A.J. Greer signs a two-year contract with the Cats.
Roster MovesI hope so. He lives in South Florida, I’d like to think he’d be willing to stick around and be with Barky and Bob.
What does Barkov have to do with him?
Their fathers played together in the 80s and their families are somewhat close.
Barkov is also ethnically Russian, but born in Finland, for whatever that’s worth. Tarasenko would have a lil bubble of Russians with Barky, Bob, and Kulikov.
Also the Russians really seem to like South Florida. I remember a bunch of them practicing in the offseason at Pines Ice Arena.
I have feeling Vlad will be too expensive for us. Just a gut instinct.
Flames fans seem to be sad he's gone, so that's a good sign. Looks like a solid 4th liner. Guess we're just swapping Lomberg for Greer
He’s good, can really step up in a pinch shows some good offensive flashes and is a real character guy. I am sad he’s gone.
Ill swap 6'3" 210 for 5'11" 180 on the fourth line any day...especially after losing Stenlund's size on the back line. Since Lomby was fast but couldn't handle a puck (yes, I loved him too, but its true), I'm OK with the "trade"...especially at $1.25M less per season.
Also had 5 more points than Lomby with like 20 games less played. And he's a couple years younger. Gonna miss the Lomberg firecracker, but honestly his play didn't merit paying him 2m/year.
Yeah, you can't spend 6m on a 4th line. Stenlund might even get 3C duty and put up more points, and of course fans will say they saw that potential all along. The truth is he didn't do it while you had him and that's that.
I mean, at this point, do we claim allegiance to the flames for exception when it comes to one on one?
Yes! And I will be neutral when they play the Canucks. Have a soft spot for both teams.
from some comments in the /r/hockey thread, seems to be a great locker room guy on the 4th line, with more offensive and defensive skill than Lomberg, with maybe not as much edge. Seems like a solid pickup!
Lol, so basically swapped Lomberg for Greer.
Slight upgrade, good move.
Gadjovich and Greer on the 4th line is gonna make for some fun shifts
Anyone hear anything about Ekblad?
Not sure if he’s being shopped for a trade but he’s has one year left on his contract. He goes UFA after next season
We are looking to dangle a trade to get him to sign a deal to lower his cap hit is my guess.
How does that work? The new contract would adjust his average and bring down our cap hit?
Yeah we would go longer and spread the money if he accepted

Unfortunately I think we are stuck with him for another year.
Anyone know the terms $$$ ?
Meow meow.
We hoodwinked Calgary once again!
God ok. Hello Calgary.
I’m ok with this.
The Calgary connection is a real thing.
Another thing since there is no sticky are we re-signing Tarasenko? Thats been real quiet league wide. Is he actually staying?
