My biggest problem with this chapter was yet another wasted character with a lot of potential that never got explored(The Witch Queen).

The anti magic sharing didn't really bother me, I just see it as Asta replacing their magic with anti magic for the time being. As long as I don't see Magna throw a magic fireball in that form, I don't have a problem with it.

I think Tabata is going with the whole poison resistance idea. Basically if you expose your self to a poison in small amounts then in time you become immune to the poison, of course it doesn’t work like that in real life but it’s a famous trope in fiction. Basically the BB are exposed to Asta’s ambient AM in such a way that they build up a resistance to it, specifically their mana/magic power. That means that Asta can actually give them AM and they can still use their magic so long as Asta doesn’t go over the resistance limit they have. Asta can do this because he mastered Zetten giving him enough control to not poison them.

It actually does work in real life, sort of. It depends on the type of poison. It's a practice known as mithridatism, and can allow you to develop an immunity or resistance to the venoms of certain creatures. It doesn't work with artificial or man-made poisons though, since those function through a different mechanism.

It actually does work like that. There was a Greek or Roman (I can't remember the name) king that ingested small amounts of poison to become immune to poisoning so that he wouldn't be assassinated via poison. He succeeded, too bad gaining poison immunity didn't give him sharp sword to the back immunity.

I agree. I know people were hoping that the series was going to last longer, but it is clear at this point that this is definitively the last major arc. Unless Tabata pulls out something crazy with Dorothy/Adramalech, I don’t see how the manga can go on for more than 2 dozen chapters at most at this point.

BC had 1 good saga while JJK is just rushing it's developments on the finish line. They are nowhere near the same level of car crash.

it can also be seen as lucius won't be easy to handle . we don't know how its gonna effect or be used by others .. i think this whole situation was created to handle the clones . its taking alot out of yuno to handle one so BBs won't be able to handle them if u put them in a 1v1 situation . at least this buff will keep them safe from lucius soul magic for now . I really don't see how much difference this actually makes .
they r not invincible just like how asta was never truly invincible.

I'll have to wait for translations but tbh this is a mixed bag at best. It would be kinda ok if they aren't able to use both anti magic and their magic at the same time, but I'm sure that taht won't be the case since Vanessa is straight up already using her strings in the last page. Ig Asta needed an equivalent to yuno's neverland but tbh just giving him a large anti-mana zone would have been great since it would be enough to protect the country from any magic attack.

Also it's insane that Asta made this up on the fly after a comment from Ryu. They could've at least had a page of training flashbavl for it. The other kinds look like dumbasses for not being able to do the same

Zetten really doesn't feel like such an insane power boost for Asta. He can... attack faster, with more range and precision ? Well that's cool I guess but I don't get why we spent so much time on that training session (without mentioning the samurai are basically out of the picture sans Ichika)

Tbf zetten doesn't feel like a huge power up but it actually is. The first time that Ichika and Asta fought base Ichika was so strong thanks to it that Asta tought that even using true devil union wouldn't have mattered. That's insane if you think about the powerup that true devil union gives. Asta went from getting humiliated by Lucifero to absolutely dog walking him thanks to it and zetten is supposed to be and even bigger boost.

But yeah the story doesn't really show it well.

He got his ass kicked consistently by Ichika, offscreen improvement, managed to utilize Zetten well when the Paladins attacked, offscreened furthering the mastery of Zetten AND develop this crazy shit that he had to learn by himself apart from Ryu's advice.

Definitely am not a fan of this development, but I think I see where this is going/how this’ll work. Most people are assuming that the BBs magic is “coated” in anti-magic, which wouldn’t make sense given what we know about magic and anti-magic.

What if instead of “coating”, Asta is actually replacing what they use to create spells and use magic (their mana) with his anti-magic. This would make sense given what we see. For example, we see Vanessa is still able to use Rogue, who has now changed color and ability most likely. If Vanessa now draws upon anti-magic instead of mana to use her spells, then the change in color would make sense. This is also the case for Luck, whose lightning is now black. He’s now able to use anti-magic lightning abilities because instead of using mana, he’s using anti-magic. This could also play into the long-term vision of equalizing everything and removing magic from the world (haven’t rly given this much thought tho).

