Regardless of whether you feel they can stick the landing or not, I hope Squenix can finish Part III on time, on budget, and without having to resort to THIS style of storytelling.
No Spoilers - MemeWithout spoiling, IIRC Disc 2 is narrated rather than "played" cause they run out of time/money
I don’t even know what it is 😂
Xenogears, the long lost brother of FVII. One of the best games ever IMO despite its shortcomings. There hasn’t been anything comparable before or since.
Agreed! Xenogears and ff7 were my favorites from that era. Disc 1 of xeno was imo a perfectly paced story, with mysteries slowly being revealed. Disc 2 was a hot mess but it didn’t in any way lessen my enjoyment of the game
It’s not just a “long lost brother” - Xenogears was the original scenario proposal for FF7 until they decided to go in a different direction. That’s why they actually share a lot of themes.
Yes I know. Unfortunately a lot of FF fans don’t seem to know Xenogears. I definitely didn’t know until after I had played several FF titles from that era.
Ah ok. Is it available anywhere on modern console? I love an old J/RPG but that’s one that I’ve never seen.
As far as I know it is only on the PSN but for PS3/Vita/PSP. So if you have any one of those your set!
Oh I do have a vita still. Maybe I’ll check it out.
Emulate that shit. Any pc can run it. And enjoy. It’s fantastic.
My PC commit suicide a few weeks ago and haven’t figured out how to fix it, so that’s currently try a no-go 😂
You can play it even on your phone. There's plenty of PS1 emulators for them nowadays. Not sure about the controls though
I have played part of it on my phone. The only thing I had issues with was platforming due to the button layout being really awkward for something that requires a bit of precision and timing. But I got around that by syncing my dualshock 4 to my phone just for the platforming bits.
Unfortunately not. The closest you can get is on PS3 but I don’t think the store is open anymore. Emulation is the easiest way to play since Square is more than happy to release merch without actually making the game available. I definitely recommend it though, Xenogears is a must play for PS1 Final Fantasy fans.
The PS3 store is still open.
Is Xenogears available from the PS3 store? :O I've never looked but that would rock!
OMG! Must go get it! Thank you thank you

I just learned a few years ago Xenogears was made by the Chrono Trigger team. You can really hear it in the music.
Yasunori Mitsuda did the music for both games and ended up sending himself to the hospital overworking himself both times as well. A lot of the team from Xenogears left Square with producer Tetsuya Takahashi to form Monolithsoft, which went on to create Xenosaga and Xenoblade.
Another fun fact: The reason why the magitek armor in the opening movie of FFVI is so different from the designs in the rest of the game is because Takahashi pitched that sequence with his designs to Sakaguchi, who knew that it was inconsistent but agreed that it looked too cool to leave out. Takahashi’s love for combining mecha with fantasy is evident in every game he’s been a part of.
Mitsuda is the rpg music GOAT in my opinion. That’s awesome about the FF6 armor - Thanks for sharing.
You know that might explain why FF7 has a random, totally irrelevant and completely missable pre rendered scene in the Shinra building. If you check the screen near the entrance in the shop room, it plays a pre rendered commercial for a model of car Shinra is selling. This scene looks as good as the rest of the pre rendered cutscenes and is completely pointless apart from adding the tiniest bit of flavor to the setting.
Maybe someone happened to make that scene and showed it to Sakaguchi, who felt it was too cool to not use in some way?
Xenogears ... the chapter V... Gosh... the franchise that was chopped off just cuz developers departed Square and the character and story rights stayed with Square... shelved and all other chapters hinted but untold forever.
Seriously I loved that game.
Can you explain why he is sitting on a chair? ( Without spoiling)
He is narrating what happens in the second half of the game. Every now and then, a still image would show up on the screen to illustrate what he’s talking about, and sometimes if we’re lucky we might get to fight a boss.
