Hi guys, I’ve noticed so much Muslim baddies who are modest and stuff and I’m wanting to put more effort into dressing up. I’m wondering if u guys wear makeup? I notice some muslims wear very light and modest makeup, but personally I’ve always hated washing my makeup off so that’s why I don’t rlly wear it. but I’m wondering if u guys do and if so like how much? Im asking for day to day makeup not event makeup lol. Thanks!
Personally no, cause I don't really like how it looks on me. Other than lip gloss/lip oils, I try to stay natural so my skin can breathe. Plus I think it would mess with my self-perception since I'm already pretty sensitive to body image issues, so I don't want to torture myself further lol. Since natural makeup tends to mostly be foundation and concealer, I'm instead aiming to fix my skin problems and focus on skincare.
see, I’m exactly the same but I feel like it’s just so hard because on social media all the beautiful hijabis always have like on make up and it’s hard not to compare yourself to them
Unfollow them! It's not a.positive result from watching them. Do they teach you anything to become a better muslim?
I feel you, it’s hard for me too. I constantly compare myself and I don’t feel like the pretty, aesthetic hijabi most of the time. But health, skin care, and hijab style can help you feel more confident! For example, I feel better when my skin is clear. It helps me not compare too much and also appreciate what I have. It may help you to work on things besides make up, unless you’re interested in doing makeup. Also, I know everyone says this but social media really is full of filters, particular angles, lighting, etc. which do not reflect real life. Make up, even minimal makeup, doesn’t look as perfect as it does online. Don’t let comparison put down your natural beauty ❤️
Everyday: I usually focus on skincare more rather than makeup. I only wear lipgloss or lip oil and sunscreen when I go out. Sometimes, I’ll add a good moisturizer or face oil for additional glow but that’s about it.
I do wear makeup to events - usually a bb cream, eye pencil, mascara, blush, highlighter, and lipstick. This way I still try to stay in touch with makeup skills if needed. Nothing too heavy though.
Tbh, every person has a different idea of comfort and self-image. Best of luck in exploring your idea of comfort, identity, and self esteem. Have fun 😊✨
Assalaamalaikum.
Respectfully, we really shouldn't aim to be "Muslim baddies" to non-mahrams. Hijab means modest, baddie means quite the opposite.
I focus more on skincare. Most days I either go barefaced, maybe I'll use an eyebrow gel to tame my brows and curl my lashes. For events, I'll do more but not full foundation or anything. Honsestly, I wish I didn't have to doll myself up for events where non-mahrams are around but unfortunately my family would be upset if I didn't (culture).
Back during the 2016 beauty-guru craze (and before I converted), I wouldn't leave the house without a full beat glam (foundation, contour, winged eyeliner, glitter, the whole shebang). Let me tell you, it wasn't worth it. Waking up at 6am to do makeup for an hour just to go to class is so ridiculous, in retrospect. I can't even imagine how silly I looked going to the grocery store with a whole face of makeup.
Do you actually see "Muslim baddies" in real life? Probably not; they're all online. Just keep yourself groomed and that is enough for 99.9% of society.
salam i always feel guilty for wearing makeup cause i have dark spots so i use foundation to cover them. Even though my skin is getting better i still have those stubborn dark spots. i really want to cut out on makeup how did you manage to do this if you have any tips? x
Vitamin C serums are meant to be really good for dark spots!
Also, I bet you're the only one who sees the dark spots. I've realised that I never really notice when other people have imperfections, so I doubt other people see mine. It's a process but becoming comfortable in your own skin is so satisfying. There's no shame in your own skin! Try going barefaced more often - start with being barefaced in places where you won't see anyone you know (e.g. grocery store, on walks, etc) and go from there.
thank you so much for this Inshallah i’ll try more, i know im nearly at the point of where i don’t care how i look but i’m going to keep making dua that i get there.
Inshallah, may Allah swt bring us peace.
I have no clue how old you are but for me it was something that came with age. As a teenager/young adult I was really preoccupied with my looks. As I started working/got married/etc., other things became more important 😅
i’m a teenager my mum also says when i get older these things won’t stress me out as much and i won’t be bothered 😂
Dear sister, Retinoids and vitamin c help brighten dark spots! Make sure to use sunscreen as well as they can make your skin photo-sensitive
thank youu i do use sunscreen i love it cause it also makes my skin look healthier i’ll try out retinoids Inshallah. do you have any particular recommendations?
I'm not who you were replying to, but I'd recommend starting with retinoids/vit C serums you can get at the drugstore. If you're in the UK, Boots has decent skincare that won't cost too much. Once you know what you're doing, you can investigate fancier brands.
Remember never to use retinoids and vitamin C at the same time! Most do retinoids in evening and vit C in morning. Check out r/skincareaddiction to see what's up.
Thank you this is so helpful definitely will check it out
Vitamin C and also a good exfoliant. Be careful with those though--you don't want something to harsh for your skin type. Or, you can invest in some rice extract products. My skin scars sooo easily and the scars last for a while. I've recently been using The Face Shop's rice extract line and my skin has not looked this good in a while Allhumdulillah.
Jazakallah khair sister x
I usually wear makeup when I’m on my period because wearing it when I’m not means potentially interfering with salah. I do sometimes wear it when I’m not bleeding like for parties or when I’m going for an interview or something but I tend to go quite minimal these days, I just want my spots covered and maybe a bit of mascara and blush. Nothing too fancy and intricate :) plus I’m terrible at doing makeup so 😂 pointless me going all out if I’m going to look like a clown!
