Because you have an oval face you want your beard to complement features or to create angles you are missing on the face, this means straight cheek lines, avoid making the face look more round with rounded cheek lines on the beard.
A beard stash will show off your chin and jawline, I would recommend this, I think a shevron or walrus style looks best with a 0.5 guard on the beard. If you like the curled style go for more of a Hungarian style, not the handlebars, your features are to close together, so the peeks being up near your cheekbones exposes those features, a Hungarian style will elongate your mid-lower face sharpening the jawline and chin.
Your beard texture is soft and straight which sucks for medium length beards. If you grew your beard for a year (a yeard) that would look good with the type of beard you have but you would look not so great for about 6 - 8 months. You need the length to weigh down the kinks in your beard, styling products and blow-drying is the best option but about 5 - 10 minutes a day of mandatory grooming or you will look ridiculous.
A short full beard on you looks great, I would say about max 1" from the chin and try to keep length within the goatee. You can experiment with a moustache length here as well and try different styles there.
Clean shaven on you looks great as well. This means a clean stubble beard will look great as well. 0.5 - 1 guard all over. For the neckline, put two fingers directly on the top of your adoms apple make a line, take your pointer finger and place it in line with your jaw, right underneath and make a line, repeat on the other side and connect the three guides. This is perfect for short beards up to about 3 in Long. This is a general advice for anybody reading this.
Oval face shapes are the best face shapes possible you can experiment with all different sizes of beards mustaches as well as experiments with different lengths of hairstyles. Really anything fits you but you should really avoid making more roundness on the face. That is, the main objective of grooming for men is doing the opposite of what your face shape is.
I've been a barber for 7 years and this is just my honest opinion based on my profession of making men look handsome.
The fuller the better I always say...if you can grow it, you should! Sorry, just not a fan of clean-shaven faces especially when you grow such a beautiful beard!
1 makes you look like that guy on Instagram who calls himself the hardest working NYPD detective. He’s super jacked and handsome. So you’ve got that going for you.
Honestly any one of those except clean shaven works (though the first pic could use some shaping). Like you don’t look “bad” clean shaven, it just that you’re blessed with good facial hair, especially when it comes to your mustache. I say take full advantage of it.