Somehow, even though the entire second half of the game is the main character sitting on a chair talking, it’s still like the second or third best RPG from the PS1 era
The game ended up extremely rushed near the end of development because of a combination of strict deadlines and the producers’ otherworldly ambitions that he couldn’t manage (Tetsuya Takahashi, who went on to produce Xenosaga and Xenoblade). The last 3rd of the has a partly “visual novel” format to save time in development. By the end of the game I didn’t mind because the story was still mind blowing and I got 80 hours out of it.
Xenogears. Game ruled
This post is about Xenogears, the best story ever written.
I'm honestly still in shock that Xenoblade 3's DLC story had the balls to reference Xenogears with its "Philadelphia-class ships" line.
why shocked? every game since xenogears has referenced xenogears in so many ways. they arent connected at all, and arent a retelling at all, but they do reuse names ideas and appearances all the time.
here is what they were originally referencing in xenogears, and look at the name of the ship.
Replace that with FF7 or Vagrant Story and I’d believe you…
You have made me feel old, sir
a very small fraction of disc 2 is narrated like this. far from the entire disc. people always over exaggerate how bad it is, and it results in people not playing it at all. they also didnt run out of money, just time. it was an old square policy that all new games get 1.5 years and thats it.
Opinions are all over the map, but I think Xenogears is one of those games that succeeded in spite of its limitations. I’m glad it got published at all in some form as opposed to being canned for being incomplete. I think everyone can agree that we’d like to see a world in which Square did not have the 1.5-year limit and Xenogears was published without the chair scenes.
What irks me is people implying that Xenogears suffered for Final Fantasy VIII’s sake. Both were subject to the same dev time limit.
8 had 0 influence on xenogears issues, was just an old fan rumor. people came up with all sorts of rumors that just never went away.
a very small fraction of disc 2 is narrated like this. far from the entire disc.
Yes, but this coupled with the fact that a lot of the open world/town exploration segments were removed and you just go from dungeon-to-dungeon in the gameplay segments makes the whole second disk feel like it’s on rails. It’s very similar to how the back half of FFXV goes on rails and feels like a rush job.
definitely on rails, but its ridiculously good story that just keeps hitting. its not like you get bored when every 20 minutes is another big reveal. then you get to the end and get all your world exploration back and lots of side content
Wasn't it that they were running out of time on FFVIII and Square drafted everyone and the kitchen sink on it? Or is it an internet legend (one I'm now party in propagating)?
Xenogears. Amazing ps1 jrpg that got pressured hard for release before they could finish the game. They resorted to a long series of narration followed by individual battles to complete the story so it's really weird going from a large adventure like a classic final fantasy to being tunneled into a couple hours of monologues and singular boss fights. This would never happen to ff7r, this post is just engagement bait.
Wtf is engagement bait?
Is that like baiting people into talking about something they share an interest in?
Yeah I don't understand this term. Isn't the point of a post to get people to talk, as in it's encouraged? Wouldn't every post ever made ergo be engagement bait?
Engagement bait refers to a poor quality posts made with the primary intention of farming reactions, whatever type they are.
Well bait implies it's in bad faith. Bots post stuff to farm karma which is definitely not the same as any other person posting to start a genuine discussion. The person you're replying to is suggesting the OP is karma farming.
Technically engagement is different from karma. An highly downvoted post has little karma but lots of engagement, for example.
I randomly had this thought and decided to share it with the community here. Am I looking for engagement? Yes. Is this bait? Up to you. If you don’t care to engage here, move along. Thanks!
The story in disc 2 is told via the main characters sitting on a chair on a black background like the image up there because the budget and time ran out. You do have playable segments such as dungeons and/or bosses at times and then it's back to the black room.
I'm not bashing it or anything. Still one of my favorite games of all time despite that major flaw. It's just that good.
It's also worth noting that more stuff seemed to happened in that second half so they must have had a shit ton more planned that just got axed.
Then the director pitched four prequel episodes but they got turned down so he left with some members of the team to found Monolith and make Xenosaga under Namco. Then it ran into similar issues right off the bat but at least Namco let them finish albeit with only three of the initially planned six games.
