In a support group, members provide each other with various types of help, usually nonprofessional and non-material, for a particular shared, usually burdensome, characteristic. Members with the same issues can come together for sharing coping strategies, to feel more empowered and to find a sense of community. The help may take the form of providing and evaluating relevant information, relating personal experiences, listening to and accepting others' experiences, providing sympathetic understanding and establishing social networks. 

**An Accepting, Friendly Space**

As a support group, we prioritize creating a safe space for our users over providing an open forum for debate and discussion. Comments that we feel are not conducive to the supportive atmosphere of the subreddit may be removed at the discretion of the mods. Users who threaten this safe space will be banned. Creating a new account to circumvent a ban is against the Reddit terms of  service and will be reported.

**Our goals are...**

* To allow users to share and vent about their experiences without being judged

* To provide a forum to ask and answer questions related to blood clots

* To give constructive advice to those who specifically request it

* To educate people on blood clots and venous diseases

* To empower those who have had clots to take ownership of their health and well-being

* To create a friendly, supportive, and accepting community

2. Respect others. No hatred, bigotry or disrespectful commentary. Please follow [Reddiquette](https://www.reddit.com/wiki/reddiquette).

3. Downvoting is discouraged, and constructive comments are encouraged.

4. No misleading claims. Posts that omit vital information or present unrelated facts in a way that would suggests a connection will be removed.

5. All NSFW links must be tagged.

6. Relevance: Please submit content that is relevant to our experiences as survivors of blood clots.
 Please note that posts/comments asking for help, in the form of material goods (money/meds/etc) aren't allowed. Money because there are significantly better equipped subreddits for that (such as /r/assistance) and posts about donating meds (even if clearly brand new, never opened bottles) because Reddit explicitly forbids it.

Clot survivors is a support group for people who have survived blood clots. (DVT, pulmonary embolism, stroke, VTE, etc.)  

**If you feel like you might have a medical emergency, then you should absolutely contact your doctor or go to your local ER/Urgent care. WE CANNOT DIAGNOSE YOU OVER THE INTERNET.**
