Wrong way driver on I-90 east last nightSad state of affairs sociologically

I was driving by Natick around 12:30am last night when I needed to swerve to avoid a car coming at least 80+mph the wrong way in my lane. Shortly followed by ~3ish cops.

Does anyone know if this happens so often that it just isn’t reported in the news? I was expecting to at least see something online about but can’t find anything.

“Spare chaaaaaange” guy?Unconfirmed/Unverified

What ever became of him?

Back in 2002-2006 ‘round Beacon Hill mainly. Very unique “HEEEYYY GUYYYYYY/GAAL…got any SPARE CHANNNGE” or “How’s about a’quartereeeeer?”

Once got interviewed by Fox25 (but felt more like a mean joke)

Some said he was secretly a genius and wealthy guy doing some social experiment. Me? I dunno, but I could hear him across the commons.

Boston Attorney Gary Zerola set to go on trial for the Fourth time on Monday June 3, 2024. Not a single news agency is reporting on it so far. Crime/Police 🚔

Lawyer Gary Zerola has had dozens of allegations of rape over the past 25 years of his life, three of which have gone all the way to trial and a fourth that is teed up to go either next week or within 30 days. Mr. Zerola has beaten the three previous cases, once in 2007, once in 2008 and the third time last summer 2023. Mr. Zerola should not be confused with the other NJ/NY lawyer Matthew Nilo who has also been charged with multiple rapes in the North End and Charleston where he would allegedly attack his victims as they were walking home alone at night. Nilo was found years later through DNA.

Mr. Zerola’s alleged MO is much different, he typically has a girlfriend that is 20 to 25 years younger than him and then he uses his current girlfriend to meet her friends. He then will take them out wine and dine them and get them completely wasted. He will then wait until his girlfriend passes out or goes home and then he will wait until the victim passes out as well. The alleged victims will then awake to Mr. Zerola having sex with them.

All of these allegations are unproven but he has had dozens of them over the years. At one time Mr. Zerola had 3 rape cases pending against him. 2 in Boston and 1 in Miami. The Miami case was eventually dropped I believe because the alleged victim didn’t want to go through the trauma again and decided not to move forward.

Mr. Zerola was charged in that Miami case while out on bond for one or both of his early 2000 rape cases in Boston. He broke pre trial probation and went down to Miami and ended up with this third rape case. But again, the Miami case was dropped, it’s just interesting Mr Zerola while having two pending rape cases against him he would break pre-trial probation and go to Miami and pick up a third case.

Then in 2017, Zerola was arrested for his third or fourth rape case depending on how you label the Miami case. Mr. Zerola gets out on bond for that rape and picks up his fourth/fifth rape case in 2021. The 2021 rape case is what is supposed to be going forward either later next week or in 30 days as Zerolas counsel was able to come up with some thin DNA issue that requires further testing. The defense is claiming that their DNA experts have found that there is a DNA test out there that could potentially exculpate Mr. Zerola from the two DNA profiles found in the alleged victims vagina. Apparently the victim had two profiles in her vagina, one being her boyfriends and the prosecution believes that the second DNA profile is Zerolas.

Unfortunately with the DnA testing that has been done there wasn’t enough of a profile to say it was or was not Zerola. The defense is asking for 30 more days to do this testing claiming that this new testing will be able to exculpate Mr Zerola. It will be interesting how this unfolds my thought is that it’s another delay tactic that will not produce definitive results.

I believe Mr Zerola wants a trial to be conducted in the Suffolk Superior Court House which has no AC during the hottest month of the year, July, in order to make a jury so uncomfortable with the heat that they will just acquit him if there is a shred of doubt so they can just get the hell out of that sweltering building. My thought is if a jury is that uncomfortable in the heat they will be more inclined to acquit then find guilty if they want out of the building. To find someone guilty just because you’re uncomfortable would be much harder on the conscious. This is merely a theory, it is not a fact.

Mr. Zerola’s last trial in 2023 was in June and the courtroom was pretty uncomfortable. That case was not nearly as strong as this one and so maybe he believes the July heat will be better then the June heat.

It’s a wild theory but interesting. Again, Mr. Zerola has never been convicted of rape or any of these allegations. Therefore, he is presumed innocent.

What’s most amazing and CourtTV even reported on this is how is Mr. Zerola still licensed to practice law in Massachusetts? The burden of proof in attorney discipline proceedings is not “beyond a reasonable doubt” it is either a “preponderance of the evidence” or “clear and convincing.” Therefore just because he was acquitted in criminal proceedings first, does not mean the man is actually innocent and second, does not mean the Massachusetts Bar couldn’t overcome one of the weaker burdens of proof. The Massachusetts bar could march in a dozens of women to testify against him in attorney discipline proceedings and almost certainly would overcome the burden of proof. It’s mind boggling a lawyer can have 20-25 years of rape allegations by a dozen women and still be licensed to practice law. It’s a stain on the Boston legal community.