And then Monolith was acquired by Nintendo and they've been making the Xenoblade games since. Unfortunately, the rights to Xenogears are still with Square and those to Xenosaga are with Namco/Bandai (whatever they're calling themselves nowadays).
Ahh so Xenoblade is from the original Xenogears devs? Currently playing through Xenoblade Chronicles definitive edition. Decent game so far.
IIRC Takahashi is still involved in a producer role but I haven't followed as much after Xenosaga. Chronicles is the only one I played and I unfortunately never finished it. I do plan to get back to it eventually. It was pretty good.
Edit : Turns out I actually played Chronicles X not Chronicles.
Xenogears.
A game that might possibly be the greatest JRPG of all time even with its disc 2 budget constraints that basically narrated large portions of the story because Squaresoft made them ship before it was completely finished.
The game was originally a pitched story for Final Fantasy VII that was deemed too dark and religious for their flagship series, so they decided to make it a separate game that was known as "Project Noah."
The game is actually mentioned by Cloud in the OG FFVII after he falls in to the Lifestream. When Cloud is at the clinic and catatonic in the wheelchair, you can hear him mumble that something is coming known as "Zenogias."
This was him mumbling the title of Squaresoft's next big epic that would be titled "Xenogears."
Xenogears was also considered to be a sequel to Chrono Trigger at one point in development, and to reference this you actually meet Lucca in the opening village of the game where the game teaches you about save points.
It's probably one of the most unique JRPGs ever made, and there's never really been anything like it since. The Xenosaga and Xenoblade series (also made by Xenogears creator Takahashi) tried to carry the legacy, but they've never quite reached that level of amazing.
If you can find it, buy it. Play it.
Part 2 disc was basically rushed and the story heavily modified/warped to finish development asap. It was notorious for years as being a dramatic tonal shift and having some bizarre story elements later on. Eventually, one of the major names who worked on it acknowledged in an interview the game was essentially unfinished because higher ups forced it to release. Read up more here https://kotaku.com/the-real-story-behind-xenogears-unfinished-disc-2-1796151112
Sadly, this isn't the first game to experience this. Final Fantasy IX has an interesting read on how it suffered the same fate which is why the world is blatantly lopsided incomplete and why characters who start interesting finish without being further explored later on or the Final Fantasy XV incident which is perhaps one of the wildest situations ever to grade the gaming industry. This is especially so for FFXV knowing the sheer staggering scale of cut content already created like entire huge cities removed that can be found via out of bounds glitches, or how big the world was supposed to ultimately be, or the story which is why it feels so oddly written and has entire bizarre gaping story/character issues. For those curious about the FFXV with actual cut content to view check https://www.neogaf.com/threads/ffxvs-cut-content-volume-is-worth-bringing-up-again.1634268/ and, frankly, this is only the tiniest tip of the iceberg of an insane situation. I think what miffed me the most, aside from areas like Tennebrae being cut is seeing the quality of the city area, in particular, and then thinking back to games like GTA far less impressive environments and being aggravated.
For those curious about the FFIX I mentioned check these two resources: https://tcrf.net/Final_Fantasy_IX and https://blog.playstation.com/2021/11/09/memories-of-life-working-on-final-fantasy-ix-available-with-playstation-now/
Damn reading this makes me feel old
::sigh::
This is one of my all time favorite games despite the behind the scenes shitstorm. I adore this game. I wished I could play it.
Agreed. Despite some serious flaws with disc 2 of Xenogears, I think it has one of the best RPG stories of all time. I even preferred it to FF7’s story at the time, even if the overall game wasn’t as fun or polished as FF7. I’d adore a full modern remake of Xenogears that finishes disc 2, but I dream.
