How does the sound change if the pickup moves more toward the bridge (green) vs. the neck (purple)? Where is best in your opinion for a fretless?

I have a PJ Jaguar that has stacked volume and tone pots for each pup so you blend a whole range of tones. I’d always favour that over a 3 way, personally.

This. Fat and smooth in the middle, sharp and twangy down at the end. Angle of pickup will also change the voicing as each of it’s pickup points will be from a different wave point.