How would Asta change out of the blue change how they use spells? We have been repeadetly told that mages innately use mana to cast spells, and we have seen people getting their magic drained in contact with anti-magic or with fatigue because they used too much magic.

If Anti-magic was circulating now inside them, they would fall unconscious. Another remark would be that they wouldn't able to even use their spells since they require magic to work.

How much Anti-magic would Asta need to have buff the whole BBs squad with out it being at the expense of himself?

The problem with this angle is that Tabata is doing a MASSIVE retcon to how AM works.

Remember when Tabata explained why AM wasn't interfering with his allies abilities when the Witch Queen awakened Black Asta?

We were told vocally and with flashback panels that Asta was controlling the output of AM, turning it on and off unconsciously and that's why he was able to work in tandem with magic users.

If now this just means magic can work alongside antimagic without any problems (as having a mage be filled with antimagic is MUCH different from a mage and Asta working together) then the WQ explanation was bullshit.

Do you remember at the end of the Elves Arc, after the battle with Zagred the Word Devil and all the elves were still rampaging around?

William and Licht first linked all the elves with a union spell. Asta then struck the spell with the Demon-Destroyer and injected anti-magic into it, undoing the reincarnation spell. Note, this didn't undo the union spell and only affected the reincarnation on the elves.

This is proof that anti-magic can, in fact, work in conjunction with regular magic. It's all about Asta's control over it and deciding what to erase with it.

This is why I don't see how using the Demon-Dweller, a sword designed to share power between the user and their allies, would be a problem.

I think it's a tada bit different controling anti-magic in one attack in conjunction with magic as to not erase it, and another is controling an anti-magic buff on different people?

The problem is not Asta using it on someone while controling it, it's Asta using it suddenly on multiple people and their magic running smoothly just because someone told him he should be able to do it. It goes from 0% to 100%.

Hmm i see it more like the anti-magic is just running through it and the beams act as a travel guide, in the same way anti-magic follows really strong magic. It's not like the light beams turn black either (like the bull's spells/clothing) so it's probably a really small output Asta injected into the tree, as to not destroy it. I don't see it as comparable to straight up fusing magic with anti-magic.

Point to me where in my comment I called this an asspull. And no, it's not the same as what Licht did, it's the reverse. Licht absorbed the magic of others with the Demon Dweller and used it as his own, while here Asta is spreading Anti-Magic out from the sword and giving his own power to others rather than taking from theirs. The Demon Dweller before this point was never shown to have the ability to give or bestow power onto others. It's power has always been absorbing, but here it's doing the opposite. It's a similar/related concept, but not exactly the same.

It was shown when Licht bestowed Lumiere's protecting light to the elves he is connected with. Another thing is that it can also transfer antimagic or the casuality break ability of Demon Destroyer since that was method they used to liberate the remaining elves

Sharing powers by itself is not a Naruto thing. But I mean sharing your powers(specifically coating others in your energy) that you got from a demon monster thing living inside of you, just after you returned from training in a remote distant island while your friends where in the middle of war with BCs version of edo tensei villains. Does make this whole thing look like it copied Naruto, I mean the sequence described above is just various parts of the Naruto ninja war in one sequence.

I mean Naruto didn't share them just after training on the island, he had like two other powerups between them lol, but yeah it is pretty similar ig, though I don't think the Naruto is the main problem with the chapter, more just how it doesn't really make sense to me how anti magic can boost people with magic based on what we know about how it works. I don't really see the paladins as being that similar to edo tensei though, they're actually alive for one and their purpose isn't the same, plus it's far more limited than edo tensei was, considering there's only like 2 people brought back from the dead.