It reminds me of what happened to the orignal evangelion anime series. Something about the budget went south and the last two episodes were basically just scribbles on lined notebook paper and people talking. The ending was very weird as a result (not that the OVA was any less weird but it actually had some serious production value behind it, and sort of closed the story for good)
A modern day xenogears reboot could be legendary… just as long as they don’t stuff it with pointless minigames and fluff and spread it over 5 releases
It reminds me of what happened to the orignal evangelion anime series.
Xenogears (and FFVII) are heavily influenced by Eva. The monologues on a chair in a blank void is very obviously a reference to episodes 25 and 26 of Eva.
OG Evangelion started off weird, got awesome, then went batshit garbage. It was a rollercoaster when I first saw it.
The combat in Xenogears was so good. I'd kill for a full remake of the game.
It was good but got repetitive at times. I’d love to see a modern re-envisioning of the combo system. Some of those late-game techniques for Fei were ridiculously powerful and cool but by the time I learned them on-foot combat was basically obsolete since all opponents were gears. Gear combat could be given some more variety and maybe rebalanced to make some of the special gear moves (e.g. aerods) more useful.
Isn’t aerods completely overpowered and broken?
I don’t remember it that way — lore-wise it’s supposed to be this elite attack that most pilots require special performance-enhancing drugs to be able to control, and in the first battle where Elly uses aerods they seem super powerful, but as time goes on I feel like they become less and less useful. At a certain point I think I just stopped using them in favor of building up my gear’s attack level. However admittedly it’s been many years since my last playthrough so I could be misremembering.
With the ether doubler I believe it’s completely overpowered.
7 isnt even polished, its just about as unfinished as xenogears in fact. they just hid the flaws better because they didnt develop it from the start to the ending the way the xenogears team was working. they worked on various parts of the game at the same time, so they they ran out of time for 7, it didnt have any sections that were not even started yet. they both were subject to the 1.5 year development time limit. if you want another easy to see example of square games not getting enough time, look at saga frontier. it was a stupid square policy that all games got 1.5 years maximum development time, regardless of the scope of the game.
The translation of 7 is rough and confusing at times but it never completely devolves into wall-of-text exposition like Xenogears does near the end. I think the translation of Xenogears is more solid overall, though, which is impressive considering the size of the script. FF7 is more visually polished as well, and IMO is paced better (some parts of Xenogears really drag, like the Nortune prison section and some of the boring dungeons with zillions of random battles). I think the “love story through the ages” concept in Xenogears is really special though, and there’s so much to love about the world and lore — probably my favorite example of “ancient technological civilization begets more primitive society” ever, maybe tied with Horizon Zero Dawn.
its incomplete in other ways, like glitches and plot holes and rushed sections of the story. its just less in your face than what happened to xenogears. this guy are sick, xeno gias, etc in the translation. spirit does nothing. w item glitch. lots of story beats make 0 sense unless you read out of game added lore or the spin offs, sequels, movie, etc. as for the being more visually polished.... im going to have to big disagree there. the environments in xenogears look amazing, the sprite work is awesome especially the deathblow animations, the cgi cutscenes are worlds better quality, and the anime cutscenes for scenes with humans in them come across way better than the claymation like motion of the characters in FF7 scenes. they are stiff as fuk looking. some of the spell animations are better but thats about all i would give to FF7 compared to Xenogears visually.
I think you’re the first person I’ve ever met who thinks Xenogears looks more polished than FF7 visually, but fair enough. To me they’re not even in the same league, as much as I adore some aspects of Xenogears’s presentation, and think some environmental details (like Sophia’s portrait in Nisan) are breathtaking. From blocky field sprites to z-buffering and texture warping issues that were much less of a problem in FF7 due to the art style, the in-game graphics are just full of jank. It was asking a lot of the PS1 hardware to render such large and detailed environments in 3D, and it’s fairly impressive what they pulled off, but aesthetically I greatly prefer the shaded polygons and pre-rendered backdrops of FF7 as they bypassed many of the problems of early 3D graphics for cinematic storytelling. The anime cutscenes and character portraits of Xenogears are excellent though, despite some typical awkwardness with the English dub.
blocky field sprites? are you thinking of FF7? they are practically minecraft characters lol.
