Weekly grooming session according to my overdramatic border collie

ripping off all his fur ( brushing)

2 cutting off his nails to the quick ( cutting nails)

Butchering off the half of his legs ( shaving paw pads so he doesn't slip on the floor)
applying caustic acid on the paw pads ( applying paw wax on the paws)
Taking his paws from him, so he can't walk (putting on socks so he don't lick paw wax off)
Stealing his butthole (tidying his butt fur because he shi*s himself sometimes)

He is very cooperative during grooming, but he is very vocal and dramatic. I don't need advice. I just wanted to tell you how overdramatic he is...

I tried to blow dry my guy once and he let out the most pitiful howl. I'm going to be honest, I caved, he air dried.

First time I bathed my boy he cried like I was bathing him with acid. Really freaked out the golden who was getting into the tub next to us, lol.

I have a border collie/bully mix. Absolutely a drama queen. She tolerates the bath. Funny enough if you blow in her face she hates it, however if a high velocity dryer does it she sits and closes her eyes and loves it.

The drama comes with the nails. She quite literally SCREAMS like she’s being murdered. Between vets and groomers we’ve figured out that a lateral hold works best. Laying her on her side basically. With light “restraint” basically putting your hands on her gently, she wags her tail while screaming like she’s dying. Drama to the core.

I don’t disagree lol but the dryers are quite powerful I totally didn’t expect her to tolerate let alone love it 😅

bath in Muriatic hydrochloric acid (bath in warm water and avocado soap)
eternal suffer in hel winds (Drying with hairdryer)
probing her brain with alien tech (wiping her ears with a towel)

Mine loves the brush, tolerates baths and dryer. Do you really do the nails weekly? Something here thats maybe quarterly or biannual. Vet told us she should be wearing them down herself a good bit with her activities.

Yes. His nails grow fast and are quite sharp. They grow a little more straight instead of down, so they don't wear down as well as they should

Poor fella and poor you. thats a weekly ritual im glad to not have! In saying that I'm sure doing it weekly you might get a side gig as a doggy nail salon owner with all that experience !

With any other dog, I would be absolutely mauled. My dog shows me his teeth and growls when I do anything on his paws...I have learned to ignore it because the rest of his body language is pretty relaxed. Other dogs will bite if they show these signals...mine tells me he disapproves of any action around the paws, but he has never bitten me.

He is a pretty growly boy. If anyone could hear us playing with him, they would think he is shredding us to pieces. The sounds he is making are murderous.

Mine is such a beauty queen. He LOVES being washed and blow dried, his favourite is rolling around in the towel to dry off. But he draws the line at being trimmed or having his nails trimmed. I try to clean up his hair and he's like nope. Try to trim his nails? God no he freaks out. I've no idea how our groomer does it but I leave it up to him now.

Mine is also very sensitive and dramatic about handling lol we practice cooperative care, give him frequent breaks, and he also air dries but that’s more because he wants to fight the dryer… Thankfully I have a wonderful groomer that he sees every 6 weeks and he loves going there!

Hates with extreme prejudice (teeth):

Brushing or combing of any kind. Picking or tugging at fur or fur mats. Towel drying when soaking wet from rain. Wiping muddy feet. Anything going on inside the ears. Any attempt at brushing teeth. Removing stickies (burrs/crud). Nail trimming - will not be permitted. Being picked up - not going to happen. Messing with tail or backside - not tolerated. Trimming Dr. Seuss fur from feet - nope. A bath - like bathing a wolverine in a hurricane. A muzzle - I will likely lose a finger - starts OCD alligator death-roll trying to remove it.

This all requires a sedated (out cold) grooming at the vet. Very stressful for all involved.

My border collie loves a fresh blow dry.. like the diva she is! I have to do it though.. an unfamiliar groomer would be out of the question and incredibly toxic of me to even suggest such a thing!
