With a worse keeper, Cincy wins this 5-1 easily.
We all know who the brains behind the operation is, though. That's right, master keeper coach and former FCC legend, Mitch Hildebrandt.
In all seriousness, STL, you guys are great. I'm so glad you guys packed out that away section. Hoping your team can turn the season around and start really contending, because you deserve it
In all seriousness Cincy, you guys are super patronizing.
Hey man, I come in here with an olive branch and you gotta go do that? Did Mitch piss in your cereal? I'm being absolutely earnest when I say some of my favorite opposing fans I've ever met were STL fans. I was in the away contingent for the Tornado game and, legitimately, hanging out with STL fans during that delay was some of the most fun I've ever had on an away day
Read the room. We're having a good time in this thread
Most of the Cincy fans on Reddit are great and I know you are legit, so I don’t mean this to be mean.
That said, lots of us who are St. Louis fans remember Cincy fans from the USL days (and the first few years of MLS days) and they were not pleasant to put it lightly. Outside of this sub-reddit a very prickly bunch.
Our fanbase is going through a similar phase where there are lots of new and excited fans and expectations are probably too high.
So while compliments are well meaning and an olive branch, they can be taken in other ways. It really can depend on the poster and the feeling.
Just my take.
Yeah, I can appreciate that. It's hard to read tone online, especially if one has had negative experiences in the past. It's really hard sometimes to remember that online fan communities arnt a monolith, too.
From my general experiences, yall are a class act. Genuinely.
And I'm sorry for some of your past Cincy fan experiences. Theres always gonna be a few, I feel.
Have a good one. And, seriously, your keeper is awesome
And I'm sorry for some of your past Cincy fan experiences. Theres always gonna be a few, I feel.
All good and no need to apologize, you aren't them. I felt like I needed to provide some context and being blunt would be best. I'm a Cardinals fan, I know how rough things can be other fans showing their ass in your colors. CITY fans aren't shrouding ourselves in glory either online. Thankfully Reddit is pretty level headed so we keep on keeping on and be chill. Next match we'll talk shit about Skyline and Cincy fans will talk shit about Imo's.