I thought Asta thing with Ichicka would something as simple as Ichicka pulling an enemy with her gravity towards a perfect spot, forcing them to focus on her and gather their magic and as they are ready to attack, Asta pulls out demon destroyer to shut it down, giving them ample time to zetten

1- Anti-Magic won't destroy your mana flow if it doesn't pass through your body.

Zetten does what Asta did to Vetto and Ladros but without harming them. If anti-magic is touching you but not your mana "arteries" it's fine. It also depends of the sword, Demon

2- Anti-Magic could coat spells and other users if Asta wished to. Think about Yuji and his black flash. Anti-Magic will hit first, then the spell of the user.

3- Ki/Energy channeling has existed since the DBZ/Saint Seiya days.

Right but having an anti-magic coat around a magic user should by any means that we know so far, weaken their magic or cancel it out completely.
The anti-magic would still be floating within a very close proximity and should still cancel out their spell, especially if the anti-magic is as strong as Asta's current output.

But she did use her powers to predict the future before. Healing and potentially bringing people from the dead (Grey and Gauche looked dead) required a lot of magical power and knowledge, and only a few characters could do it. She is impressive but not in the way that the fandom wants to see her.

I like the designs, but I don't understand how it's possible for this to even be a thing. Also, we got a bit of this in the last arc with Asta completely breaking the power scaling, what with him stomping 50% Lucifero in 5 seconds flat, but this is like, dragon ball z levels of nonsense where everyone that's not named goku ends up being useless without direct plot fiat and is stuck in limbo unable to catch up at all.

Okay predictions for the black bulls anti magic properties

Magna has fire anti magic which lights a black fire that burns away mana

Luck gets a new form of lightning battle fiend with the usual anti magic properties

Any thing Gauche looks at with his magic item eye loses its mana (sorta similar to Marie’s eye magic)

Grey’s can transmute spells into antimagic spells (not really sure how that’d work)

The only redeeming part of this chapter is the insane art, especially with the new outfits and Witch Queen's spell, however:

Witch Queen being wasted is insanely sad, she has a lot of potential and could offer a lot of things on the table if Tabata would want to, yet, here it is. All those lore + knowledge is wasted af. Dorothy was shady tho, wanting the position all of the sudden after leaving the forest? Sus.
Mana = Life Force and Anti Magic nullifies Mana, theoretically speaking, all of the Black Bulls should be dead right now or at least unconscious. But, looking at how Charmy's Cotton and Rouge turned Black, it seems that Anti Magic was INFUSED with their magic, making the Black Bulls literally broken. It is sad for a fact that: They are all literally useless without Asta and Asta's Anti Magic no longer makes him unique and a specific kryptonite for Lucius. At this point, it is pretty much decided that the final fight will be Lucius vs the Black Bulls. This powerup definitely has a drawback tho, and that is its only redeeming point right now.
All of the Captains despite having Yuno's Buff could barely beat a Paladin, and Asta just one shotted one, the power creep is insanely tipped at this point, how come the Captains did not got that much stronger over the span of time? It is as if only Asta and Yuno and Mereoleona (Noelle to ig) are the only ones training considering they are the only ones who got decent powerups. It's a shame on how TONS of characters are wasted just for Asta to shine, Tabata could have executed this BETTER, I know he can and it is just sad that he did not.

This chapter literally just made majority of the buildups pretty wasted, my hope is still there, hopefully, the next chapter won't fumble and will give this war more "thrill" and more ways for characters who were not a member of the Black Bulls and not named Yuno to be developed still.

This chapter does not make me mad or whatever, it is just kinda disappointing on how Asta's only unique feature can now be shared, pretty sure he can share it with Yuno too considering he could share it with the Bulls. Regardless, hoping the next chapter to be as insane and grand as the Lucius reveal.

And yeah, the condition for anti-magic sharing are clearly a (very lame) way for justifying only some characters having the spotlight (and it will be obviously come down to Asta and Yuno defeating Lucius with the power of the friendly rivalry at the end).

