I’ve been on Eliquis for a DVT in my L calf for 3 weeks now and the pain was getting better but has started to come back in the last 3 days. I was increasing my activity level and able to walk for a couple minutes every hour. Have been drinking tons of water and opting for healthy foot choices, lots of plant foods.
I’m scared the clot is coming back but I also tried to do calf raises yesterday so I could just be achy from that. And I could be just paranoid. But it feels like it did when the clot started.
I’m calling my doctor first thing in the morning since her office is already closed for the evening. Just looking to see if anyone has experienced this before.
Not the same situation but maybe some similarities: My father had a left calf clot after eliquis failure and was started on lovenox. His knee started acting up shortly after being sent home. He did a televisit after his knee started to hurt, and the recommendation from the doctor was that if the pain is in the same location at or below the knee, and there weren’t other symptoms and he was taking the thinners as prescribed, then they aren’t generally as worried about that kind of pain as they are if the clot seems to be growing or migrating up the leg and past the knee. Differences in his situation are that he’s on lovenox, which is a different drug profile than eliquis, and he has arthritis so joint pain could also not be clot related.
That said, as someone who was just around for an eliquis failure, if you are having any symptoms like swelling, redness or streaking, pain, heat around the area, or anything with your breathing, go to the ER. No point worrying.
