What city has the worst fan base when it comes to pro sports?
Anarchist.
When was the last time you threw a battery at someone?
Are you really a true Philly fan then?
Are you seriously unaware of the connection? https://www.businessinsider.com/why-do-philadelphia-fans-throw-batteries-2018-2
It works.
Philly, end of thread
The poles are always greased in Philly
Absolutely Philadelphia !
philly
It's definitely Philly by multiple miles
It's going to be Philly or New York that everyone will say, but my worst experience with a fanbase was Atlanta
Just when it comes to baseball. Falcons fans you just feel sorry for
What did we do to you?
August 17th, 2022, Mets beat the Braves 9-7 at Truist Park. Caught a game as we were driving from NY to FL and were Mets fans (lol, I know) Braves fans were just nasty all game. Very inappropriate comments towards my wife. I don't mind shit talking teams. That's all part of the experience, but talking about holding her down and ripping the Mets Jersey off her and worse is not okay.
Philly. I live near Philly and the eagles fans/ Phillies fans are the worst.
Montreal. Riots every year the Habs are in the playoffs.
Though as a Vancouver resident I shouldn’t be throwing stones in glass houses.
Whether the Canucks win or lose Game 7 against the Oliers I’m gonna be shocked if there isn’t some insanity that goes down even if it’s only round 2
we're pretty small compared to the really large US cities. game 7 SCF? sure, city is going to burn regardless. But for rd 2? unlikely. We've been here many times in the past, it's not so bad.
True. Just feels like for me as an outsider (Am a Canucks fan from Chicago) with the amount of shitty reffing and the fanbase being what it is it just wouldn’t shock me.
the fanbase stinks. We don't even need other fans to shit on us, our own fans will deliver in spades. That said, other than the idiotic rioters from '94 and 2011, it doesn't get bad over here. The league hates us and we've accepted that. We'll just reset like we do every year, but we don't have nearly as many diehards as other fanbases do. Most are bandwagoners (not saying that in a bad sense), so we don't get that really awful, charged up destruction that people may have elsewhere.
Someone could give me some more specifics, but my understanding was that football hooliganism and violence in some UK cities is unparalleled anywhere else.
As an American who's lived in the UK for quite a while (who is a football fan and went to/played for one of the most rabid Big 10 schools), US fans are adorably quaint in the mayhem they cause compared to British football hooligans. The sheer, unadulterated violence at some points is absurd.
I'm going to bat against my state. Arizona. Everyone is saying Philly and New York. They are annoying, but you can't doubt their loyalty.
Here, though? A massive chunk of the population are transplants who bring their own loyalties and go to games wearing opposing jerseys. Often outnumbering local jerseys. But the moment there is any success, the flags and car stickers come out and everyone rushes to the team store. Everyone is a fan.
Until it ends, and everyone goes back to the status quo. Welcome to the fairweather fanbase. As pathetic as it sounds
Im going with Pittsburgh. Philly fans are worse, but they tend to mostly gravitate around Philadelphia. Steelers fans, on the other hand, are fucking worldwide.
I have never been to Philly, but I lived in Oakland near the coliseum and the Raiders' fans were always ready to manifest blood and trauma. More, that is, then then Oakland's day to day oppression = aggression.
Raiders fans are annoying because they're aggressive and have had a victim complex ever since the Tuck Rule
Most obnoxious fans to deal with in game day? Philly, and I’m a Philly fan. That being said…
Atlanta has the worst fans in general. Only team they show up for are the Braves. Even then it seems like the only thing they want to talk about are the Bulldogs. Give me a “this is our year” Cowboys fan over a UGA fan any day of the week.
Yeah, I’m also from Philly and I get people rating worst based on who’s the biggest assholes (that’s Philly or Boston), but there’s something to be said for a city that just flat out doesn’t care about their team. A team that can’t sell tickets even when they’re good has bad fans.
That’s LA IMO. They don’t care about sports.
It is the south. You expect us to not care about UGA football?!?!!
Boston.
I'm from Boston and I came here to see where we fell on the list. I'm glad to see Philly is jumping on the grenade for this one.
Kinda surprised how unanimous it is.
Not city. State. Texas. Like fck the cowboys.
Belgrade, Rome, Buenos Aires, Glasgow.
San Diego. I don’t live there but it doesn’t seem like that many people care.
Lazio
Philly, not close.
I'll go a different direction and pick LA. If I try to think of a stereotypical LA fan I have no idea what it actually is other than the fact that they probably weren't born and the raised in southern California
LA fans are insanely bandwagony or fair weather (like many California fans tbh) and most were priced out of the city but still worship it.
San Diego.
We lost an NFL team and an NBA team because we wouldn't buy tickets or go to games.
All our sports fans are out playing sports instead.
The Chargers left because Spanos was obsessed with getting a downtown stadium to replace the old stadium despite the city offering a $1/year lease for 99 years for their existing location plus public funds to build a new stadium there. The city's voters rejected a ballot measure to allocate public funds for a downtown stadium, and Spanos decided to take his toys and leave for Inglewood in a snit - it had nothing to do with ticket sales at all.
Philly is notorious for being shitheads but I present Chicago fans.
At least the asshole Chicago fans shut up when they lose.
New York
Philly by and large. Eagles lose? City burns. Eagles win? City also burns. Fucking nuts.
