I don't know if anyone noticed but TRS updated their site and if you go to the games section, there's a new TBA AAA title. What do you think their new game will be? Im hoping for B4B2đ
Ouch
Telling it like it is over here đ
They literally finished it. Not every game needs to be in development for infinityÂ
I mean it's true. They abandoned the game before they even gave us Dan and Tala's ZWAT skins. That's how I knew they truly abandoned it. The game would still have life if they had only given us campaign versus.
What they really needed to give us for unlimited life support is the ability to host private servers for peer to peer connections and Steam Workshop support. Campaign versus appeals to a small percentage of the population. Way more people would use Steam Workshop if it was supported.
Campaigns, cleaners, weapons, accessories, cards, etc. Unlimited potential.
but what about other platforms
I don't care about other platforms.
"Campaign versus appeals to a small percentage". Versus is the reason why L4D2 still has roughly 20,000 daily players. Compared to B4B's 2500 daily players.
Their only abandoned game was evolved
They tried so hard to make evolve happen. I loved it, but I could see why it failed
Yay another turtle rock game that will get support for a year before pulling the plug.
B4B was actually finished in content tho
they could of added a region slector us players in less populated areas still get high wait times even in pve
Evolve, back4blood, what game will be the next one...
Donât forget L4D1, for which Valve had had enough of TRS around already that they said âitâs not you, itâs meâ then made L4D2 mostly without them.
2.5 years
would love if they made a spiritual successor to Evolve but im pretty sure theyre moving onto something thats not going to get shit on by literally everyone
I loved Evolve. It also had such rich lore. Itâd be a shame for the IP to stay dead.
Sadly the IP is dead. In their own site they mention how the IP was forcibly sold to 2k in the same auction they were so they have no rights over the IP anymore.
Thatâs so lame. I loved the gameplay, the lore, the characters, and the dialogue. Such an under-appreciated game.
That doesnât mean the IP is dead. 2K could find a team in this environment to make Evolve 2 and it could do very well.
you're saying back 4 blood is owned by 2K now? I can't find a source anywhere that can confirm that.
No, Evolve was. 2K owns total rights to Evolve.
TL;DR: When TRS was developing Evolve they had THQ as their publisher, but they went defunct. While auctioning off their games, 2K bought the rights to Evolve. TRS was just contracted to work on their own game that 2K now owned the rights to. When the game eventually died 2K denied the contract re-negotiation and effective immediately TRS could no longer work on Evolve. Years later TRS cannot do anything with that IP, as 2K owns all the rights to it. If 2K ever decide to do anything with the rights, thats the only opportunity TRS will have at being able to work on that IP again.
No evolve is.
not sure if i can internet magic it forth again but it was an FAQ section on the turtlerock website saying like "will you make evolve 2" and they said "no 2k owns all rights to evolve franchise so we wont ever make another evolve"
Please no :-( B4B 2 instead :)
Just please back 4 blood 2 I just love the building card game just don't make it a mess
Personally have no doubt it will be B4B2, itâs the only game theyâve done they garnered some success.
I damn sure wouldnât wanna go back to throwing stuff at the wall and hoping something else will stick.
It's 100% going to be Back 4 Blood 2, I hope.
I know everyone likes to shit on TRS for "abandoning" B4B, I was mad too. However, B4B was published by WB Games, and then TRS was sold to Tencent. Contractually, development of B4B had to stop. If you're tencent you don't spend money letting trs work on a game that WB Games is collecting royalties on.
The Back 4 Blood Intellectual property is owned by Turtle Rock Studios though, they were sold already geared and keyed into B4B, if you're Tencent you don't say "spend money on a new ip that could potentially fail", no, you say "make b4b2, and make it way better than b4b1".
Does tencent own the ip if so they can use the name but if not wouldn't they need a new nams
The last time I checked, the IPs were owned by Slamfire, which is one of the founderâs personal company.
Back 4 Blood didn't work that well, surely they could create something new in hopes of succeeding in this one. I don't think many people are going to be interested in a sequel.
B4B works well enough, and its potential remains relatively untapped in terms of content. There is also an easy market for premium cosmetic mtx that never got explored from a business point of view. I think even less people would be interested in a brand new I.P. from TRS at this point.
