Mark Schlereth Calls Anthony Richardson ‘Physically Gifted’ But Questions His Viral Dunk Clips
DiscussionView all comments
This screams old white guy is just jealous. While his points are valid that dunking a ball doesn’t translate to football. Just let the kid enjoy his life. For as long as he can dunk a ball, fucking go dunk that shit.
Yeah nah this dudes an idiot. Also remember when he “broke the news” that the Aaron rodgers to broncos deal was all but done
Yea, never been a fan of his. He always screamed “peaked in high school”. Yes I know he made it to the league, but he’s got nothing after. He wishes he was still playing and is hating on this generation for having fun and enjoying themselves.
Tbh I’d rather not see him dunking either. It’s amazing don’t get me wrong but if he strains a muscle or worse like blow a knee then we would all be calling him out for doing this video. 99% of the time nothing will happen but that 1% could ruin our season or future as a franchise. See Andrew Luck hurting his shoulder skiing as an example.
He can still live his life, he doesn't owe his entire life to football no more than you owe your entire life to your job.
You’re right but if I can’t do my job because I get hurt living my life, my job has no responsibility to continue to employ me. There’s a reason guys get clauses in their contracts to protect the investment the team is making in them. He can’t do his profession if he gets hurt playing basketball. He’s 6’4 250 that’s not easy on your joints by any means let alone dunking like that.
Skiing/snowboarding is infinitely more dangerous than dunking a basketball, dude. Luck was an idiot for doing that with an already injured shoulder. It's not the same. Let the guy have fun.
I've heard of soccer player breaking a toe at home walking around their house. We can't wrap them up in cotton wool.
Terrell Suggs tore his Achilles playing basketball. Again there’s a reason why guys have this stuff written into their contracts. It’s not him just throwing down a rim grazer, it’s not him just running a light pick up session. To do that dunk you have to exert yourself to your limit.
Well I'm sure he wouldn't upload the video if he had a clause in his contract so it would seem the colts do not care that much
I didn’t say he had a contract clause I said guys get them. Just because they didn’t say anything publicly doesn’t mean they didn’t say anything behind closed doors. Either way like i acknowledged 99% it won’t go wrong but the 1% will ruin what he gets paid to do so there’s a certain level of accountability with that. If he blows his knee out dunking it can void his contract.
Accountability in the nfl? Thats a good one. The nfl is a business and the players are treated like assets by the owners and front offices. I disagree that someone should limit what they do in their own lives based on a 1% act of god chance like you are describing. Life is about much more than all of that.
Not sure why u got disliked. People look like losers complaining about a young man living his life.
Yeah it's totally harmless and just him enjoying his life lol. Some take football too serious
Then you go risk your millions dollar salary for a sport you’re not a pro in.
Nice one 👍
I mean be real. Being 6’4, 250 doesn’t decrease the odds of him getting hurt. He missed 3/4 of the season because he was hurt. And it’s not just blowing a knee out. He can roll an ankle, pull muscles etc. I don’t expect him to live in a bubble but don’t post the footage.
K. But by this logic (and your numbers) he’s 3x more likely to choke to death at home than hurt himself dunking. So he should blend up all foods and take no solids?
Infants are all born with the ability to put their foot in their mouths, they lose it over time by not bending and contorting like that anymore. Kids and young adults are the same thing. And so are senior citizens.
The elderly don’t generally stop touching their toes because they can’t anymore, they can’t anymore because they stopped doing it.
“Two sport” athletes are way more likely to be successful at the sport they ultimately choose, because it is good for a developing body and mind to pick things up from other sports. Richardson is the youngest projected starter in the NFL this year, and he is still developing his body, his mind, and his style of play.
Let the dude be a kid, and try not to suck the joy out of his life (or yours) based on a 1% chance something might go wrong. That’s life and there are benefits to that 1% risk, including him not burning out mentally and not reaching his full potential because of that
He’s not a 2 sport athlete, this isn’t high school. He’s an NFL QB getting paid millions to be healthy.
Dunking isnt that amazing.
So anyone that can dunk can do that dunk?
Let me ask you this. If you were AR. Would you want people telling you how to live your life and what you should and shouldn’t be doing? Of course not. That’s all I’m saying. I get that he gets paid for his opinions but when no one gives a shit. Move on.
If I was AR I wouldn’t be posting the video of me doing it to get criticized after I only completed 1/4 of my rookie season due to injury. If he can’t do his job because he’s living his best life then he won’t continue to be an NFL QB. There’s a reason guys get clauses in their contracts to prevent them from doing this kind of stuff.
I’m sorry I disagree. It’s basketball. More dangerous stuff is put in there. But basketball? Come one.
Yeah, because basketball is free from injury right?
Literally could get hurt or worse at any second. Why live so scared? He’ll be alright
So if he got hurt and you saw this video you’d just sweep it under the rug? You honestly sound stupid.
Most people definitely wouldn't denounce and attack him like you seem to think. People who do that don't deserve to be fans anyhow If they put the game above their livelihood. The only one who sounds stupid here is you.
The game is his livelihood. You understand he’s paid to be a franchise qb right. You understand if he got hurt and the video was on social media he could get cut and not receive a penny from the organization. There’s a reason why Terrell Suggs lied about tearing his Achilles playing basketball.
That’s part of why you’re not a superstar millionaire athlete.
I mean same? The fuck
So he’s a millionaire athlete because he posted dunk videos?
He’s dunks at a jogging pace, dude is built like LeBron. He’s gonna do this type of shit regardless, what’s it matter if he posts it online?
He’s a big boy he can do what he wants in his free time, until his behavior is a known detriment to the team why does anyone care?
He actually can’t because had he gotten hurt he would lose every future penny if the colts wanted to cut him free of contract. Theres literally language in the contract that can void it because situations like this.
It's just off-season rage bait. I read the article and I don't think it's coming from Schlereth, but the editors.
It screams peak offseason with absolutely nothing to write about. That being said, I did hold my breath every times Hines did a standing backflip.
Yes, please bring race into it, the argument of the 80 iq hero.