I wear makeup bc I like it. I do looks that are modest and some that are glam depending on the event. I don't use makeup to attract others personally, I'm not trying to attract anyone with it. The reason I wear makeup is that it makes me feel good, but I feel equally happy without makeup too.
I think that modesty comes from our personality, of course how we present ourselves plays a role, but I find many modest people are modest with their humbleness and kindness, rather than what they look like.
I don't justify wearing make-up infront of non-mahrams, but my every day makeup consists of slight concealer under my eyes (my sleep schedule is so inconsistent so i get dark undereyes sometimes), mascara, a little brow lowder towards the arch of my eyebrows and a nude lipstick blended with my fingers or pink lipgloss. sometimes i add a peachy dewy blush too
honestly i don't really wear makeup out of the house anymore. if i do it's typically only blush to hide my blemishes lol. i've noticed my eyelashes are much thicker now that ive stopped wearing false eyelashes and mascara 🥰
Concealer under my eyes, fill in my eyebrows and lip gloss, and then if I’m going out like to lunch or work I’ll do mascara and light blush
None of this makes me look overdone or unnatural; it just helps me look more awake and put together. I definitely don’t feel like I’m calling attention to myself with this amount so it’s comfortable for me
No. The most I wear is matt lipstick. I sometimes want to wear it but it's too much effort for me to put it on and take it off.
Not a hijabi but I wear moisturizer, very lightly tinted lip balm and i just curl my lashes (no mascara)
I might be wrong but you’re more likely to break the lashes if you curl after putting on mascara because you run the risk of the curler getting stuck to the lashes. There shouldn’t be issues otherwise. I would also recommend not getting a very cheap curler. Not saying you should go full luxury brand either, but one that’s in between.
I don't wear make-up on a daily basis but if I'm going out with friends or to work (I go in the office once a month), I usually just spot conceal, smudge a bit of brown eyeliner in my lower lashline and use a lip tint. If I'm feeling extra, I might add the tiniest hint of blush and mascara.
I only properly wear make-up when there's an event, and then I pretty much go all out.
Yes, I love wearing makeup. I work from home though so it’s super important to get into the zone. I also don’t stay in pj’s all day. I do these things to feel put together. It’s obviously not a super elaborate makeup because I’m at home lol. I do skin care, concealer, blush, lipstick/lip liner. I brush and curl my eye lashes too but not products on them.
Oh and i like adding perfume.
It depends on how much time I've on my hand. I'm mom of 3 kids so I've to make sure my little bunch is ready alongside of me.
So if I've time I would go for BB cream, eye shadow, eyeliner (if I'm in the mood), mascara, lipstick, blush. I usually do this on special occasions like eid or some family gatherings.
If I don't have time then mascara and lipstick and a quick blush with my lipstick.
Wow I think I always wear makeup, blush and lip color is my standard. My lip color is brownish orange or red, its definitely in a bolder category. Its so incredible that you girls barely wear makeup, I don’t think Im there yet. My skin is nice but :( i like that little edgy look. Hopefully one day I can be more modest. InshAllah
No. I wear skincare and chapstick.
I jjust wear clear mascara on my eyelashes and brows and rosy lips vaseline and call it a day.
I dont wear makeup because firstly It doesn't really attract me, and secondly because you can wear makeup for going out like full makeup. I only put some lip cream and that's it
Disclaimer I don’t advocate for makeup
Im leaving a phase where I wear makeup, it’s too much of a hassle to wash it off all the time and I’m trying hard to start wearing niqab, but during that time where I wore makeup I’d wear foundation and concealer, lipgloss with a lip liner, and some days eyeliner and other days only mascara. But I’ve started shifting my gears towards skincare now instead of makeup so my skin can glow and all I have to worry about is lipgloss and my lashes
I don’t and you should avoid it
As modest as I can be yes. Usually when around the home though, no.

No I haven’t for the past few years. Maybe a bit of liner and mascara if my husband is taking me out to dinner or something.
I tend to wear makeup on my period, when I’m not on my period I usually stick to lipgloss, and when my skin has an eczema flare up I’d use concealer as well. But usually I try to reduce the makeup.
Not at all. 1st, I don't know how to do makeup. 2nd, I'm a niqabi so I don't really feel the need. Alhamdulilah. But before I started wearing niqab I still didn't put on any makeup because I wasn't interested, nor I could do my makeup (both reasons just reinforce each other, lol).

Yes I wear makeup but as long as it's properly made
I wear makeup occasionally and cover with niqab when i do
Wudu :) And sunscreen when I remember to use it lol
i wear surma, curl my lashes and apply mascara, and lip balm. sometimes lip gloss/lipstick. i try to shy away from foundation since i don’t like how it looks over my textured skin, so i just focus on skincare. every once in a while i will do eyeshadow, but very basic neutral colours. i’ve wanted to get into eyeshadow a bit, but it never turns out how i want. i used to do a natural brow but got lazy so i haven’t lately.
Nope, only wear lipgloss. Other than that, I’m deathly afraid of breaking out, and that fear even keeps form using facial cleansers lol
I mostly focus on skin care and I will wear a chapstick or neutral lipgloss. I find it inconvenient to wear makeup on a daily basis. I do like to wear it on occasions when I’m at home usually only when my period is on though. I do find it fun to do once in a while then but definitely not an everyday thing.
I just wear lip gloss, wearing a lot of makeup isn't permissible (I'm not sure about very natural makeup though)
