So this happened in the mountain pass campsite. I have this habit from other saves of using Fire Bolt to light the campfire before a long rest. Just a fun thing I do.
Well, this time Scratch passed between me casting and the campfire at just the right time, and was accidentally burned to a crisp. This pissed off everyone in the camp, and everyone except my party members attacked me. I was doing a good run too so I had recruited everyone you can get in Act 1. Even the Oathbreaker Knight got involved, which is really what sealed my fate at level 5.
Gale died immediately after his first turn to my Tav’s smites combined with Everburn Blade fire dmg. Karlach killed Lae’zel. Oathbreaker ended up killing my Tav and Karlach over the next two turns. Shart got killed by Wyll who was then killed by Astarion before finally being killed by Oathbreaker, downing the whole party.
All because I wanted to light the campfire with a cantrip.