Nacht, Luck, Charmy and a few other black bulls are as strong, skilled and/or smart as the captains if not even more. I’m skeptic with this anti magic cloaking but I think the issue stems into the power creep and how everyone who’s not Asta or Yuno can’t hold their own without their help.

Honestly: not really feeling this chapter. Damantio getting one shot by base Asta being confirmed is lame and just makes everyone else look kind of pathetic, considering how much characters like Mereoleona with the crimson lions and Noelle and Yami and the Black Bulls are struggling with a single paladin. The anti magic boost from Asta just reinforces that the characters can't really be very useful against the enemy without Asta, which just makes everyone look bad.

I'm just saying, between this and what happened with Yrul and Lily, everyone else, even Noelle and Yami and Mereoleona, are being made to look bad in comparison to an insane degree. Seriously, Black Clover was at its best when everyone could contribute somewhat in their own way. Now it seems no one can truly accomplish something significant against the enemy without Asta helping or doing it for them. Even Yuno's never neverland spell ended up not meaning much, considering the magic knights at the capital are still getting their cheeks clapped by the paladins, never mind Lucius and his clones.

This is the dumbest chapter I've read from this story. It shouldn't make any sense for Asta's anti magic to be covering his friends because it should make their magic powers completely useless. What is Tabata doing right now? Now the Naruto fans are going to be even more mad at us for copying them.

And the WQ gets offed just like that?! Wtf is even going on? But what really disappoints me is how Ichika is being completely ignored. I really wanted to see the BBs reaction to their captain having a little sister.

I miss the elf arc more with each passing chapter. The pacing was brisk but didn't put any undue pressure in the narrative and everyone had opportunities for exposition.

This just reads like Tabata wants to blitz to the end of his story ASAP.

I agree. This saga is starting to remind me more and more of the spade raid arc’s worst moments. While there have been some decent moments here and there, the saga overall has been lacking in a lot of departments.

To be honest, I liked Spade even more than the Elf arc. I just didn't like how they defeated Lucifero and how the villains (Dark Triad, Morris, etc.) were treated. But the latter saga is just boring as hell to me. especially after being sent to Hino. It doesn't help that Lucius reminds me a lot of Zenon(I hate him), who is boring as hell to me.

And these last chapters make me not want to read it anymore.

If you think about what dweller does it all makes a bit of sense, Asta is costing everyone with anti magic like he did with slasher and it’s dweller’s power that allows everyone to actually use this anti magic the same way he was able to use magic with it despite the fact his sword is coated with anti magic

It’s basically the opposite of what dweller normally does

I agree! People are asking how the black bulls can use anti-magic without having their magic zapped, but never asked why Asta's "Anti Magic" swords could hold noelle's magic in the first place. 🤔 Good point, it is completely in line with what Tabata has already shown us.

The dweller sword possessed that ability way before it got corrupted by Anti Magic. And it's not even the same concept, the sword simply steals the magic from someone else, stores it and then unleashes it back, it does not produce the mana to create that spell. The blackbulls on the other hand do, they need to use their mana to create the spells. It's a different scenario.

That specific sword simply doesn't use AM iirc. Its power is to absorb magic and that's it.

To me this chapter was both incredibly lame and cool at the same time.

It's cool because it seems "only Asta's can do something because of anti-magic" is finally stopping. It seems to potentially give the side characters something to do.

It's incredibly lame because: the Witch Queen and Dorothy were wasted again, there were a lot of fake outs deaths again and Tabata reconnected a huge amount of things for a powerup again (reminds me of Yuno's second grimore).

At this point "it is what it is".

Now the things I'm most curious about are: how long the series will last, if all the plot points will be closed, if Lucius will be able to do anything of consequences and if there will be at least one major important death.

I think the concept of Asta coating people close to him with anti-magic has potential if it’s done well, if only to offer a space for the side characters to shine in spite of the power creep.

I personally hope it works like haki from one piece; it keeps everyone’s abilities but gives them an open to deal damage to invincible villains (in one piece’s case it used to be the logia users).

