What do you guys think of AMOLED watches? Way I see it we have 2 possibilities.

  1. Garmin are just diversifying their lineup with more AMOLEDs. They'll continue to make MIP watches, with improved MIP panels.

  2. Garmin will slowly discontinue MIPs, in favor of AMOLEDs.

Fenix 7X pro user here and I'm not a fan in the slightest of AMOLEDs on watches. AMOLED looks nicer for sure but I'm just not happy with the battery life sacrifice that we have to make! I hike and run outdoors a lot, and while that makes battery life even better for MIPs (no backlight needed), it requires brightness to be dialed nearly to the maximum to provide equal visibility for AMOLED screens.

I feel that AMOLEDs are better suited to smartwatches, and I didn't get a fenix cause I wanted a smartwatch, I got it cause I wanted a tool watch. Nor could I ever settle for a watch that requires disabling the always on display to get decent battery life.
