Crimson fists were the Rogue Trader (and beyond) poster chapter!
Oh yeah, cover models for my first codex (3rd)!
I canāt wait to see the Templars reaction if Dorn comes back and has to try and impress upon them that the Emperor isnāt a god
Dorn: The emperor is not a god
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: NO.
Dorn: Yes.
Black templars: Fine.
Dorn: Good.
Black templars: keeps worshipping the emperor as a god when nobody is looking
I wonder if theyād be ballsy enough to attack Dorn. They already straight up killed the first chunk of Primaris guilliman himself gave them.
Theyāre down for any kind of dumb shit
I think attacking their primarch would swiftly turn them into renegades, seeing how all the other IF chapters adore Dorn. Remember that after the ultramarines the imperial fists have the most successors AND they have the good faith of the Terran lords and administratum.
One small crusade. It's not like the entire chapter killed all primaris marines.
Yeah it was a crusade of like 1 squad wasn't it?
Led by an kinda insane chaplin right.
Forgive me, but I can foresee this going slightly differently should it happen.
Dorn: The emperor is not a god
Black Templars: "Maybe not then, Lord Father, but now?" [gesticulates in general direction at "holy" Warp-fuckery "miracles" happening]
[random kid/new-Saint in the distance transmutes Nurglite daemons into pure, fresh water and delicious pot pies (because Psychic Awakening whooptidoo)]
Dorn: [tired sigh ]
Dorn comes back, make Black Templars to change their beliefs after bloody infighting inside the chapter. Next year there is a psy supernova in the warp, most of the Terra and Mars populations are wiped out and Emperor ascends.
āGod fucking damnitā says Dorn.
Central power is gone, various segments, forge worlds or planets use the opportunity to go independent and start fighting each others. Xenos and Chaos use the opportunity to bite as much as they can.
Dorn, Roboute and Lion start new crusade, suspending Codex Astartes on the order of the God Emperor of Humankind, who now directly rules the Empire through his Avatar
IF got to poster boy for 30K at least a little. I love all the sons of Dorn, but the imperial fists are so much less interesting than literally any of the successors.
And the only reason IF were somewhat interesting in 30k was because of those characters that would eventually make their own far more interesting and fun chapters, leaving the IF in the dust.
Even as an IF player, I can't take issue with this statement.
I started off with Crimson Fists and have expanded to a last wall protocol army. (I got bored of painting CF) But, I do love all the sons of Dorn still.
As much as I dislike them, I can't deny that the Black Templars are a hell of a lot more memorable than whatever their parent legion was called.
I think it was the Emperor's Knuckles
Their signature strategy is called "The Shocker" twin pronged assault.
Bro also crimson fists are better than 40k imperial fists
Who let Brother Richmond out?
Sister Justitia Barbaria found him in the ServoSkull room
THE RAINFOREST, SISTER!
Did he bring the Vox Net with him? I need to turn it off and on again, just as Brother Trenneman instructed me.
When he told the Chaplain that he found Cradle of Filth very uplifting they thought he was a Nurgle worshipper.
A victim of their own success, staying so hidden.
I think there's a couple RG Successor chapters this could apply to, actually. I think I see more Raptors around than Raven Guard.
TBF raptors and their camo are pretty cool.
Raptors have the unique trait of not being dumbasses in the 40k universe, so I can see why
Death Spectres get a decent amount of love too.
Black Guard for me. Fuck stealth, why not use ambush tactics with overwhelming firepower and air support?
I have a silly RG army that's almost entirely dreads, mostly dropped by stormravens.
The good ol' steel yeeting
There's also a dread with dual twin-linked autocannons to serve as anti-air. Fun times.
the deredeo one ?
Nah I had to kitbash it. Standard dread with a twin linked on each shoulder mounted horizontally.
Look up Mortis Dreadnoughts, they're legends. They're box dreads who take two of the same gun so like Twin heavy plasma, twin missile launchers, 2 twin autocannons etc
They're so cool
Love a good Mortis dreadnought
The codex astartes calls this manoeuvre adamantium rain!
Interestingly enough. The Raven Guard in the image is the founder of the Black Guard Gherith Arendi
Raptors during the badab war were fuckin rad
It's not our fault sharks are cooler than ravens
Duhh duhh! Duhh duhh!
Duh duh duh duh duh duh duhhh!!!! Do do do doooo! Duh duh duh!
š¦
We cant go on crusade an ill wind is blowing
Completely betray your founding vision of being pro-freedom
Have a "great time" at the drop site massacre"
Half your recruits become bird monsters
Primarch goes out for milk, doesnt return for millenniaWhen you finally get your shit together, your chapter master gets fatally dunked on by the blue man group. Before they even became a major power in their region.
Wellness check on the raven guard please
Inb4 they move in with the Votann cuz fuck it
At least the votann would suddenly have lore
I thought the Carcaradon's parent legion was still a mystery?
All but confirmed that they are exiled terran Raven Guards (who were a bit too okay with slavery and chummy with Horus for Corax's tastes).
With possibly added loyalist Night Lords DNA.
I think it's technically still a mystery, but it's implied that they're from the same raven guard exiles as the ashen claws, albeit with possible chimeric gene seed.
It's been implied that they've scavenged night lord and/or world eater gene seed, although I doubt the world eater part based on the source.
