Has anyone here tried using a typewriter for journaling? I just got a fantastic typewriter and I am thinking of getting a bunch of A5 papers and then type on both sides and then collect then in a binder of some sort. Maybe I could even set a limit of two A5 pages a day. Should I try it?
Manual
If my house went up in flames the one thing I would save is my manual typewriter ❤️ I have extra ronion skin paper too I think, embossed and crispy. Is that a5? Everything about it is art!
What typewriter do you have?
The one that works the best is my Smith Corona, I also have 2 Royals from different years, both manuals and has all parts but both need a few repairs and I don't want to strip the original screws by trying to get em loose. I tried every way but they want budge, so I can't get to the parts inside that need fixing! Hbu?
I have an Olivetti Linea 98, Olympia Splendid 33, Facit TP1 and Hermes 3000. The last one I actually got yesterday and it is such a nice machine! I ordered some ribbon for it, too. Facit is also pretty good.
I've never heard of them but I am definitely going to Google the crap out of it now!
I used to! I hate fussing with opening and closing three-ring binders, so I put a whole bunch of page protectors in one, and then I would just slip my pages into the page protectors as I went. Nowadays I have a discbound punch, so I would more likely just punch the pages as I went and make a discbound notebook out of them. Funny that you posted this; I was just thinking about this yesterday. I miss my typewriters.
I would be so scared to punch holes and then you are brave and now I know that I could do it without completely destroying the paper! I want more typewriters too! I used to have 8 but I'm too nice and gave them away to people I used to call friends. And you know what now that I think about it every person who pretended to be my friend that I eventually realized wasn't true they still left with some kind of consolation prize! That's how nice I am hahah
r/typewriters is quite an active sub!
Yeah I am a subscriber
For all of 2023 I used several of my typewriters to keep a daily poetry journal. One poem each day that referenced something I did or thought about during the day. Some days I did more than 1.
I’d love to typewriter journal. No typewriter though lol. I’ve done it with my computer. Printed the pages, now I just have to bind them.
I have a typewriter but I only use it for DIY ephemera messages and quotes to put on the pages of my visual journal. I write in my journal by hand.
Manual or electric?