Anyways, like John Gotti, the fourth trial rather than the third might be the Commonwealth’s lucky charm, only time will tell.

Disclaimer: Some of the time frames of my comments could be slightly off. For example Zerola may have had only one early 2000 rape cases pending in Boston instead of both when he picked up the Miami rape allegations. If anyone notices any discrepancies I will be happy to update and amend. Otherwise I have been following his more recent cases closely and I did some research on his past cases. So everything is accurate to the best of my ability and knowledge. Lastly, Mr. Zerola has never been convicted of any of these allegations or any other crime that I am aware of.

Same feel after moving to the city?Asking The Real Questions 🤔

Hello everyone!

I am considering looking for a job in Boston/Cambridge and moving to the city. My GF and I drive around 2 hours most weekends since we love just being there and walking around. We live in a rural area with not much to do and am both interested in being in an area where there is stuff to do. We also have enjoyed meeting people our age and being able to join in for some drop in sports etc.

We make around 140k together in a lcol area, so this will be a big change, but we both agree it’s a trade off.

My question is was anyone in a similar situation and how do you feel after being there for a few months, years, decades? Do you wish you stayed where you were, or did the city really add to your quality of life?

Thabks in advance.

Looking for advice on how to date in BostonDining/Food/Drink 🍽️🍹

Hi guys,

30M asian. Introvert. I'm in my self-improvement arc and trying to do everything I can to improve myself. Used to be a bland guy who only worked a lot (Remote software engineer job) but now I'm making improvements. Highlights include losing 20lb in a year, lifting weights, cooking, going to yoga class as a way to go out more and be fit, updating the wardrobe, learning to play an instrument, painting, going to meetups via meetup app, etc.

Doing all this while also trying to get into the dating scene. Because I'm such a workaholic, I haven't dated ever. Imagine playing a RPG game and you put all the stats on work---that's me. Have used OLD and updating my profile a lot (Hinge, Bumble, Match). I do get 1 match per week on avg using Hinge, but no dates came out of it for the last 2 months. Now considering using a matchmaking service like LunchDates. Think it cost like $3k for 3 months which is pretty hefty. No experience on a match making service. I'm getting a little desperate, which is why I'm considering the service--- as time progress' and I'm fending that negative emotion off by distracting myself with all these hobbies.

For context, I'm looking for 25-35F, asian or white, and someone who is open to trying new things and learn about each other hobbies. Stable job, LTR, someone who is kind, is active, all that stuff. Brownie points for having a nerdy side (gaming/anime). Edit: for clarity, I wouldn't mind dating other races. It's just a personal preference to seek asian or white relationship.

For anyone who was successful in dating in Boston, what did you do?

Looking for Track and Field Training Opportunities in Boston (400-800m)Hobby/Activity/Misc

Hi everyone

I’ll be in Boston this fall and I’m looking for track and field training opportunities. I run the 400m and 800m with the occasional 200m. While I’m not planning to compete during the fall/winter, I want to stay fit for the spring season.

I’ll be doing research at Harvard, so it would be great if the training location is not too far from there. I’ve looked online and found the Greater Boston Track Club, but I couldn’t find where exactly they train. Harvard itself only has a long distance running group.

I’ll be in Boston for 3-6 months. Any recommendations for local clubs, training groups, or facilities would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Parking near MGH (or tips for commuting from Jamaica Plain at odd hours)MBTA/Transit 🚇 🔥

Hello! I’m a medical student who will be doing a rotation at MGH in July. For personal reasons I’ll be staying at a place in Jamaica Plain. I have a car but am worried about parking. I will be having to get to the hospital around 3:30 am and leaving anywhere from 8pm to midnight so MGH affiliated or extremely close parking seems like a must. I will only be there for 1 month so I am not eligible for anything mass residents are. Are there any websites that people use to sell parking passes ? For example if ppl are away for the summer and want to have it rented out? Any nearby apartment complexes or lots I might look into? Thanks in advance.

Zen Muay Thai classes?I Wrote This!

On the backside of my 30s, bored, and looking for a fun workout. Looking to learn a martial art but due to some pins and plates in one my arms, I don’t think BJJ would be a good idea for me(breaking it again is a big fear of mine but if someone can convince I’ll be fine I’ll think about it).

Very interested in Muay Thai tho. Looking for a chill gym. I’m a pretty lean guy, 136/ 5’9, so I’m a bit intimated by thought of walking into a gym full of pros.

Any advice would be great!

Thanks!
