I’ve recently got into fishing a lot more lately, and me and my friend enjoy shore shark fishing (gulf of mexico in florida) as well as pond bass fishing. I have no knowledge on kayaks at all, are there any kayaks (preferably pedal driven) that i can take out through the waves and drop bait off, as well as be good for bass fishing on lakes? I’m well aware it’s better to paddle on the ocean so if there’s anyways where u can swap the pedal driven and plug it, i’d be greatly appreciated to hear about those. Thank you. (Price does not matter)
Thank you for the response, i think i’ve decided with either a hobie compass, or outback mirage. I didn’t know pedals would be more effective than paddling.
Oh man, pedals are so much more effective compared to paddling! I basically just use my paddle to get on and off of the boat ramp now.
Highly recommend the Outback over the Compass. The Compass might be marginally faster, but the Outback is an end-game boat. That's definitely the one you want, if you can afford it!
It’s definitely a hard choice between the two. My only worry is i’m 18 and definitely not the strongest in the world, the only way to transport the kayak is a roof rack on my car, my car is a little mazda hatchback so it’s by no means a tall car to lift the kayak onto the rack, my only worry is actually lifting it up without damaging the car.
Plenty of videos out there showing you how to put your kayak easily onto your rack without damage or arm strength...you can try those suction cup things but I expect that they will just move at the wrong time...if I have to, I use a towel or cloth rug runner (rubber side facing the kayak).
If you're after advice on what boat to choose, read this guide first!. Then, try the subreddit's search function -- between these two options, the answers to most common questions should be covered.
This guide is a work-in-progress -- please let us know any thoughts and feedback you might have.
If your questions are not covered by the guide, all boat recommendation requests must include the following at a minimum:
Location: what country and region are you looking to buy a boat in? The kayak market can be very different depending on your location.
Budget: How much money do you want to spend on a boat? (Don't forget you'll need accessories such as a paddle and personal flotation device [PFD])
Intended use: What do you want to get out of the boat? There is no one boat that does everything -- a boat that's great for surfing waves or tackling whitewater won't be the same boat you want to take fishing or for a long ocean trip. Set out some realistic goals for what you expect to be doing in the boat.
Experience level: How much kayaking experience do you have? Is this your first boat?
If your original post is a request for a boat recommendation and does not contain this information, you may reply to this comment or edit your post with the details above. Any low-effort recommendation posts without the above info will be removed.

Old Town Salty PDL or something from Hobie
Get the pedals. They're actually much better in the ocean vs paddling.
You can take the pedals out as you please. There will be a hole through the deck, but there's no need to plug it. Good place to pee through, as well.
