4 month old pushing and pulling at bottle

My little one did, still somewhat does this. Love her but if I could feed her in a straight jacket that would be super helpful lol She also exclusively wanted to hold the bottle at the nipple and get her hands in her mouth with the nipple.

My 4 month old is doing the same thing. Hes my second baby. I seem to remember my first doing the same thing. Your husband is right on-- they're trying to maneuver the bottle themselves but can't quite do it yet. I have the same bottles and hold it at the base so he can move his little hands around as he pleases, but do sometimes have to move his fingers away from the nipple -- which inevitably makes him angry and once he's calmed down, he's ready to eat again.

Like most things, it's a phase (for us, anyway!)

My 4mo is doing this because she is trying to hold the bottle but hasn’t actually figured out how to do that yet.

5mo still does this. It makes me crazy. Like girl DO YOU MIND 😂

My 5mo has been doing this since 4 months. Then he gets mad at me for it! Finally one day I swaddled him in a blanket to restrain his hands while I fed him. Now I just hold his hand while I feed and that usually helps. He’s getting more coordinated with his hands so I’m hoping in the next month he will stop knocking it out

Our LO (4m today) has been doing this the last couple of weeks. She wants to grab and hold the bottle, but ends up pulling it away or pushing it around in her mouth and getting frustrated.

My almost 4 month old does this as well and it drives me crazy! Sometimes he pulls the bottle out and gets mad at me because the nipple isn’t in his mouth 🤣.

We got a 4 month old baby girl over here, she’s doing the same stuff cause she thinks she knows how the bottle works! I keep telling her “sweetie, you don’t know how to do it yet!” And she smiles and giggles then stops. Then like 5 seconds later shes back at it haha.

My son is 9 month old and has been doing that since 4 months. He likes to play with the bottle nipple and he’s teething too! It’s normal :)

Mine did this too. He wants something to handle at all times (even at 13 months lol) so when I was bottle feeding him I’d give him a toy or burp cloth to distract his hands while he ate. Worked most of the time! Down side is I never gave him a chance to figure out holding his bottle so he never did. He’s weaned now so it doesn’t matter but for months 9-12 I did wish he could hold his own bottle lol

My baby did and still does this at 5 months old. It's almost like he's trying to help, but he really isn't.

My 3.5 month old just started doing this, it was a combo of two things. He’s teething and I also needed to increase the nipple flow to a higher one and he stopped doing this as much.

They're totally just trying to exercise agency over the bottle. Put it in their mouth, take it out, put it in again. Mastery over environment. I think it's cute.

Just put my 4 month old to bed and he was doing the exact same thing !!!!

Giving my babies a toy to hold while I fed them helped sometimes during this stage!

My 5 month old has been doing this since around 4 months. Drives me absolutely nuts

How to put this nicely… he’s just being a menace lol. My baby started doing this also around 4mo. I agree with your husband. I think it’s because they discovered they have hands but can’t control them well. They’re also easily distracted at this age. If your baby hasn’t started doing it yet, the next annoying thing is when they try to eat their hands and their milk at the same time. I’ve noticed when my baby is truly very hungry he’ll eat normally. I feel like when he’s acting like a menace, he’s not that hungry. I’ll give him a little break and let him try again. I also keep moving his hands away from the bottle or give him a burp cloth to hold.

Try a faster nipple!!!!!

7 months here and it never stops 😂

My baby did this and once I started giving her Camila teething drops, and probiotics to help her poop, she has stopped doing this and eats a lot better.
