I smelled like cigarettes and fear. I shudder now to think about how bad that cigarette smell was.
Now when I put on sunblock I remind myself that I am loved and protected going forward. And I deserved this when I was younger but my parents couldn’t be the protectors I needed.
Interesting and touching post. I do have a positive association with smell of sunscreen because I love the beach. I'm very fair skinned so if my mom had neglected to put it on me growing up I'm sure that would've been part of my traumas.
