I'm out of town but I'm saying this wild images of the storm hitting in Cypress
Copperfield Wild, Lots of limbs down Got my neighbors tree over the fence but minimal damage, missed the house thankfully
Pour one out for my smoker getting crushed by it though
Oh and no power, big surprise
RIP smoker.
I think power is going to be out for a long while. The main transmission lines are down. Check click2houston but there is major damage. 290 was shutdown for awhile due to lines falling on the hwy. 99 and west road has similar issues.
CFISD just announced it will be closed tomorrow.
HISD said all campuses would be closed Friday, May 17, 2024, and would reopen Monday, May 20, 2024.
Cy-Fair ISD also said its campuses would be closed Friday, May 17, 2024, and would reopen Monday, May 20, 2024. District officials said the day would not need to be made up later in the year due to the inclement weather minutes built into the CFISD school calendar.
Tomball Isd will be closing all facilities as well
A friend lives in Bridgeland, off Tuckerton. Quite a few houses destroyed on her street. Tornado touched down.
There so many large trees uprooted down tuckerton between fry and 99. Either completely uprooted or slanted at a noticeable angle.
What? Are you sure about that? I’m in BL off Tuckerton and that’s not what I saw. Lots off trees and backyard shit everywhere but I definitely did not see any homes demolished
Bridgeland as well. Looks like a few houses hit by the tornado on the other side of 99 I think.
I think I saw on twitter maybe what they were referring to tornado Bridgeland
Longhorn cavern section. Multiple homes destroyed
Yep. Off Summer Camp.
Copperfield here 🙋🏽♂️ no power lots of broken trees the cvs off huffmeister and hwy 6 got power 😭 but not me
Intense storm. Trampolines over fences, trees town, power towers down.
My neighbors trampoline was all over the neighborhood
99&west here. No damage to the house. Power out. Street signs all ripped up. Seen multiple fences down. Saw 3 overturned 18 wheelers on the way home. Driving home it also looked like the only area with power was the 290&skinner/barkercypress areas.
Really sad after reading some of the comments here about other neighborhoods close by. Hope everyone’s ok.
Oh and something large was on fire in one of the neighborhood’s behind the CFISD Visual Performing Arts Center 😞
I’m by Bucees. No power. I have not received an update on when power will be back for 77429. At this point; the power will come back on when it does. In the meantime time; use this time to spend with your spouse. Even if that means sitting in the driveway having a few drinks while your phone charges in the car.
Good over here no damage just lost power for the weekend
Does anyone know any place with gas stations that have power and gas
A couple hours I go I saw these:
Towne lake kroger: 9703 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 77433
Tuckerton/Queenston
16902 Tuckerton Rd, Houston, TX 77095
Shell stonegate: 11750 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 77433
Walmart barker cypress: 11425 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 77433
Not sure if they're still working
If you go out to Katy life is basically normal
That was freaking wild. Lost part of the fence, roof, and all the patio furniture.
Damn, my house is in towne lake but I haven't been able to get there yet :S Hope everything sorts out for you
Copper Village here. There's a lot of trees and things down. Those giant power lines close to Tuckerton went down so your power situation might be iffy.
Copper lakes here. No power, a bunch of trees down, part of our fence down too. Thankfully, we are ok.
NW Bridgeland here. Fence is toast and it got really wild. Hearing that some wrought iron fences nearby got ripped up. No power here. Given that huge transmission line is down and I heard at least a few huge bangs from electrical infrastructure nearby so I'd expect various transformers are busted.
I watched them go down. Was wild. My backyard faces the Bridge Creek side and can see FedEx and everything over that way. When I saw all the electric explosions I knew it was time to head inside
Got a family friend in bridgeland, house destroyed and it fell on top of their truck
I'm in Cypress doing okay just no power for the past 3 hours or so
Sorry to hear that man
Drove from Blackhorse to Katy looking for ice, and it was pitch black. Lots of downed trees and traffic lights out. Lost 2 trees, but no damage to house.
Buc-ee's in Waller is up and running on generators. They had ice earlier tonight.
Seems like power is still out north of 290/Rosehill rd. Any idea how much longer without power? Close to 7 hrs now and no power
I heard until Sunday or Monday
Probably going to be days, major power Infrastructure was destroyed
Power kicked back on twice in the middle of the night and turned off about 30 seconds later. Could they be close to restoring? I guess now that there is light out it may be easier to assess damage
I kept hearing the power surging around 3am so we turned off the breaker to avoid any electrical damage, but power still not restored. They are bringing in 1500 workers from out of town to help with grid repairs.
Yikes
Saracen Park here: We sustained some minor damage—lost a fence, some trees—but not all my neighbors were as lucky. Still have no power. Saw 4 trucks blown over on 99 South between the 290 junction and Morton Ranch road. Fires billowing smoke in cyfair. 🤷🏾♂️
The winds were 120+ in some areas with threats of tornados. It was basically a brief hurricane on land.
All good in my neighborhood.power restored about an hour ago. Cypress point , where my kids are is still without power...
I'm without power still and the pump generator died so we are out of water now (lakes of rosehill)
Anybody from towne lake around here?
Do you know if it was in the new section? My Mother is there and she isn’t answering her phone. I’m out of town.
It’s okay I appreciate that, thank you! One of my calls randomly went through and I just got off the phone 🙏 There was only some wind damage that she could see in her area so far and no power. A family friend who lives nearby has also apparently been around to check in, they just haven’t been able to call or send messages out till now. This mildly panicked daughter is relieved!
Thanks for letting me know, so sad to hear
Do you know anything about Lakeshore? Been trying to reach out to friends over there with no luck
Lots of fence damage near greenhouse and west.
Langham Creek area got power this morning finally. what a fucking mess
I wish anything from center point fucking worked. Would love any sort of eta on power. Their site doesn't load anything on the map for more and the phone number is a busy signal. I know a lot of people don't have power but I would love to know when they hope to restore it.
I wish people would be patient. Lots of people about to work stupid hours to get everyone up and running again.
Here are the main lines down in Cypress:
Stephen Goin on X: "STORM DAMAGE: Power lines down in Cypress after severe storms came through the area Thursday afternoon. Residents in a nearby subdivision tell me their power is out after they saw sparks flying from these transmission towers during the storm. @KHOU https://t.co/YohahSESmx" / X (twitter.com)
I think its going to be a few days before power is fully restored.
