I can’t believe anyone still clamoring for Palmer to replace Saka instead of Foden after this game…
I want Saka to be benched. Rice as well. But that probably won't happen anyways. So I hope Switzerland kicks them out.
I’m Swiss so even though I don’t like seeing any of our boys underperform there’s no way England will get anything out of us if they keep playing this way!
If England keep pressing like they've been doing so far, Xhaka will be having a field day.
England have been pressing?
My point exactly
They've been depressing
What pressing would that be ? , only 2 attempts on target, fortunately both go in ,pathetic again
Same here. Don't forget, Saka is still nursing a groin injury and is playing 120 mins! Southgate also needs to stop trying to force this Foden lad into the English team. He keeps passing to the opposition every match.
Foden has had a way worse tournament than Saka, but he's England's golden boy (doesn't play for Arsenal and is not black) so he's protected every time, even if he literally doesn't do anything for the team.
Good God shut up. Being a fan of a premier league team and hoping for England to do shit is so tacky.
Even if you only care about Arsenal you're actively hoping for our best players to have a miserable time as Rice and Saka both love playing for England.
You’re being hated but I agree, English club
Our best players play for Germany, France, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Ukraine, Poland, oh, and England too.
I want Saka and Rice back at London Colney and I don't give half a fuck about some inbred king who needs God to save him, and whose biggest life achievement is that his mother died.
And you shouldn't actively want our other best players to fail for Germany, France, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Ukraine or Poland either.
But England most of all because despite the global fanbase Arsenal is an English club, based in the English capital with English matchgoing fans, an English academy and is rooted in English culture.
It has fuck all to do with the King so no idea why you brought him up.
I brought up that turnip faced stiff because that's what the players sing before matches and fans chant during matches.
I can be an Arsenal fan and dislike the English team. When we were Invincibles, English football had very little to do with it. In fact, Wenger-ball was as anti-English as Steve McLaren and Gareth Southgate could ever imagine if they were suddenly gifted with an imagination.
I love Arsenal for our diversity, for our style of play, for being pioneers in integrating Black players, for being early to having a competitive women's team, and for being the least English club in England.
Most matches I watched were on TV. I've been to the Emirates and to Highbury a few times. I know the history of the club. It's a dissonance that I have to live with, and I'm comfortable with even if you don't like it.
So COYG! Allez Les Bleus! And fuck all royals wherever they are!
Fans don't chant God save the King after matches haha. It's a national anthem not a football song. Most Brits would express the same sentiment you have about the royals.
And the invincibles had black ENGLISH players in the spine so did the women's team. The reason Arsenal is as diverse as it is because London, the capital of England, is the most diverse city on the planet. England is diversity - trying to say Arsenal is anti English because it's diverse is ridiculous and shows you don't understand the club.
Wenger came to England, changed the English game and is revered for it not hated as an outsider.
Trying to delineate England and Arsenal is honestly unreal. We are the beating heart of this England side and Arsenal is as English as it comes.
then, it’s gonna be a shock to you when you’ll realize they are far more international fans of Arsenal than English ones… haha
There are probably more international Arsenal fans than there are English people, period. Doesn't change anything I said.
I do! I don't care for England and just want Saka to rest
Give me Eze please
that turn on the left was so sweet
He’s my dream for Arsenal for the summer! He’s lightening quick, agile & smooth on the ball. And he just seems so likeable!
I bet it’s also his dream. Just make it happen edu
Would love to see him brought in if ESR goes
💯
Thought he had a very good game at left back when Southgate decided to push Saka to the left wing.
Conversely, I was reminded why we've reportedly been high on Ian Toney in the past when he came on. His hold up play was exemplary and he provided the assist for Kane's winner. I wonder if we'd consider actually going in for him?
Rumours are that he was the player we were interested in but his attitude put Edu and Arteta off.
I'm aware of the rumours surrounding our supposed reservations about his attitude. Personally, I like him a player and wouldn't object to us taking a punt on him.
Nah. Arteta worked hard to get Auba, Ozil, Douzi etc out of the club and look where we are now.
I’m glad we walk away from the problem players. The bigger picture is far more important than what Toney can bring us in the short term.
Or Dani olmo. Whichever is fine 😁
The math looks weird, how is the average for both teams only behind the top runner?
The 2nd-5th next best runners are all behind the team average?
Might be related to subs covering less total distance but more distance per 120
The stats are weird, the average of the top 3 from England comes out lower than the average listed.
Uefa has the total distance covered listed as 151,2 km and 156,9 km.
I imagine average is calculated as every player including subs /11 (or maybe excl. Gk and /10). Subs will weight the average up as they tend to run a lot more per minute than players doing the whole 120 like Rice
Btw Pekarik is 38yo and he played just 10 league matches in last two seasons. Love this guy so much, he deserved to score his chance in overtime.
When guehi is covering more distance them your midfielders and wingers/ full backs.
It's ridiculous
The top 5 are those who played the full 120 minutes, naturally. The stat should be adjusted to "distance per 90" to make it have any meaning.
Bellingham is going to get all the plaudits but Rice was my MOTM
I don't think he had a very good game. If he gives away simple balls like he did last night against the Swiss on Saturday, we'll get minced. He's not been great all tournament as a deep 6 - it's as if his deep lying partner playing beside him, be that Arnold, Gallagher or Mainoo are on a different wavelengths - there's a real disparity there.
Main thing he's been good at all tournament is ball recovery - a hall mark of what makes him so good when he plays for us.
I wonder if allowing him more freedom to come forward with another player covering the space is a better way to use him. Foden / Trippier (probaby Eze next match if he's injured) would need to be super switched on for this to work, mind.
Well Saka went from RW to LB to RWB
I'm not surprised by Saka's stats he played in multiple positions 😅🤦🏻♂️
Unrelated. I feel like Arteta's coaching team would cook with Guehi. He could be a GabiXL successor.
Edit: Also, it hurts me when Saka waits for 3 mins to get a pass that he can't do anything with.
GabiXL is 26. Long time before we should be looking for a successor for him, especially someone only 3 years younger.
TBH I thought Guehi was a teen. LOL my fault, I don't really follow football outside of Arsenal
Guehi is great but he’s tiny.
Listed at 6’ but he’s definitely shorter than that. Same thing with trippier listed at 5’10 even though he’s a manlet
So many minutes in those legs, great that there are even more games next season.
Lobotka be pulling Brozovic numbers
Can someone explain this data to me please? I was cheering on our guys the whole time and think they could have done even better featuring them more, but I don't understand how the team average for england could be 14.46km if Rice is the only player above that figure, and the team average for Slovakia could be 15.11 if only Lobotka is over that figure. I probably am missing something. What is it?
That's very high mileage for Saka and Rice. Ditto Saliba. Don't care for international tournaments. Arsenal comes first for me. I'd like nothing more than our lads getting a well earned rest during the off season.
Estandards.
The lads took their foggin estandards to the euros
Put some respect on it 👊🏾
I understand there are 11 in a team. We take away the goal keeper there is 10. So literally if I play I would qualify for Top 10 too?
Nuff said
Would have sworn Bellingham would be up here because he was running around everywhere
Bellingham played 15 minutes less. Unsurprisingly, the top five are exactly those who played the whole 120 minutes...
Like a headless chicken more like. If there were an award for worst man of the match, he'd be competing for it with Foden, had he not scored that goal.
So what? Why are we fishing for positives for our players we know are being handicapped by a clueless coach? This reeks of desperation. As a fan base, can we have some thicker skin?
A Slovak player outran an English player by 500m (or 3%), on average. This should be unacceptable.
Yea our boys are going to start the season in october at this rate
