“The lightweight profiler” which you can enable on Steam gets me a significant FPS boost and less stuttering issues. I used to get 130-150 on 1080p, now I get 150-170 (RTX2080ti i9-10850k with a maxed out graphic setting)

Hey folks, We have noticed that some of you have been reporting issues relating to stuttering while playing the game. Some get it when entering and leaving compounds, or opening/closing the map, while others encounter it a lot more frequently. Currently we are testing something out and require your help/feedback on the matter.

We have created a temporary beta profile in Steam that we would like some of you to test for us. To set this up, right click on the game and select properties. Go to the beta tab, select the beta branch called “lightweight_profiler” from the drop down menu and then close the tab.

This will start a small download, and once it is complete run the game as normal. With this profile active, we want to know how it is running for you (better, worse or the same). Please let me know how this goes as this feedback will be particularly important in helping us determine the root cause of these stuttering issues. If you notice that there are no improvements, I would ask you to reach out to me directly via DM with a copy of the game.log file that is produced after the matches on this branch. Thanks. link

If you're looking for the root cause, it might have something to do with resolution/the monitor, my friend never had freezing when opening the map like I always have but since he got a new monitor a week ago he has started having it, no other PC parts changed.

Does that monitor have G-Sync(Free Sync) on it?

I believe it has free sync enabled yes. pixio px77 prime. I never had the Tab/map issue once on my 1080p monitor for 2 years, but I switched to 1440p and it immediately started happening

I just built my new PC, using the same monitor and same GPU and I now get the map freeze. Never had it on my old PC. RTX 2070 with an AMD 5800x.

Yo this is the first time I hear about this! I've just bought a new curved msi monitor with freesync and Hunt has been completely fucked since

I've had that for a few patches. Since the last patch, it has progressed to happening nearly constantly if I try and traverse the map too quickly. No PC parts were changed or any kind of change happened except the game was updated.

Hopefully this fix works.

EDIT: Nope, if anything it occurs more frequently now.

I tried it and my fps go down like 10-20 from 80-90 to 60-75 and stuttering starts - i dont have it with normal game version. Ones in the center of compound while fighting zombies i got a huge fps drop to like 1or 2 and then slowly starts ro rise again but whole thing last like 2-3 seconds.

My setup - i7 3770, 8GB DDR 3, RX 570 8 GB, Win 10

I’d kill for 160fps. Although I am on 1440p.

On my old 1080ti I’d get around 80-55 medium settings

On my new 3080 I get around 70-100 max settings.

Can’t tell if really intense game or badly optimized game. Or maybe I’m just fucking something up in the settings.

What's your cpu?

I get 50-70fps at 1440p on max on a 2060 with 100% use on an i5 7500.
I've a 5600x coming so I'm looking forward to how that changes it.

I have a Ryzen 5 1600 (@3.95ghz) and a GTX 1080 (not the TI version) @ 1440p, and I get 85-105fps with everything at medium, except for lighting and shadows which are at low. I feel like your 1080Ti with 8700K aren't getting what they should considering I'm getting better fps on my hardware.

Edit: even if I leave lighting and shadows at medium I still get ~75-95fps but the lighting looks like shit when it's set to medium for some reason.

If you aren’t overclocked at all then that is most likely your problem. I’m getting 150-160fps on average with dips to 125-130 using a 5900x/3080ftw3 combo. I had a 8700k @5ghz with a cache overclock as well and I got a pretty consistent 110-130 FPS.

This actually helped, jumped on hunt earlier, had major MAJOR stuttering unlike anything I had before. Practically every turn I made it would stutter and the textures would take forever to load. Game was literally unplayable. Remembered this post and decided to try it out, and it actually helped. Still a bit of stuttering here and there, but not like what it was when I first started hunt up. The stuttering now is most likely just from the internet I'm using.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

For anyone who happens upon this subreddit and is looking for a solution, I believe I might have you covered.

There appears to be a serious stuttering issue caused by running Wallpaper Engine and Hunt: Showdown at the same time.

