Remember the fad of Hot Pants and Go Go Boots?
🤣 people are so judgy!
Lol
Dear Frequentoffice132,
I find your story very interesting and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Thanks,

My parents won a trip to London in 67. They went to Carnaby Street and bought me hotpants and a matching top. I adored that outfit. It was purple and had yellow trim and yellow heart buttons. I still have it and boy it's REALLY of a period. Yes, I remember. hahaha!
Nehru Jackets. I had 3 : Hot Pink, White & Multi-Colored Vertical narrow Stripes
Didn’t have a Nehru jacket, but I had a shirt. Just like the Beatles!
But did you have Beatle boots ?
Yes. Yes I did.
You still have it? Wow!
Wow! You had/have the real deal!!
Yes, but does it still fit?
You know it doesn't! hahahaha!
Who wears short shorts?
Girls and boys in the 70s.
You obviously didn't watch enough TV in the 70s!
Oh I watched more than enough tv in the 70s.
That commercial was actually based on a song from the late 1950s!
But, everybody wore short shorts back in the 70s and even the 80s.
Hotpants and plum-smugglers.
Oh my gosh, what was the title of that original song? Now that you’ve mentioned it, it’s driving me crazy!
Unbelievable. Here I am, thinking it must have been something else, because these are the only lyrics I can remember! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you!
To tell the truth, I only knew that I heard the song long before the Nair ad.
I googled it to find out who sang the original song.
A very cute novelty song, wasn't it?
Even the 90s. Go check out any NBA video from back then. I was a runner I remember the split cut shorts. Now running shorts go down just above the knee.
By the 90s the shorts were getting longer and longer.
Might as well wear long pants practically. Lol

🎶 We wear short shorts 🎶
I wear short shorts!
We wear short shorts!
We wear short shorts!!
We wear short shorts!
My mom wore these. She also added a "fall" and push up bra.
My Mom too!! We (my two sisters and I) all got go go boots. And fish nets! Day glo fishnets with mini dresses and go go boots!
How in the heck did I convince my parents I needed Gogo Boots?!
My Aunt and Godmother bought them for us in NYC
Mine, too.
Oh, I remember having a 'fall'. Loved it. Now, I am all gray, and doubt it would look as good on me
I rocked this look with lime green fishnet stockings. I have never looked that good or felt so cool since.
I don’t care what anyone says, the 60-70’s were the height of fashion. We were so cool!
The fish nets. They were torture on your feet!
I didn't like the way they made the skin on my knees pop out lol.
My legs were so skinny that the fishnet looked almost solid on my lower legs. Not cool.
I loved my electric orange fishnets!
My high school officially forbid wearing hot pants or granny skirts to school long after any students knew what they were, lol.
Then we had short shorts for gym class
We couldn't wear hot pants but I don't remember not being able to wear granny skirts.
When I was a kid, I was trying really hard calling into a radio contest to win hot pants. My mom was laughing hysterically at me. I was an 8 year old boy and had no idea what hot pants were.
Sock it to me, baby!
In 1970 I gave my girlfriend a pair of purple leather hot pants... Her mom never let her wear them.
Nancy Sinatra.
These boots are made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do. One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.
Oh yes. Nancy’s outfit on the album cover — that was really aspirational to second-grader me.
Who wears short shorts?
We wear short shorts!
I believe it was "we"
If you dare wear short shorts...
Wasn't it followed by "Nair for short shorts" ?
Yes!!
Or is it she wears short shorts?
Do you remember the Nair commercials that used that song?
Hence the reason for my comment
Sure, but you could have just meant the song. It's a real song.
For tall ladies with long legs, indeed, like the lovely model up there. The rest of us looked chopped off at the knees.
(Clothes were fun then, just the same.)
I'm a Boomer and a Jones'r, born in 61. My mom was the Go-Go boot and hot pant wearer as I grew up. Totally remember it. Dad and Mom were the epitome of hippies, and this was Mom's regular dress.
This is for 'old' jonesers, us younger ones only saw this on TV.
Yes, and my mom refused to buy or allow me to wear anything like that. But I still warn her that one of these days I'm going to show up at her house wearing this. 💥
Fad? This is how moms started to dress when I was small. One mom had the hot pants, gogo boots, and a crocheted vest I deeply envied.
I started seeing frosted lipstick, blue eyeshadow, and dangly earrings with big hoops or balls.
I got to wear none of these things. In grade school, we wore cotton or knit dresses with little shorts underneath so we could play hard at recess. Pants of any kind were forbidden.
Cotton anklets or knee socks and Keds so I could run faster and jump higher.
I was 21 yrs old at the time. Hot pants were 'hot'. And I think I had five or six pairs. I didn't wear the knee high go go boots, though.
How many pairs of hot pants did you ladies have at the time?
I only had one, they were lilac colored with a big plastic lilac buckle. I did have a ton of mini skirts.
Fifth grade for me. Everybody had go-go boots, except me! Hot pants were a bit later, I had those but made them myself. Everybody sewed.
My Grandfather gave me go-go boots for Christmas. I loved that man!
I had a pair of denim hot pants with a wide pleather belt. I hid them in my fringe handbag so I could change at my girlfriend’s house. Wicked stepmother wouldn’t let me wear them.
I love every detail of this! Good for you!
I remember them. They were popular when I was in grade school.
Harper Valley PTA
I begged for white go go boots and my mom finally gave in but said don’t ride your bike in them, you’ll get grease on them and I won’t buy you another pair. Guess who rode their bike in the white go go boots? They did in fact get grease on them 😬
My Mom wore them.
Oh yeah. Even though I wasn't quite old enough to appreciate it the way I would now.
Stewardesses on Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA). As a young man (old child?), I loved getting special attention from them. ❤️🧡🩷
Yes but I was a child and only saw them on TV , I thought of them as costumes
Oh honey. I dropped a big old can of something on my foot on Christmas morning and broke my toe. I told no one until bedtime, because I knew they'd make me take off my Nancy Sinatra go-go boots.
Yep! I have been getting boots for my birthday since the late 60s. The gogo boots have morphed into UGGS or combat style boots.
I rocked that look! Good times.
With fondness.
I had both! I loved that look.
Remember?
At my age, some days, it's the only thing that keeps me going ...
Shirley Jones on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. It was outright shocking!
I had a Nehru jacket to wear with my mini skirt and boots the first day of middle school. Oh yeah and a string of beads. I was hip baby! So fun.
Oh yes, and I must say I looked pretty hot back then.
My aunt rocked that look and I was too young according to my mom.
I remember this every day
My older sister wore hot pants. She is 8 years older than I am. I was always impressed with her style. Still am actually.
The "uniform" for ladies-of-the-evening on the 70s and 80s.
😁
Some things you don’t forget
I was too young those, but sure wanted to wear them!
Mid seventies
I'm a Gen Jones and I definitely remember that.
Yes!!! My mom rocked the look. Had a shaggy haircut, she was beautiful
We would have been small kids at the time of this style. Now Dittos in junior high? A diff story!
Blue velvet hot pants, black boots , white turtleneck. Remember sizzler sets? Tennis type dresses with matching bikini bottoms to match. My mother HATED mine and it got torn "accidently".
I had a pair of white go go boots when I was five, I used to go go in front of our huge picture window.
Bring it back along with no bra
Do I? That’s what got me kicked out of the Boy Scouts
