I am required to have a headset for an upcoming lecture I'm giving via the Web. I'm looking for something reasonable (less than $100) that'll do the trick. Any thoughts? My preference is over the ear, but will buy the best recommended product no matter.

This might be a wild recommendation, but the Drop/Sennheiser PC37X. It's on sale on Drop's website for $79 right now (https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-sennheiser-pc37x-gaming-headset).
Now, it's technically a gaming headset, but it's open back (meaning you can hear your surroundings with it on, including hearing yourself talk) and is extremely comfortable to use. It has a flip to mute mic, and a volume adjustment wheel on the other side. As long as whatever you're using has a headphone & mic port, it'll work (you can also get a cable that connects both into a single TRRS jack: https://drop.com/buy/sennheiser-pcv-05-headset-adapter). I use mine at work to make calls, and if you game, it doubles as a good gaming headset ;)
!thanks