FF7 had blocky polygonal models in the field, not blocky sprites. :-) Different set of problems. I personally find the shaded polygons with dumbbell hands less sloppy looking than pixelated sprites with framey animations that keep snapping to different perspectives as the camera is moved.
Eh, they both have their fair share of jank. I think everyone can admit that regardless of preferring one over the other. Developing games of that magnitude on the hardware available at the time while laboring under time constraints was truly a new frontier.
Definitely!
People really just come on reddit and make shit up. Wild
Ehy can't you play it?
I think they mean play through the parts of the game that Fei is just describing while sitting in a chair.
Yeah I can’t. I don’t have the game or a ps1/psp
Do you have a laptop or computer?
Yeah I have a laptop. What you’re saying it’s available?
Vimm.net.
I think the FF7 team has a free pass when it comes to development time and cost. Or at least they had for Part 1 and 2. If Part 3 delivers, this will be an ever green trilogy, a long term money cow.
Square would be stupid to make any significant changes with the third part.
I see it as them bolstering their reputation as a studio that pushes themselves as a studio that always puts their best on the table, at least for RPGs. FF7 shows that the team prioritizes fun, story, graphics, artstyle, and gameplay. If one of their titles looks like it's coming up short in one area ( Octopath Traveller isn't pushing graphics much, for example) audiences will still believe that the gameplay and story will be a blast.
FF7 isn't just selling, FF7 it's selling everything with square's logo on it
you nailed it
Never thought I'd see Xenogears again
Fun fact: the Xenoblade 3 DLC from last year blew everyone's minds because it was Takahashi essentially saying "you bitches thought Xenogears was gone, huh? Wrong"
There was a reference in Saints row and hi fi rush
the r/xenogears community is very active
This is the remake I REALLY want. Don’t get me wrong, the FF7 remake cycle has indeed been masterful, but a Xenogears remake could fix and expand on a story that was basically incomplete.
I think there’s an opportunity and a potential market. Sadly, it would be such a huge risk it’ll never happen. Still, one can dream.
Yeah. Squeenix and the industry at large is showing a big steer away from risks at this time. That will probably be the case for a good while yet. If there is a Remake from Square coming in the future, it will either be Chrono Trigger, or another FF title like IX or VI etc
IX has been rumored to be in the remake pipeline.
VIII is actually my favorite game, but its systems are incredibly unintuitive and like many of the other games we’re discussing here, the plot becomes a mess at times because they did not have the time to implement or expand upon certain story beats. I think at one time a 16-disc epic was being considered? Plenty of cut content out there to look at as well. https://tcrf.net/Final_Fantasy_VIII
I think it would be interesting for them to take a crack at remaking VIII on a much smaller scale than the VII trilogy. Rework the junction system, perhaps make specific GFs feel more unique by imbuing the character equipping them with their traits and abilities? Almost like Persona, in a way. Well, it’s on my mind as P3 Reload is paused as I type this out. And it’s not like the remaster of the original VIII would disappear from digital storefronts. OG VII’s remaster certainly hasn’t.
The closest you'll probably get to it at this point is Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
The problem with a Xenogears remake would be that it wouldn’t have wide market appeal because most of us who yearn for a remake are a smaller cohort of older gamers. Most younger gamers have never heard of Xenogears. FF7 was so popular that it was revered and played decades after its release.
That said, Xenogears was probably my second or third favorite RPG in the PS1 era. I’d buy a remake in a second. I enjoyed the Xenosaga and Xenoblade games, but not nearly as much as Xenogears.