Considering the similarities amongst themselves and the Night Lords, Iād believe that over the World Eaters
They're not from the same group as the Ashen Claws. They were from a Predation fleet that predated them who were led by the original Legion Master Arkhas Fal. And like Arkhas Fal they retain the title of Shade Lord.
Ashen claws are from the raven guard exiled by corvus corax, the carcharodons are implied to also be from the exiled raven guard. If both came from the raven guard corvus exiles, that makes them from the same group; the exiled raven guard fleet aka the exiled raven guard predation fleet. The same predation fleet that was lead by Arkhas Fal after corvus exiled them.
The Ashen Claws were the remnants of the Terran Raven Guard after Gate 42 which was led by Praetor Calvus later Nerat Kirine. Arkhas Fal led the predation fleet that were exiled when Corax was first introduced to his Legion. They would be known as the Forgotten Ones unrelated to the Ashen Claws.
The Terran raven guard were gathered together by corax after Gate 42Ā and exiled to the outer rim of the galaxy in a predation fleet headed by arkhas fal. Among them were the 18th chapter of the raven guard who would later become the renagade chapter called the Ashen Claws and presumably the predecessors of the carcharodons.
Also it's The Forgotten One, singular. It's one guy, revered by the ashen claws and carcharodons. Presumably he's arkhas fal or corvus corax, but we don't know. We do know it's one guy because the book Outer Dark has a conversation between carcharodons and ashen claws where they call him the Forgotten One. One, singular.
I have literally looked into this multiple times over the last few years, this is the stuff every information source says. You're in the right area, but you keep mixing up your lot tidbits
Did you not read my comment? The Ashen Claws predation fleet was led by Praetor Calvus not the former Legion Master Arkhas Fal so it can't be the same predation fleet. Other than that everything is up to speculation.
I don't think they've scavenged night lord geneseed, I think that's just a misreading.
I think the world eater implications are a misreading, so you might be right about that. I don't remember the passages that implied night lord gene seed was used.
I do know there's a moment in a book where the carcharodons and ashen claws are trading gene seed for gear and the ashen claws make sure that the gene seed isn't from the carcharodons themselves.Ā
They called the sharks something like mutts or otherwise implied their gene seed is somehow tainted. Could just be referring to the degradation of space shark gene seed over the last 10,000 years.
Oh absolutely. All we know about the Carchs is their genetic albinism, their propensity for stealth tactics, their soft-spokenness, that their chapter master happens to share a title with an exiled Raven Guard commander, their emphasis on exile...
I think this is referring to raptors
Title
ā¦ sea raptors
If tuna is the chicken of the sea, it only makes sense that sharks are the raptors
I thought they were UM.
Why is brother Richmond out of his room?
Sorry man
Totally Silent lite MÄori-inspired Sharks are waaaaaaayyyyy cooler than ravens and emo haircuts. Itās just how it is sometimes
Raven Guard are not supposed to be emo thatās what the fandom made them. Only Corax was somewhat depressed which is completely understandable. The Raven Guard is meant to be inspired by native Americans. So very similar to the Carcharodon Astra who are inspired by insular tribes.
Except have you seen Kayvaan Shrikeās primaries model? My guy has more pronounced emo bangs than even I did in high school
Corvus Corax is also clearly an Edgar Allen Poe reference with his final words being allegedly āNever moreā and it being that way since at least 3rd-4th Ed.
Also it was the Dark Angels that were originally the ones that were obviously inspired by the nomadic Plains First Nations. They didnāt evolve into penitent christian monks until late 2e/Early 3e when their Ravenwing and Deathwing lore got reworked to more closely resemble its modern incarnation.
Thatās the problem with 40K there is no lore to hold on to because it is changed every Thursday. Kayvaan was just GW going with the fandom.
I mean....one has upgrades and a brand new model and an entire 30k range
The other? Well, you can't even buy the dude anymore
You could argue that space sharks get more novel love, but that's about it
This meme would have worked far more better with Black templars and the imperial fists
I adore the RG, I simp for the Raptors, I love me some Corax, I hate you for this meme, and I readily admit that it is uncomfortably accurate.
Well played, good sir.
Blahaj marines.
Femboy Charcaradons when?
Once I learn how to draw.
Lore of the Legions who got dunked at Istvaan:
They exist.
That's it, that's the lore.
Isnt there some debate on weather or not the Space Sharks are Raven Guard or Night Lord stock? Or a hybrid of both?
They did Scour the Nostramo sector after the Heresy. Though since they use the title of Shade Lord for Legion/Chapter Master it is implied they were originally Raven Guard under Arkhas Fal.
Hybrid most likely
Thatās my favorite theory as well.
Funny thing is. The Raven Guard in the image is Gherith Arendi, the Space Marine who founded the Black Guards chapter. Well known for being the scions of the ravenlord who rely on superior firepower and ripping off the White Scars Chapter insignia.
Ma~rine shark tu-tu-do-do
Because sharks are freaking cool no contest
So stepped on that I didnāt even know the sharks were their successor.
Surely, the fact that the Raven Guard don't get as much attention as some of their successors means that they're doing their job correctly?
Oh shit call the custodes
What have the Custodes to do with the Ravenguard? :3
Ravens like gold trinkets
I believe you have mistaken the Raven Guard for the Blood Ravens. An easy enough mistake.
