I'd say, much too short... by about an hour and a half on average
Guess it depends how rested he feels after that. I usually tend to sleep 6-7.5h and feel perfectly fine. No matter how much I force myself to it my body really doesn't want to sleep over 8h
There really is too many variables to consider when it comes to sleep to have a blanket cover for all. However, most people sleeping around 6 hours are in fact sleeping too few hours but are so accustomed to it that they "feel fine" but have been in a sleep debt for such a long time that theyre actually unaware of the loss. 6hrs is largely considered a minimum and most people would benefit from more.
Studies are also beginning to show that women tend to need more sleep per night than men do by as much as up to 2 hours
