to disagree my friend. He's not joking about sexism he's making very common sexist jokes. While making sexist jokes may not be as bad as being intentionally and actively sexist it's still very much a form of sexism and is one of the most pervasive types of sexism that most women will encounter on pretty much a daily basis.
It's no different than making jokes based on racist stereotypes (black people can't swim, Asian people can't drive etc). I doubt you'd say "Oh they're not really racist, they're just telling racist jokes. That's two different things"
Have a great day too mate 👍
Find a hobby mate jfc
Maybe stop defending sexism mate? Jfk.
Fuck off mate
As eloquent as expected.
Agree, the OP comes off as a bit elitist. I don't understand what's with all the hate towards him.
They're setting him up to win. Calling it now. And it's going to disappoint me. But masterchef loves rewarding a bumbling good ol true blue Aussie who's seen as the humble underdog.
I doubt it.
I really believe half the people here have no idea how a TV show on broadcast TV is made.
I'll concede that he's performed well in pressure tests and invention tests, but there's no way he's making it through that semi finals service challenge.

He's been first in what 3 pressure tests now? Won 5 team challenges? What are u on about
When he made the first 'joke' everyone went along with it so he thought he was on to something with his folksy bs. If I have to hear one more recipe that is from Auntie fucking Merle or Cousin Frida ... ugh. Yeah - I hope he is gone soon too. :)
Makes a change from Nona recipes I suppose
I just think he is a bad cook.... the bar is really low this year they all seem like quite ammature cooks besides a couple
Hahahaha are you serious??
Agree. The way he talks about “Peeza” in the 3 person grinds my gears!
It’s not even the jokes that bother me. I just find his personality grating.
i do think he is just trolling us like someone mention here before as he know more than he let on as he may act like bogan but the dude is not just a butcher as previous couple episodes reveal that he own a farm which is now run by his wife and son while he away on masterchef .
He certainly have some business acumen in his noggin to be running a business especially a farm and masterchef just want to brand him as just butcher but he more than that . i am surprised he did well in pressure cook and last two elimination . i guess masterchef want to brand him as everyday working class man but he is far from it . he is farm owner probably more well off than average bogan for sure .
Maybe he will win this as it seem the case as andy is literally in love with his humble background like like angry
Sorry OP, but the invincible Iron Butcher of Tasmania just survived another elim (no woks given)
You might want to turn this into a hidden spoiler.
I genuinely feel sorry for people who are so easily offended by something like this. Getting through life must be incredibly traumatic.
I feel so sorry for so many miserable people on this sub when I read the episode discussions
I hate the way he calls her 'the wife'. Gag.
Apparently, some people call him “the butcher”!
The missus
What's he supposed to call her???
She has a name. Or even 'my wife' sounds a lot better.
Maybe he doesn't want to say her name on national TV. People like privacy.
I know what you mean, it resembles "I hate my wife" humor very closely where the rhetoric is generally based on the idea that the wife is a "nagging bitch".
I don't know if Pezza has necessarily said much or anything that resembles that though.
Don't forget 'the mother-in-law'
His jokes are really not that bad though
Men in this country sure do seem to hate women.
Jeez. Lighten up, hes goofing and i guarantee his wife goofs on him. Ill point out its also what working class men do. If this offends you, youre with the wrong person.
Op would never survive a day outside the city
Bingo. Op dies without soy latte
Cmon pezza! Prove these crazies wrong and win it all!
Amen. He's season-ruining for me. 😭
What are the degrading jokes?

People say this all the time as a joke. Calm down. Everyone in the room laughed. A lot.
This is literally the only joke he made at the expense of his wife. Every other missus joke has been to self deprecate. Literally having a meltdown over 1 line
Any other examples?
Can y’all calm down with the spoilers in the title? Some of us get the episodes later than the others.
Sorry
thanks for understanding, sorry for the tone
Why are people so quick to get offended on someone else's behalf? You don't know Pezza's wife or what sort of relationship they have. I'm sure he's been married long enough to know not to make jokes on national TV that she wouldn't be okay with.
Relax and enjoy the show, put your energy into more productive things.
I cannot stand the guy!! The Gill Pezza cook was so upsetting, I agree he gets so much slack for mediocre recipes and platings. Is he seriously in the top 10 of Masterchef. REALLY. Also he did not have to cook in that pressure round a couple of episodes ago and had a much easier pressure test. Alsoo if he makes up another family member "recipe" I will crack it.
I wanted him gone too because I thought he wasn’t really on the same level as some of the others but his Banksie Pod was pretty insane work. Got some new respect for him.
The dude has stepped up each time and done a bit better than another cook that got sent packing.
Past that, you and mum have read too much into it and missed a lot of good stuff.
I've come to realise that social media has made everyone expect that everyone else in life has the same values and view as you, or else they should be punished.
You can dislike a person or what they do without whining about it. He's a different person than you would choose to spend time with, hell he's probably a different class of person to you socially.
That doesn't mean you should be whining about it / him or shaming someone over it. Like fuck me how boring would this show be with everyone being the bloody same. It's a reality TV show.
everyone expect that everyone else in life has the same values and view as you, or else they should be punished
If it was that, I would be ok. The problem is that people want everyone in TV to be perfect, when they are not and the worse part is that the people complaining are also not perfect, usually they are just projecting how they should be and not who they are..
That's Aussie-humor, mate!
We spell it “humour” in Australia!
Sorry mate! It was the dutch saying of it.
And the humour matches the scourge of family violence infecting our communities. I guess some people think it’s funny that Australian men are killing women and children at a savage rate.

