Generally I don't do hair care reviews because I can't really tell what my hair type is, why a product is/isn't working, and sometimes (though rarely) if a product is working or not. Fortunately, this hair care range has been working for my hair and someone wanted reviews, so this is that.

  • Hair type: Mid-back length, depending on the products I'm using my hair can go anywhere between 1a-2b. If you're thinking, Summer you don't know wtf you're talking about, hair curl range can't vary that much, I have attached pictures of my hair over the years. I also want to clarify the change in my hair is not just because of this shampoo. I had silky, straight hair as a kid, got my first haircut and my hair turned wavy (I've been explained different reasons why this happened but I'm not sure). Then I had wavy but silky hair (as in it wasn't straight but it also did not hold a style for long with securing it very very well) for a while. Then came the rough hair (Exhibit A & B) and finally back to my wavy soft hair (Exhibit C),

    • Exhibit A: During Covid era, I was using henna + indigo (along with other herbs like Amla, hibiscus, Fenugreek etc) during this time so could be protein overload.
    • Exhibit B: I started experimenting with CGM at the time. Big mistake. Big. Huge.
    • Exhibit C: Got a much needed hair cut and I started using this shampoo + mask. Do keep in mind that the salon people used a different products (idk which) for the cut but it's pretty close to how my hair looks like with this range except the shine is a little too much in the photo. IRL it definitely is not that Sunsilk ad shiny, I'll try to add a more accurate picture.
  • Scalp type: Normal, tends to oily after 2-3 days (which is also normal ig?)

  • Hair concerns: Frizz, volume and greying hair

  • Climatic conditions at the time of using the product: Tested in both humid and dry weather.

  • Routine at the time of using the product: This shampoo + mask, followed by L'oreal Dream Lengths Leave-in Curl Cream in humid weather. Just shampoo + mask in dry weather. I ocassionaly colour my greys with whatever colour I have lying around but that's more towards my roots than my lengths

  • Usage timeline: 1-2 two years now. I wash hair twice a week.

  • Ingredient List: I can't find the ingredient list online, and the one on incidecoder seems to be pointing to an older version/packaging of this product, so not sure how reliable it is. I will try to update this once I find it.

  • Texture, Consistency details: Video on amazon demonstrating textures of all three products in this range

    • Shampoo: Pale yellow, almost glittery looking, typical shampoo texture
    • Conditioner: Pale yellow, thick, yogurt like. Can feel silicone-y on hands for a while.
  • Fragrance: Not strong but definitely there. It's a distinct fragrance but I don't know how to describe it.

  • Experience and thoughts in detail:

    • The shampoo cleanses well, without drying hair. I've not seen hair fall get worse or better with this. Lathers decently and washes off easily. Can be used to clean oiled hair as well. It's not THE most gentle shampoo but it's not stripping either. Personally found it to be the correct balance between both.
    • In humid weather, I've tried this shampoo with the Liss Unlimited Mask (the pink one) and my hair was very very frizzy. (will try to find and pictures later). Never used just the shampoo in humid weather.
    • In dry weather, with just the shampoo hair was decently soft after using this but definitely a little frizzy.
    • The mask is the actual superstar out of the two. If you can get only one of these, maybe start with this. I apply it and wait for atleast 3 minutes but 10 minutes on a good day. When I rinse off, I can feel my hair feeling very siliconey and I need to wash it very well to get rid of most of that feeling.
    • Hair looks great after using both the shampoo & mask in both weather conditions. Smooth, frizz free (relatively), wavy and generally healthy and bouncy looking. I do wish it looked a little more shiny IRL but other than my hair looks mostly great overall. My hair still does not hold styles very well even with this mask but I've accepted it by now. Never used the mask without the shampoo so can't attest to that.
  • Holy Grail / Will Re-purchase / Will Not Repurchase / Holy Fail Status: HG but I'm also interested in trying the new Absolut Repair Molecular range.
