Everything that codes 5% on Chase Ink Business CashDiscussion / Conversation

I've been searching previous post so I can try to create a detailed list of al the streaming service or any other service that earns 5% aside the from the usual Internet, Phone, Cable and Office Supply company. The List will be in my profile's pinned comment (will update it regularly base on everything I learn). Many streaming service count as cable. Even services like zoom codes and gets 5% (I assume as phone service.) What are some services you use that I don't have listed here that are coding as 5%? Is anything in my list not coding for you, or no longer coding, let me know so I can remove it. Some of these were tested by me but most are from previous post i've looked up. Are there any other unique find that code as 5%, example would be a specific store coding as office supply store that many are not aware of. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I didn't include the usual phone, cable and internet companies, or usual office supplies stores such as staples or office max. Im trying to create a list for the less known advertise services for the card

Why don’t more people take advantage of the Chase Ink business cards?Discussion / Conversation

There several threads about current setups and dormant cards on here. With SUBs being the biggest driver of point accumulation, why aren’t more people willing to apply for the Chase Ink cards? Is there some downside I’m not seeing?

A sneaky way that Chase Reserve travel points aren't going as farDiscussion / Conversation

This is for my Chase Reserve people. I've noticed lately that their portal doesn't show the same flights as I can find online. And today, I found the same exact flight for $234 on their portal, that was $149 on American Airline's website. I called the travel center and they wouldn't honor the lower price, event though it's the exact same flight. Which means, the real dollar value of my points is slashed significantly. Is anyone else experiencing this? Do other credit card companies do this? It's making me think about jumping ship, but as far as I know, most people are still happy with their reserve cards for travel. Bummer!

What is your current setup?Discussion / Conversation

I recently got the Sapphire Preferred early May to add to my setup. Here is what I'm running with.

-Venture X = Catch all card -Sapphire Preferred = Dine in -Savor One = Grocery & Entertainment -Citi Custom Cash = Gas -Amazon Prime = Amazon shopping

I was using my Savor One as my dine in card but since I got the CSP. I figured it's better for me to use the CSP instead just so I can get more Chase points even though both cards are 3x for dine in.

My next card I would like to get is the Chase Freedom Flex but I can't get that till Feb 2025 due to the 5/24.

Best way to build credit score at 18?Discussion / Conversation

So I got my first credit card a couple months ago, and have been using it to get gas to fill my car. So about $45 each time. As soon as the transaction approves, I pay it off in full each time. My credit limit is currently 300 and the APR is 30%,

My current credit score is 675, how long can I expect for it to go up if I continue paying it on full, every time? Will my credit limit eventually go up?

Just looking for advice

1 Reason Stopped Contemplating AMEX -> ChaseDiscussion / Conversation

I have the Platinum, Gold, and BBP. As well as Marriott Bevy purely for hotels. I travel 180 days of the year, all over the world. Apple Card as my non Amex backup.

Was contemplating switching away from Amex to Chase as I feel it seems redeeming UR points for a consistent, good value is more straightforward. No experience of course, that’s just how I felt.

However, in researching one thing I completely stopped looking down this track, and I’m happy with my American Express set up.

In order to earn the airline multipliers with the Chase sapphire reserve, you have to book through their portal. That means that every flight becomes a third-party booking.

With how much I travel, I know for a fact it’s been far better to be able to deal with the airlines directly rather than a third-party. I end up having a lot of changes.

However, the last time I used a third-party was many years ago, and it was a bad experience. Maybe that’s better now?

Fidelity Visa vs. SoFi MastercardDiscussion / Conversation

Looking to round out my current setup with a catch-all 2% back card on all "other" purchases. I'm down to either the Fidelity Visa or the SoFi Mastercard, as these are the only two cards with no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, and the ability to readily invest your cash back.

As life gets busier, I've started to like the idea of shifting to a 1-2 card set up to capture my purchases (currently have the USBAR, which I love). Investing my cash back is something I've recently become interested in as way to see even greater returns. Wanted to ask those that have either card of their experience with it, how they use the card (as a catch all or a single card set up), and their investing experience with Fidelity and SoFi.

Best cashback 2% card, no AF, no FTF...Sofi vs WF vs Citi Double?Card Recommendation Request (Template Used)
  • Current cards:
    • Amex BCP (May 2006)
  • FICO Score: 835
  • Average monthly spend and categories:
    • groceries: 1600/month mainly from Target (have target debit), Walmart, Aldi, Meijer
    • Amazon purchases frequently
    • other big monthly expenses...utilities (especially electric due to home EV charging)
  • What's the purpose of your next card? Because of where I shop, I'm only getting 1% cash back with the Amex BCP
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Sofi 2%, WF active cash, Citi double cash
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? General
Do credit card companies buy all their points from hotels and airlines?Discussion / Conversation

I’m so curious on this subject. So I know credit card companies purchase points from hotels and airline loyalty programs for the points they offer on co-branded CC’s, but are they doing this for every single point they give out across every CC?