All I want is versus and I think the replayability of the game raises substantially.
FRIENDLY REMINDER TO THOSE WHO DONT KNOW
I dont really mind if it gets abandoned only if I had more than my moneys worth of replayability.
Definitely new IP, not B4B2.
Iâm hoping lol.
B4B was solid, but the lack of mod support, custom maps, and PvP all harmed the longevity of this game. Itâs why so much effort was put into the cards being what made the game âreplayable.â
If TRS was the mastermind behind fucking fantastic IPs like L4D, Evolve, and B4B then Iâm still stoked for their next game. I just hope that A) it isnât B4B2, and B) if it is then they add any of the fore mentioned B4B longevity issues.
i wonder if it would be a monster game again id love to see wat new one we can play as in pvp
Back5Blood
B4B had a great winning formula in there, if they refine it in a sequel it will POP
B4b2, but with offline support and split screen from the start. PLEASE! đ
It would be idiotic for it not to be B4B2. I really hope they listen to fans and make this one twice as good!
I don't care what they're working on, as long as they actually play test stuff before releasing it.
Edit: examples would be release pinata, release T5, Tala, grim reaper, Dan, release Heng, the shere amount of game breaking bugs (duping, ghost bullets, invisible zombies,...) and so on.
Reddit being Reddit I guess
The people that downvoted you are the di#criders of this game that can't handle any negative commentary of this dying game (reaper attachment still OP and will be OP untill the game closes)
It's owned by bytedance now, so expect it to be like everything else bytedance puts out
They are owned by Tencent, not Bytedance
My bad I just knew it was a Chinese company.
They really should just release an alpha/beta sell it at discount and let the community help build it.
They did that.
I'm talking about the game breaking bugs and the amount of overpowerd/underpowered stuff they released.
Still salty about what they did to back4blood so I will pray on their downfall
incoming new game development and off they go when they finished developing this game. So after this incoming new game should be another new game title for turtle rock studio
Itâs not gonna be a sequel. TRS can be lucky if anybody buys their next game after 2 fuck ups. If b4b would have launched in a good state and not the way it did the player base would be more substantial than it is now, because at itâs core itâs a very good game. Plus they really implied way too heavily that itâs a l4d sequel without delivering that high standard, dropping the ball with the pvp mode. Itâs a shame honestly. I wanted b4b to get years of support.
No clue. It wonât be a successor to Evolve because 2K owns all the rights to that IP.
I donât know if TRS is still working with WBGz if they are it could be B4B2, however I find that kinda unlikely due to B4Bâs mixed feelings upon launch (first impression is everything, and itâs why Evolve Stage 2 died a month after itâs rerelease).
I honestly want a new IP. Something that either has mod support, a map maker, or actual PvP. B4B had none of that and itâs why itâs replay-ability is heavily dependent on the cards in this game, whereas L4D2 had both mod and map making support.
If given a free wish, Iâd want it to be a spiritual successor to Evolve, but not Evolve 2.
I will NOT be buying. They ditched B4B so early and left it in such a poor state (im aware its gotten better but I wanted it to be so much more, also theres many problematic corruption cards + no mod support).
As someone else pointed out, TRS was bought by TenCent. TenCent cancelled development because WB was making money off of B4B instead of TenCent.
TRS owns the rights to B4B. It wouldn't surprise me if TenCent had them cease dev on B4B to start work on B4B2 so that TenCent can get all of the profits from it.
TRS didn't have a say in it. If they had, I'm sure they would have loved to keep developing B4B for another few years.

yep you are dead right
All corruption cards can be dealt with pretty easily. Not trying to be rude, but if you have trouble with Corruption Cards, that is a skill issue.
Never said I had trouble with them, I just dislike them from a gameplay standpoint.
welp ... thank you
Ditched so early? Back 4 Blood was released in Oct 2021, had a whole year of patches and DLC, and just had a patch released 4 days ago.
Only 1 year of development, happened the same with evolve, dont support companies like this
To be clear, they didn't decide to pull the plug, the publisher did.
In fact they still worked on new content when the game was put down.
Unless they are working with valve I'm not interested
Tencent and TRS, the dream team...
To Be Abandoned