There’s simply not budget or room in the market for more than a couple AAA JRPGs per year, so I don’t see a Xenogears remake ever given the treatment it deserves. Maybe in 10 years if AI gets sophisticated enough to drastically lower gaming development costs…
Nah that was fire what do you mean
Sit in the plot chair NOW
If you’re not expecting to see Cloud sat in a chair for part 3 I have some bad news for you…
Yeah but cloud has some sick wheels
I’d laugh my ass off if they somehow find a way to reference this by shining a spotlight on Cloud against a starry background while he’s in the wheelchair. Hell, even Cloud muttering “Xeno…gears” (or is that “Zeno gias?”) in this day and age would be unexpected, though Squenix does still retain the rights.
Oh they'll definitely do the "Xeno...gears".
The music in that game is so good.
I never played through the game on my own, but I’ve listened to the OST an uncountable number of times.
I think square enix has chrono trigger remake in their back pocket to help keep the money moving.. though nobuo being unofficially retired might hurt it
He contributed to the soundtrack but Mitsuda was primarily responsible. I think Uematsu was brought in because it was Mitsuda’s first large-scale composing project and he fell ill from overwork?
There's so many worthy successors to Uematsu that this is barely even an issue. Even outside of the 7 Remake group, Soken and Shimamura are juggernauts in their own right by now.
Yasunori Mitsuda wrote the best songs on the CT soundtrack, including the main theme, and he’s very much still working. Uematsu was called in to finish the soundtrack after Mitsuda worked too hard and got sick, which is a real shame because a lot of folks mis-credit the whole soundtrack to Uematsu. If they remake Chrono Trigger, it would be so poetic if Mitsuda could finish what he started.
Mitsuda also did Xenogears, so it’s extra topical for this post! 😁
From the income of Remake and Rebirth, they aren't in a dangerous position to not have time/budget, should be fine
Lmao it 99% won't. Part of the reason Hamaguchi is impressing people within SE so much is his ability to help direct a project that comes on time & within budget and not running into dev hell. You would have no idea like the last 20 years of SE happened based on VIIR & Rebirth.
Also holy shit SE just pop Xenogears on the PSN for PS4/5 or Switch etc and have built in QoL for speed up for the molasses text boxes. Also a fully orchestral score with Mitsuda in charge.
not much to ask >_>
It's such a jarring change in the closing acts of xenogears. You spend the first 3/4 of the game slowly and meticulously working your way through towns and developing the characters, world, and lore. Then, all a sudden, it's cutscenes, boss fight, cut scene, cutscene, one final dungeon, boss fights, cutscene, closing cutscene.
Still, despite that, one of the best games ever! Right up there with chrono trigger
How amazing would it be if they had to release part 3 with PS1 FF7 graphics to cut costs. 😂
New costume for part 3: ps1/fort condor skin. If FFXV can let us use the mobile game style, why can't ff7r3?
The rejected ff7 to be, cause of the nature mature story of it.. till this day this jrpg story is one of the best and fav of all time for me its mind blowing ahead of its time
Plot Chair my beloved
My man Grahf got done dirty by disc 2.
Damn I loved Xenogears. I'd love a remake of this :)
If they have to screw up I how they go way over budget and take an extra 2 years to complete everything.
Ff7 Resonance: Now on 4 disc's
Even with the rushed disc 2, I loved Xenogears. Even back in the day it took some convincing from a friend to make me play it as I used to think that this system where the world is 3D but characters are sprites are a bit ugly (I still don’t love it to this day).
But once I started playing and the religion allegories started to kick in, I couldn’t stop. Disc 2 is rushed but still presents something that high level makes sense and for me was miles ahead of any other RPG I had played, including FF.
I also played all Xenosagas to get that taste. Unfortunately Xenoblade has to water down the allegories a bit much for it to be Nintendo friendly, so I never got into it as much.
xenogears is still a masterpiece regardless
The next game is gonna be a crudely drawn slide show of everything that happens. It’ll only have QTEs as its gameplay
Unfortunately the trailer for ever crisis just dropped.
