How much would you guys love to have this? It's really cool to use.
PVEThe HK G3 ASAP, variable zoom should be added in the next big patch/wipe.
It's such a huge upgrade to every variable zoom scope, it's insane. The high zoom ones are actually usable now.
It’s actually a nerf to the existing meta scopes. Instead of clicking to the highest zoom, you’ll now need to take seconds of valuable time (possibly while already coming under fire) to adjust you zoom level.
They already give us keybinds for just about everything. It's fairly likely they'll give a keybind for switching between min/max zoom. Most scopes can be switched min/max nearly instantly IRL, after all.
You still keep the instant zoom keybinds, but you can smooth zoom too. Of course I dunno how it'll be in live, can only speak for this mod.
Yeah, but you will be able to use them as 2x, 3x, or 4x settings which is way more versatile!
The vudu, razor and similar 1-8x like it are good because they already cover all ranges. Hipfire close, 1x (which is closer to 1.5x depending on the specific scope ) for close / mid, click in for far.
The only thing I see slide variants to be useful for would be better checking gear on a body, or making the currently unusable 24x style scopes actually have some utility.
Hopefully it actually shows up soon.

You'll notice that the reticle changes as the scope zoom changes. This is because that scope is "first focal plane" and the reticle zooms along with the image, meaning that the graduations on the reticle itself are accurate at all zoom levels across the scope's range. At the beginning, it looks like the scope may be at 2-3x rather than at 1x for some reason, making the reticle comically large. It would/should not look like that at 1x.

The reticle can start off being way too big, which is the case here.

For the very simple reason that modders aren't looking to get paid for it and won't accept job offers.
And those that do, stop being modders. Not that uncommon for a modder to get hired.

Also, how do you quantify how much they should be paid, what their billable hours were, the value of the work produced. If multiple people worked on a mod, some still working, others retired or stepped down, how do you divide the pay amongst them? Billable hours factor in again?
Etc. etc.
It works well going into it where there is a contractual plan laid out that shows consistent pay structure and/or how billable hours will work before mods are even made, but in retrospect it's just way more difficult.

This assumes they still work on the mod and will in effect, want to into the foreseeable future.
There is plenty of examples when the modder got hired because their mods very pretty good and while the mods died out a lot of their features got baled into the game making it better for everyone.
Best example is Paradox GSGs where they often hire modders as their devs and sibsequentlynthey implement their mods into the game mling those hames really good. Another one would be the Factorio devs. A bunch of them are former factorio modders. Implemented a ton of qol from their mods into base game. Also they are making a dlc based on one big mod.
If I could work remote and in English I'd accept a job offer by BSG, or simply just commission-based

Because then modder stop being modders, and have to do and make what the company tells them to rather than what they want.
Modders are great at working on things that they want in a game. Can they bring that passion to other subjects? Are they always going to pull off studio-level work? How close do they live to the company of the game they mod for? How well do they integrate into a team environment? Can they work on multiple things at once effectively? How good are they at implementing original features/content instead of working from a base?
Those that are good at these things often do become employed, but being able to laser focus on one random aspect of a game over a few months and improve it is not the same as working within a professional context.
you say any of this as if there isn't a long history of modders getting hired, or even entire mod teams. Infinity ward started off as a group of modders.

Instead of it being linear you can set the multiples. So I set it to 1x and then use the most useful ranges of 2-3x most of the time but then it’s also not that hard to keep clicking or use the full magnification toggle.
A little, though only at first. You get used to variable zoom pretty quick and I have it bound to some extra keys on the side of my mouse. Like the other replier said, you can set it to stepped zoom too.
Once you do get used to it... man this is nice. No longer have to choose between too little or too much zoom.
You missed the part where you get one tapped... Or is that just when I get to the roof?
Tarkov moment right there lol, though bots don't pre-aim for the roof. There's another mod I'm using that makes them spotting you a little more than just getting line of sight.
The G3? A lot.
Variable zoom is coming Soon™, but I'm worried they're not going to improve reticles, FoV or scope shadow issues in the process.

They should add this along with balancing the scopes more, and make them more akin to their real life counterparts. The zoom levels are completely jank in this game
I'm really surprised that they still have not changed "variable zoom" to be actually variable and not just a toggle from min to max.
How did you set it up with the fov mod? I cant get the variable scope to work, only the fov zoom
Open the BepInEx menu with F12, you need to bind keys for smooth zoom increase/decrease. Check if the multipliers for smooth zoom speed are actually set up and not just zeros too.
What key are you using, the scroll wheel doesnt seem to be working for me

We got a REAL detective here guys! What tipped you off, was it the snow, the G3, the complete lack of fog, or the variable zoom scope in a game that is playable by someone that isn't Nikita?