Why? Because I’m disgusted at the culture of violent men killing women and children while most people turn a blind eye?
Taking this too far.

These guys obviously don't get it and unfortunately arguing on the internet probably won't help. I agree with you though and I feel like I haven't seen anyone else mention this yet. The small "jokes", this disrespect for women on an everyday level, are just seeds of a much bigger issue. Normalising behaviour like this makes every small step towards violence that much easier to dismiss. It's really horrifying and I just can't stand to watch it being laughed off on national television (and seeing all of these people online defending it).
Thank you for your reply. I was beginning to wonder if anyone in this thread realises there is a huge problem with our culture and these jokes are the thin edge of the wedge
I care about it of course, but women make the same jokes. It's pretty clear that Pez has a good home life. He's clearly nervous everytime he's on camera and people make jokes when they are nervous.
You didnt include trans teens in your list. Why are you transphobic? Disgusting! You are what is preventing the society from reaching its full potential.
Why do you guys hate pezza so much? This is a cooking reality show, not a personality test.
Sorry, but I hope you get frustrated.. If you are not watching, why you bother to hate a single contestant that will not interfere in your life?
Sounds like you and your mom both got something stuck up your arses
Relaaax. I'm a girl and I couldn't care less.
I'm more bothered by his bollocks choux...
Not everything is a feminist issue.
Actually this is a feminist issue, or at least one of safety. When we tolerate putting down of women we perpetuate a culture which accepts violence against women. The current DFV training for non professionals focuses on part on encouraging people who see this type of behaviour to call it out.
It is absolutely not okay for this to be on our screens presented as something acceptable. I wish the editors would just cut these types of "jokes" out.
Agreed. Misogyny shouldn't be normalised.
And misandry then.
Jesus christ. The jumps this sub makes is obnoxious
Are you accusing him of beating his wife?
Giving off pick-me vibes here.
As a young woman these are exactly the kind of issues to be concerned about - entrenched misogyny disguised as 'jokes.'
What's the punchline of the jokes exactly..
Classic "I hate my wife" humor based on the "my wife is a nagging bitch" trope.
It is certainly extremely off putting.
What a reach
Giving off pick-me vibes here.
I agree with your points in general. But the whole concept of a "pick-me" is misogynist in itself, as though the only reason women could possibly have for opinions you don't agree with, is that they're desperate for the attention of men.
If you want to write off what a woman has to say, I have no issue with that, but you might want to ask yourself why you feel the need to do it in a way that revolves around their relationship to men, rather than giving them the respect of doing it based upon what they think or how they are reasoning.
Pick me? Get off your high horse lady.
I'll defend any woman, any time but you're fighting for a woman who's NEVER asked you to. You're making out like hes frequently talking down to her.
The man WORSHIPS her.
I'll also firmly decide what I'm offended by and THIS AINT IT.
I'm not fighting for his wife.
I'm saying that you are giving off pick me vibes to me because you're dismissing the misogynist jokes we need to move away from. Particularly on a national, widely-reached platform like this show.
Oh I AM?
Its never men I've had issue with, its bloody women. You.
Catty, snide, two faced, bitch remarks when I don't immediately windmill a man who dare look at me or talk to me or... god forbid, hit on me.
I care deeply about women's issues, but the war is internal.
You're quite worked up aren't you. Cup of tea could help?
And with that comment, you've just stomped all over your 'point' and proven mine ☕☕
Sure did. Because it's a waste of time talking with you. All you're doing is frothing at the mouth. /Shrug
Maybe you should have a cuppa.
I did. My guy made me one, was lovely.
This sub has become about bullying. You all do it each week, making fun of Alex's smile, Savs heritage Pezzas relationship (you dont think he and his wife have a great banter?) or each other.
Get a grip. I didnt join for this but I'm leaving thanks to it
Yes that is how feminism works. If one woman doesn't mind it, that must make it ok!
I hope he wins 😁 so he has money to get away from the wife 😂😂😂😂😂😂
i do think he is just trolling us like someone mention here before as he know more than he let on as he may act like bogan but the dude is not just a butcher as previous couple episodes reveal that he own a farm which is now run by his wife and son while he away on masterchef .

Maybe he will win this as it seem the case as andy is literally in love with his humble background like him
Pezza’s gonna all the way. Stop crying, hes gonna nail this comp.
He aint degrading his wife in any way. Proper Tassie 🔥
Oh FFS! Lighten up and get a sense of humor!
Pezza hate is cringe
i think i'd cut him some slack. he is obviously an old bloke with grandkids and has quite evidently displayed his boomer humour with "the wife" jokes. the show ran with it because other boomers might have related to him and he brings in those viewers. we cannot ascribe the editing and production fault to him. what the production should have done was told him to keep those jokes in check and cut out his portion like they do with the rest of the contestants. they're enabling him because he brings trps (no brainer). that said, i hope the showrunners read this sub and tone down the misogynistic jokes (they are not funny). also, have pezza stop referring to himself in the third person

He clearly loves, cares for, and misses his wife. If his jokes ruin your viewing experience, that's a shame.
Personally, I believe this sub's hate-boner for Pezza is way too overblown.
If we want to direct any criticism towards anyone, it's the producers + editors for continuously leaning onthe jokes as a stereotype as well as not directing Pezza away from 'degrading' his 'misso'.