They been side shoveling the entire time already
Don’t you fucking put this curse out into the wild like that
😂😂😂😂😂
I hope Square has a separate department working on finishing disc 2 of this masterpiece for a future remaster
Dude, they said they interrupted lots of games production to focus on their AAA titles. Safe to say part 3 is an AAA title after all, so no worries.
I think part 3 will have the quickest turnaround of the trilogy. They have a ton of assets already that can be reused, the story is written and they've started voice acting already. If we're lucky we'll have it in about 2-3 years.
Some fans still think it got cut if only one monster didn't show up.
You know, if there's ONE squaresoft game that is a good candiate for a Remake is Xenogears simply because of this Disc 2 fiasco.
I don't even think they need to drastically alter the game. Star Ocean remaster last year is the perfect example that Xenogears could follow.
Not only they'd have the chance to properly do a good Disc 2, but also enhance some of the game systems like Star Ocean did (e.g. revamping useless characters like Rico or Chu Chu or making the magic system more insteresting).
Xenogears disc 1 is arguably one of the best RPG’s ever.
Disc 2 has a bunch of problems, unfortunately and drags the game as a whole down.
Isn’t that just cloud with mako poisoning?
They’re already been hard at work for part 3 for a while. A lot of the world is done cuz of rebirth so I have faith!
Xenogears disc 2 is the best disc of the game, and it is the best story in gaming. FF7R trilogy wishes it could write as well as the Xenogears dev team did.
Considering how bad part 2 ending was I have lost major interest
Man xenogears was so good until the final disk where it felt like 90% of my time was watching exposition...
more like 20%
Maybe.. but I remember spending hours just reading back in the day.
I would worry.
Seeing as square enix is not doing as well fnñinancially and Rebirth not having as good as sales as expected, I think it’s very likely that part 3 has a much smaller scale than rebirth
I hope the pc ports do well. That is, if either it or even ff16 ever come to pc....part 3 coming in 2028 also doesn't bode well cause I'm not even sure ps5 will last that long
Ps5 will last until 2028, yeah Ps6 might be out by then.
They can still do a cross-gen release with a ps5 version and a beefed up Ps6 version.
Yeah it'll probably be a breath of the wild situation where it came to wii u just cause they promised it, I just have that 1% fear that'll it'll get delayed or cancelled or something
Nobody's buying a PS6 given that this console generation despite a few great games is absolutely horrendous and Sony is dumb for going down that road at this point.
Well i have been content with this generation so i am getting a ps6 :)
Wait until you see the price. And considering development times at this point there won't be any true PS6 games without a primary PS5 version until 2030 or so and maybe longer. I'm not saying there aren't good games. There obviously are. But even top studios are spending so much time and money that they only make 1-2 games per generation and are losing their shirts financially.
Yeah it sucks that games take way longer to make these days, but i don't see any reason not to buy one just because of that, especially for me, i am platinum hunter and have been for many years, so i have close to infinite content.
It's not like PC/xbox developers are making games faster, only Nintendo does smaller games faster and i do own a Switch for their first party exclusives for that reason.
But Playstation is my main way to play because of the trophy system, I even buy ps3/vita/ps4 games for the trophies.
So i will buy the PS6 so i can continue experiencing Sony's exclusive games and collect trophies in the future.
Ah trophy hunting makes sense. I'm not a trophy hunter (my only platinum is Persona 5 Royal which is the easiest platinum out there with a platnium claimed percentage near 50%). Most likely I'll get a PS6 but years into the console life unless everything I really want to play has moved to PC by then. Even for the PS5, I know FFXVI and Rebirth are eventually going to release on PC. I would have waited except I'm also a college football junkie and that franchise returns as a console exclusive this year after 11 years away. I simply grabbed a PS5 a bit early for thde FFs knowing the college football game was coming.
Xenogears managed to be epic with sitting on a chair and telling the story. And far better than the FF7 Remake trilogy.
I agree, but also, disc 2 of Xenogears is legit the best part of the game. Cuz you don't have to play it anymore. 😂
Care to enlighten those of us that are unenlightened
