Which actor was totally miscast for their role?
Tom Cruise as Lestat in Interview with the Vampire... One of my all time favorite books, but I walked out after 5 mins of the Movie because of that.
Really?? I thought he was a perfect Lestat! I thought he acted the character very well despite not looking like the way Lestat is described in the books.
He's just such a perfect shit in the film. I love how he plays off Brad Pitt's more solid and sane character.
Tbf tho, I wasn't a huge fan of the book, so I might be missing something.
I thought Cruise understood and captured Lestat's character perfectly. Anne Rice herself felt the same way as OP--that casting Cruise was a terrible mistake. She felt that Cruise was so miscast that it took her years to finally watch the movie. When she finally did, she admitted that Cruise had done a wonderful job, and she adored his Lestat.
As unpopular as this may be, I agree with you. He was very charismatic. I think Louis and Armand were the ones miscast. But, this new Lestat was meant for this role.