I really hate this you know.First BBs are fighting with Damnatio and not even scratched him.But asta easily without any effect defeated Damnatio.

Now every BBs using asta's anti magic.So they are not get power up in their own magic.Now they beat any powerful characters, that win not goes BBs , that all goes to asta.Without anti magic, without asta BBs are nothing...

And other magic knights are fighting with their own magic, they do lots of hardwork.But now BBs are getting power up by asta without any hardwork.🙄

I'm not here to make crude comparisons but this did really reminded me of when Naruto mastered kyuubi's chackra and shared his power with the allies in the battlefield. It's typical chosen one literature trope but it was the first image that came to my mind. I don't mind at all since there's no exclusivity to this type of thing.

I think the main issue with this arc is that it’s final arc of the series. The spade raid arc wasn’t the final arc, so Tabata still had a chance to pull things around from any issues it had. This arc having questionable writing like this is unfixable since the series is ending relatively soon, which makes the issues this arc has even worse.

This is literally just the combo spell Licht and Lumiere did. I'm so glad they're finally expanding his skills past slashing. I don't care if it doesn't make sense, nobody even understands anti magic and how it actually works, since Asta is the first ever to have it. In a world with magic, devils, spirits and someone who can create souls for new bodies this isn't even close to the least believable thing.

Also I'm glad Dorothy got the new queen job instead of Vanessa, (yes there's wasted potential with the queen but she's a relic, a power level from hundreds of years ago to be a reference) Vanessa cares about her freedom and being in the Bulls. Dorothy as queen means she can hang out and sleep more, with more people to help share the work.

She isn't ageing, that's probably her real age and appearance. She was likely using her magic to keep herself looking young, but once she runs out of mana to maintain it, the mask falls and this is what she really looks like underneath.

I don't see the problem with Asta giving anti-magic to people he has ties to, we know that sword can give effects to other people, as was seen with Licht, and that means he can now use the swords at full capacity (and I don't want to hear that they should die because now they use anti-magic because nowhere in the series does it say that if you run out of magic you die, like for example children who were kidnapped and their magic was taken away, they only risked not being able to use magic anymore, not die)

And of course I can understand that people say that without Asta , the Black Bulls have no chance in battle, but that's the truth at this point, for example, Nacth had no chance against the weakest supreme devils and now faces enemies who surpass supreme devils in power (and the sad truth is that Nacth is not the top three in power in Black Bulls, he has already been overtaken by Noelle in the past arc and now we have even more confirmation that this is true that she is fighting a clone of Lucius, Acier and some angel statues)

Many people didn't like this chapter, and I understand that, but I loved seeing Asta finally use his swords to their full capacity (and what Ryu said about an unknown entity caught my attention).

I agree. Characters like Vanessa and the Witch Queen are too overpowered with their insane abilities, so Tabata has to constantly up the ante with the villains and their own haxs/power so that they can still be threatening, which turns the powerscaling into a shitshow.

I think reception to this powerup will be mixed, but I think it's a cool solution to a long running Black Clover trend: villains that can only be beat by Asta.

Looking forward to seeing the Black Bulls take on Lucius together. Lucius and the paladins are so strong that the Clover Kingdom needs something like this.

Technically anti-magic is a power source more so than anything, just like magic, and Asta uses it to power his sword magic and it functions basically like normal sword magic but erases magic due to the nature of anti-magic.

With this interpretation it means the black bulls can still use all their magic like normal but now it's powered by anti-magic power which means it has the properties to erase normal magic. That's kinda busted ngl, so Asta has the AOE spell to amp his allies like Yuno too. This also means that Asta using an anti mana zone is all but impossible since there is no natural anti-mana in the air but maybe Asta can just use an anti-magic domain expansion instead lol, similar to what he did last chapter but way bigger.

Odd request but I hope he can only share it with the black bulls alone. If it's literally anyone then this ability is beyond broken. Like I can't imagine captains struggling anymore if they can temporarily wield anti magic and start doing combination attacks