As an example, I spend $100 on Travel on my CSR and earn 300 points, do the bank just create those points? Or are they getting purchased from a airline or hotel as well?

If so, why don’t banks just create their own points the same way hotels and airlines do?

Considering the banks are also paying to merchants when we redeem them in portal + paying airlines/hotels when we transfer them, this seems crazy to me if they are paying to issue and also to redeem/transfer, even if they’re making substantial revenue from IF/Interest.

If anyone can lay out for me how these deals work (both on buying points and also redeeming/transferring them) that would be amazing.

Help me understand Cashback vs Miles and recommend me a card Discussion / Conversation

I have a few cards I cycle for the type of purchase I'm making. If the store has Apple Pay, I pay with my Apple Card and get 3% cashback.

If it's online and accepts PayPal, I pay with my PayPal Mastercard and get 3%.

For gas and dining, I have a Capital One card that gives 3%.

Almost every single purchase I make with my cards gets 3% cashback. I spend about $2K a month and get $60 in cashback. I know it isn't a lot, but it's free money.

Every year, I travel abroad and spend about $2K on plane tickets and another $1K on hotels and such.

I'm trying to find a credit card that has no annual fee and makes sense to earn miles instead of cashback.

I've been running numbers, and those Chase and Amex cards are just too expensive to own. Some people like having access to lounges and such, but I don't really care.

Discover Travel card gives $180 if you spend $12K a year, which is like 1.5% cashback.

It sounds like those miles and points are a scam if you can get 2-3% cashback for your every purchase. PayPal credit card gives 3% for PayPal purchases and 2% for everything else.

Please tell me I'm missing something and there are good credit cards for travel points because I can't find any.

Anyone think that PayPal will report to bureaus?Discussion / Conversation

I've had perfect credit for 6 years now, never missed a payment or anything. Score is currently 815. Well April 19th something got charged to my PayPal MasterCard and I completely didn't realize it cause I hadn't used that card in a few years. Well I realized yesterday and paid it completely off. It was only 15 dollars. But is there a chance they'll report that. It would suck to mess up my credit over 15 bucks.

List of all “add to card” offers?Help Needed / Question

Is there an aggregator that lists all the “add to card” offers across different credit cards?

Avoiding credit inquiries Discussion / Conversation

I'm looking to avoid inquiries and I know 2 things

1) Amex only does a hard pull for your first card 2) Once your business has a credit score you don't need to personally guarantee it

Does this mean that I could get an Amex business card, and wait a while so my business gets a decent credit score and get as many cards as I want with no effect on my personal inquiries?

Honeymooning in Punta Cana, opening a credit card??Help Needed / Question

My fiance and I are looking to honeymoon in Punta Cana and are interested in opening a travel credit card to get the points. We are thinking we book the stay with the credit card and use the points to offset flight costs.
We have looked into Chase Saphire card but don't really care for the airlines they are associated with. Any suggestions?

Bilt Mastercard Approval Odds as current nightmare WF Customer?Help Needed / Question

Bilt Mastercard Approval Odds?

Hi all, I am interested in applying for the Bilt Mastercard after recently moving out of my parents house and into an apartment at 1,300/mo. 0% APR deferred interest into balance transferHelp Needed / Question

Got a capital one quicksilver and it's 0% apr for 15 month. I'm planning to use it for my honeymoon and charge quite a bit. I will obviously try to pay it off before the promotional period expires, but assuming I can't, would I be able to balance transfer the remaining balance to another card to "pay it off" and avoid the back interest?

The card is deferred interest.

Do I Need a New Credit Card?Card Recommendation Request (Template Used)

I've been considering applying for a new credit card and have been lurking on this sub here and there. Wanted to fill out this template and hear from the community.

  • FICO Score: 786
  • Oldest account age: 6 years, 9 months
  • Chase 5/24 status: n/a
  • Income: $60,000/yr
  • Average monthly spend and categories:

    • groceries: $500

    • other: $200
  • Open to Business Cards: No
  • What's the purpose of your next card? Building Credit, Cashback, Better Perks
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Chase Freedom Unlimited
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? General Spending Card

Additional Info: I am currently considering applying for a new credit card so that I can build my credit more and take advantage of greater perks. I have been considering the Chase Freedom Unlimited due to its $0 annual fee and cashback offerings. I've read a lot about cashback vs. points cards and think at this time a cashback card might make more sense for me. I'm not doing much travel at the moment and as you can see the majority of my expenses come from dining and groceries. I am not likely to purchase a home/apply for a mortgage any time soon. I do not currently bank with Chase. Hope this helps.

Thanks in advance, everyone.
