Tarp instead of tent?

It really depends on your dog. I’ve cowboy camped with my dog a handful of times and found he would get up and wander at night while I was sleeping. I ended up getting a leash and tying it to my backpack to keep him close and that worked well. If you are in grizzly country it’s a bit different.
