Spam Kimbap

Recipe here. Looks nice. I don't think my sushi rolling skills would do it justice, though.

Kimchi Fried Rice with Spam

I think the title says it all. I've never had kimchi, so I don't know how it will taste with Spam. I am quite familiar with fried rice, however, and bet it tastes great with Spam. Recipe here.

best luncheon meat for hotpot?

going to hotpot buffet on saturday and their luncheon meat is chewy and hard so i’ll be bringing my own tin. any recommendations? nothing spam because i feel like it’s too salty (i get kimchi broth).

Gordon Ramsay Makes a Spam Sandwich?!?!

Ramsay makes a spam sandwich

This came up in my YT feed this evening. I searched the thread and there is a 4 yr old video of Gordon using spam in Hawaii, but this is a new one.

This seems to be from his show, 'An Idiot Sandwich.' Gordon mentions that he ate spam as a child in Scotland. Part of me is surprised, the other part of me remembers the Monty Python skit. So if they had it in England, I guess they had it in Scotland.

Island Style Spam Stew

I looked around for a recipe, but couldn't find one. This picture is from Da 9th Island Kitchen, which seem to be a connected group of Polynesian/Hawaiian restaurants/food trucks/ and catering services in Las Vegas. They haven't kept up their FB page and the Yelp reviews are dated.

Oh well. Looks like Spam and veg in a thick broth. I don't know what spices you'd add to make it taste 'island style.' I'd probably just cut up some Spam chunks and cook it with a bit of ramen, minced garlic, and Asian veg in a veggie or chicken broth, with fish sauce, sesame oil, Thai sweet chili paste, and soy sauce. But that's just me.

Spamwich Time!

Let your guests make their own sandwich from this tray of Spam goodness!

I have no idea what's in the middle. It doesn't seem to match any of the ingredients listed in the ad. I found a copy of this ad for sale on eBay. The seller had a number of items and wasn't too detailed about them, other than saying they were from the 1930's and '40's. While searching for a date, I found several 'It's Spamwich time' ads, so I guess it was a series.

Dixie Bake

From a 1958 ad.

I'm back, after a move to another state. I'm still unpacking, but the computer is up and the internet is on. Can't ask for much more.

Oh yeah - while I'm unpacking and organizing, I'm trying to keep the food simple. Tonight I'm having turkey Spam and Bush's vegetarian beans, eaten with a plastic fork from a Walmart paper plate. Stay safe, all y'all in the tornado and storm areas.