Try closing WE and that should hopefully do the trick.

I've only played one game so far but this seems to help. Usually I get little jitters randomly the whole time I'm playing and in general the game seems like it's struggling [I think I'm barely or just under minimum CPU specs] with this I would get BIG stutters when entering a compound but the rest of the time I think it was quite a bit smoother.

So I had mild success with this fix to fix stuttering with my map. It was working for approximately 5-6 games and then my FPS started tanking for no reason.

I had two issues occur. First I was running duos and my teammate loaded into the game while I was stuck on loading screen which was still scrolling the hints but never connecting. I let it sit for about 5 minutes and closed hunt with alt+f4

I started having severe fps drop right before I experienced a near fatal crash. The game straight up locked up for me which usually results in me having to task kill hunt but even that was unresponsive while Hunt was frozen. After about 30 painful seconds it miraculously came back and I was still in game and the severe fps drop ceased, but I was back to having the stuttering with the map again.

That seems like the Infinite loading bug I have experienced several times before. It feels like only happens when I play with my friend in a different region, or my network connection gets bad cuz my gf uses it up for downloading movies or watching Netflix ( my network sucks anyway)

5 games in so far, having some success. The freezes are still there, but they are much less frequent and usually end, which they almost never did before.

I will give it a try tonight if I get the chance to. Does this apply to people who have steam reporting a constant 120 FPS even when it stutters? My game never drops in FPS and doesn't max out my CPU or memory, but since a certain patch in 1.4, there are little stutters every few minutes. It usually goes away altogether after like an hour of play for whatever reason which makes it even weirder.

i had stutters that didn't really bother me but now overtime it's becoming more noticeable and annoying and now it's to the point where it's almost unplayable because i can never have a clean battle with people without it stuttering. i tried everything to fix it and even optimized my pc again and it still stutters like crazy at times. hope the devs get a fix for this soon because it's literally game breaking for me and this is the only game i really enjoy.

I still get really bad stuttering but I learned that alt tabbing ends it (it comes back but it's good to have a few minutes lag free when combat starts).

I have an experience to share.

I've played hunt with an Rtx 2070 Super on a Ryzen 9 3950x, no stutters EVER.
Changed to an Rtx 3090, no stutters EVER.
Changed to a Ryzen 5800x, Stutters on almost every single round. Mostly when entering a new compound but not always tbh.
Even though the 5800x should be a frankly better processor for gaming, it seems like the extra cores of the 3950x kept the game from suffering from these stutters.
Nothing else changed.
Same resolution, G-sync active on the same monitor, same everything basically. The stutters were immediately apparent with the new cpu, had them on the first minutes of the first round after swapping the processor.

Yeah, the combination of DX11, lack of CPU optimization, and over reliance on as many threads as possible makes this game hell to play. Even turning settings down to utter garbage with 50% resolution scaling still stutters. Wish the game used a different engine like Frostbite, Avalanche, or Unreal Engine 4, all of which are far better than the incompetent CryEngine.

I've found 2 possible fixes for this:

In Steam game properties go to the Launch options depending on your gear type:-cpuCount=8 -maxMem=10240
Probably the actual fix is that for some reason you cannot change the priority of the game so in order to change it you need to make a new rule in the registry

- Windows key + R then type "regedit"- then in the registry go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options-There make a new key called "Huntgame.exe" and in this folder make another one called "PerfOptions"In PerfOptions create new DWORD and call it "CpuPriorityClass" and set its value to 3 a leave it on Hexadecimal

After this, my game went from ~55FPS to stable 72FPS with no stuttering whatsoever and it runs like butter.

Can confirm, this worked for me -- I have Windows 11 build 22593.ni, AMD 5900x, nVidia 3090, and a 3440x1440 144Hz monitor -- with the following changes I am seeing mostly max frames (saw it dip to 112 in some instances) at max resolution:

Launch Options "-cpuCount=12 -maxMem=10240"
Registry Addition for PerfOptions -> CpuPriorityClass -> 3
