so I recently was speaking to a new friend of mine who is Moroccan herself (I'm bengali) and she said something about how abayas are Arab culture and she hates when people wear them like a trend

I've been wearing only abayas for about 5 years now and even grew up wearing them as a child also so I neve thought about this viewpoint. Even family back home wesr abayas and other non-Arabs I know have been wearing abayas for a long time also

I see that there is this sudden new trendiest behind wearing abayas and khimars and I also thought it was annoying that people were treating it like a trend when it is just dressing modestly but I don't want my friend thinking I'm disrespecting her culture, it's just what I'm used to

Also she said something about how my culture's modest dress is the salwar kameez but obviously since its easier to wear an abaya out, especially since its not as normalised to wear salwar kameez out that she understood why I dress the way I dress. and she said somehtabout hoe you can dress modestly without having to wear an abaya which of course I understand its just (and I know people have differing opinions about this but this is just got me) to me, I don't find trousers fully modest, like I would pray in just trousers, I would need a skirt or a dress on top. so ofc it's easier and comfortable for me to wear an abaya but as I said before I don't want anyone to be offended by me wearing an abaya
