Context; Paper bags in restaurants, earlier were 15 cents Happy canada day guys :)
We have them at my work, and I’m surprised that more places don’t
They have them at Safeway but with no handles and I think they are .25¢.
They do but they’re really thin and you can only really hold one at a time. Better than other grocery stores through
I just wish I could hand my reusable bag to the cashier at the drive thru and say hey, don’t hand me a tray - put it in this. (Or can I!?)
Or have the ability to exchange bags. I've always thought that it would be good if there's a way for us to recycle bags similar to dropping bottles off to the bottle depots.
If you order on the apps it doesn’t matter, they charge you by default so the restaurant immediately gets free profit.
And $2 minimum for other reusable bags
I mean, if it’s a charge, common sense would be to not assume someone wants a bag, the person who wants it will ask for it
Also, obligatory Voltaire: common sense is not so common
Someone bashed out at me after i gave their 43 dollars order with bag without asking. Common sense is no more appreciated sadly.
We really need to get over this and become more aware of how wasteful we are as a species and how it harms the planet we live on.
Paper straws are just as bad for humans AND worse for the environment with the PFAs in them. I don’t really think that is a silly thing to fuss about.

Sounds like the best thing to do is avoid using straws altogther whenever possible, then.
I can't remember the last time I used a straw. People know we got lips, right?
Interesting. So close yet so far apart some of us are.
I'd be a bigger fan of this if the money went to the city to fund public services instead of already wealthy corporations.
It’s a very small amount of money. The cost for the city to collect and keep track of the funds would be more than they collect.
Who's still buying bags?
This was one of the easiest inconveniences ever to solve and the reduced bag waste is awesome.
i’m on the same page. just bring your bags with you! if you tend to forget, leave some bags in your trunk
Yup. I keep some in the car. And discovered that the majority of time a bag was never needed. It was just customary and wasteful.
i work in a retail clothing store and every single person tells me the same thing: "haha lol forgot my bags in the car! can i have a reusable shopping bag for my 3 items :)" and they show up next week and say the same thing.
like i am so sick of hearing it. just carry your shit for 5 minutes
Yesterday I forgot the bag in the car, instead I carried 8 cans of catfood, a bag of dog treats, and 2 bags of crisps, fuck taking a bag!
I’ve notice so many less plastic grocery bags drifting around the streets since these fees started. Good to see!
Pretty sure that's because the feds banned them.
Of what
In restraurants. Earlier it was 15 cents
This will be remembered as another nail in the coffin for city council. Waste and tax.... hope they have fun while they have jobs.
Creating less waste is waste? lol
Paying more tax is awesome. Tax me harder I like it! LoL
User name kind of doesn't check out 😜
no problem! i have the money to buy fast food cuz i just charge more for a service call
They should make them a dollar
resuable ones are now 2$ minimum
Oohhh! A whole quarter! Or bring your own bag! Both choices are just awful!
I wish places had the paper grocery bags with handles like they have in the US. They’re sturdy and I wouldn’t actually mind paying for one if it was good
