The Live version of Rock And Roll All Nite from Alive! is the version of the song that become famous. The live version peaked at Number 12, and the studio version peaked at Number 68. Yet the studio version is the version that’s always played on the Radio. I don’t understand, if the Live Version is the version that become famous, then how come the Studio Version is always played on the Radio instead of the Live Version?
I don't listen to the radio much anymore, but the classic rock station where I live always plays the Alive! version. I honestly don't think I've ever heard the studio version... Ever.
95.5 The Mountain in Phoenix only plays one KISS song, and it's actually the live version of Rock and Roll All Nite.
I have never heard the studio version being played on the radio
Only ever hear the live version in my market, NYC/Philly.
This got me thinking. IMHO, the live versions of songs played from Dressed to Kill are all better than the studio versions.
Rock and Roll all Nite ✅
Rock Bottom ✅
C’mon and Love Me (the Unplugged version is also awesome) ✅

If we're talkin' FM "classic rock" stations, I've heard both the studio and live versions in my neck of the woods, the live version being the more common choice.
And as I said before, like Lick It Up, this should have been re-record in the studio closer to the alive version.
Instead of Strutter ‘78, a new Rock And Roll All Nite on Double Platinum. But not with the groove that leaned into disco a touch.
Damn, a studio version of "Rock and Roll All Nite" with the guitar solo woulda been a much better idea than "Strutter '78" 🤟
I love strutter 78’
So do I, but still.
No. They caught lightning in a bottle with the Alive! version. They tried to re-create it with other songs and failed, and they have made other versions that still were not as good.
They play the live version in my locality.
I’ve heard both versions played, but definitely the live version more. Probably 7/10. Now one time I did hear the live version of cold gin on the radio and that threw me off.
My local classic rock station plays the Alive! version.
Personally, I prefer the Unplugged version, but you’re right, the Alive version should get more airplay.
